Danny was in the best of moods today. And he had every reason to, for he was going to meet Angela, a girl he had befriended on the social network. The two of them had so much in common that their friendship was imminent. A few days back, Angela had suggested that they meet at the cafe outside the college, and Danny had readily agreed. In his heart of hearts, he was hoping that this friendship would develop into something more rewarding.
At two o'clock, Danny reached the cafe. Stepping inside, he saw that the cafe was empty save for a few people. He was even more relieved to see Angela seated at a table in the far corner, away from the crowd. He hurriedly made his way towards her. 749Please respect copyright.PENANATmbaK2LyBB
After initial introductions, Danny managed to strike up a conversation centered around books, one of their common areas of interest. This buoyed his spirits even more.
However, as the conversation progressed, he observed that Angela was becoming increasingly withdrawn, as if having second thoughts. Her interest in the conversation (and him) seemed to be dying down. Concerned that this would not pan out as he had hoped, he decided to get the rid of this unexpected obstacle.
"You've suddenly become quieter.", he began. "What's the problem?"
"I'm scared.", she replied in a timid voice.
Considering himself (wrongly) to be something of a lady killer, Danny thought this to be the opening he was desperately waiting for. The cafe was also empty of patrons now, which was an added advantage. He decided to make the most out of it.
"Don't be", he said, holding her hand. "What's there to be scared about?"
"You wouldn't understand.", she replied, "Its complicated."
"I'm all ears.", he replied, tightening his grip, hoping it would comfort her somewhat.
"No!", she squealed. "Let go of me!"
"What?", he asked, slightly confused at the outburst.
"Let go of me!"
"There's nothing to be scared of.", he replied, sliding his hand around her waist. "I am right here. I will protect you from harm."
"I said get your filthy hands off me.", she said, in an even voice.
There was something in the tone of her voice which sent a shiver down Danny's spine. But still, his pride compelled him to try once more.
"Its all right.", he said, trying to draw her close. "There is no need to overreact."
"You men are all the same!", she screamed. And before Danny had any chance to understand what was happening, she grabbed the fork from the table and rammed it in his neck.
Blood spouted in a merry fountain as the fork pierced through his jugular. A waiter, who had heard the initial commotion and had come to see whether he could be of assistance, gagged at the sight of the scene and immediately ran towards the kitchen to get assistance.
Angela, oblivious to all that was happening around her, was still stabbing the already dead Danny with the fork, screaming all the time "You stupid fool!! You thought you could seduce me with your smooth talk!! You brought it on yourself!! I tried to tell you I was scared of what I'd do to you!! Why did you not listen?" She had worked herself to such a frenzy that the authorities had to use tranquilizer darts to subdue her. 749Please respect copyright.PENANAwDIsQJmb7Q
Even as they took her unconscious body away, the fork, now adorned with a lot of blood and Danny's left eyeball, was still clutched tightly in her hand.
