“Goodbye.” She said, sparing one glance up at be before closing the door and blocking out my next protest.
‘I’m sorry’ she mouthed through the window, smiling sadly at me.
I stared at her, tears running down my face. “Why?”
She shook her head turning away from me and walking away.
A moment later my cell phone vibrated, turning my attention away from her dark living room and to the bright screen.
Bella would understand. One text and Veronica broke my heart all over again.
I switched my phone off, tucking it back into the pocket of my high waisted jeans and sitting down on the porch swing.
The wind gently blew, lifting strands of my long blonde hair and letting them dance in the cool autumn breeze.
This is not what Bella would want and I knew it.
After her death Veronica and I had been flung apart, sent to different therapists and swept up in different seas of people, but I knew Bella. And she would hate for either of us to go through this alone.
My phone vibrated again, two quick bursts of movement against my leg.
I slid it out, opening it when I saw Veronica’s name on the screen.460Please respect copyright.PENANAxk9zJlyrdU
It’s time to move on. I sighed, looking up at her empty house through the glass before standing from the swing.
The old wooden steps groaned slightly with my added weight and the familiar sound of wind chimes made me smile one last time.
I reached the road, one hand on the cars door before turning around to look at the brick building in front of me.
Taking a deep breath, I let out some of the worry as well. 460Please respect copyright.PENANAXCARSegs0Y

“Goodbye Veronica.” I said to no one in particular.
