I wake up the next morning to sunlight pouring through my window. I quickly get out of bed and get into my uniform. I race down the stairs and grab some breakfast eager to meet Griffin. I have to know the truth. I walk out the door and am surprised to see Griffin on the sidewalk already. “Hey!” He says waving a piece of paper in the air. “Last night I made a list of potential… suspects,” he says cautiously handing me the paper. There are only a few names and I barely recognize most of them. One, however, stands out to me. Grant. As I read the name memories pop into my head. A bully since 6th grade, he’s focused on me. Maybe he killed Bella to get at me, one of the cruelest things I can imagine. “Hey! Collen! Are you okay?” Griffin asks, snapping me out of my frenzy. “Yeah, I’m fine. But we need to find out Grant. Find out where he was. He’s a definite suspect. It might have been him.” I say it with uncertainty but there isn’t a doubt in my mind Grant did it. He had the motive, and he seems to always be able to find me. Grant killed Bella. I need to focus. I will make him pay. “Okay so we need to figure out where he was on that day and then we can start gathering evidence and we can report it to the police. Case closed” Grant says chuckling, I laugh alongside him. A fake laugh. I have no reason to laugh except to keep him from thinking I’m wired. That I am delusional and I’m not thinking straight. But I am! “Yeah,” I agree “Case closed.” We finally get to school and decide to split up. I carefully ask people about that day making sure to avoid brant hoping Griffin will be the one to talk to him. I go from person to person even asking Grant's closest “friends”, but no one knows where he was on that awful day. By the time I finish asking people as school is ending, I’m even more convinced he did it. I find Griffin talking to someone and wait for him to finish when they part ways I walk up to him “Any luck?” I ask him “No, no one knows where he was” Griffin answers solemnly “Great that’s all I need, let’s go to the police station to tell them so they can apprehend the murderer. They won’t want a murderer wandering around right!” I say dragging Griffin “Are you sure about this Collen you might be wrong and…” he trails off “I thought you were with me!” I say wondering what has gotten into him “I am it’s just we need more evidence.” I shake my head “We have plenty of evidence we can’t let that murderer walk around. You’re either with me or against me there isn’t an in-between!” I’m angry now but what Griffin says makes everything worse “I don’t think you’re thinking straight maybe we should do this when you’re feeling better.” He says it quietly, but I hear him anyway. “FINE! YOU THINK I'M CRAZY TOO! WELL, I DON'T CARE I CAN CATCH THE MURDERER WITH OR WITHOUT YOU!” I scream this in his face and storm off toward the police station. When I get there, I walk up to the front desk and ask to see an officer. When an officer comes out, I tell him who killed Bella and why. I lay out all the evidence. But the officer simply laughs and says he was at the station that day for vandalism. No one believes me!! I race out of the station and run. I’m not going anywhere I’m just wanting to get away. From everyone that thinks I’m crazy. Everyone who’s acting like I’m sick. I stop running and try to catch my breath as I look around. I’m on the bridge. I take a deep breath and try to calm down. I walk over to the edge and sit down with my feet dangling off the edge. Suddenly it hits me all my buried memories resurfaced. We were walking and I got too close to the edge. I had slipped but Bella had grabbed me and pulled me back into the bridge, but the momentum sent her over the edge into the swirling waters. This is where it started, and this is where it’s ended. An accident or suicide, they were wrong. I was right. I had killed her. I am delusional. I’m a delusional murderer. The realization hit me, and my world collapsed. She would never jump. 31Please respect copyright.PENANAUQ8Gxifqni
