This happened in 6th grade, by the way.
I lived in the same neighborhood as this guy who was in the same class as me at school. One day, my mom drove me to school and we saw that the guy was walking all the way there by himself. I told him he was in my class, and my mom felt pretty bad for him. She stopped the car and told him to come inside. Soon after that, we gave him and his older sister rides every single day to school. We also drove them home.
What I didn't tell my mom was that I had a bit of a crush on that guy that I will call Jason. So yeah, I looked forward to seeing Jason every morning. A few days later, he asked to be dropped off at the back of the school starting that day. My mom gave him a weird look but respected his wishes.
Then it hit me later — he was embarrassed to be seen with me.
However, in class, we'd talk a bit sometimes. I'd help him with math problems, and occasionally we'd engage in small talk. Things were going okay. Baby steps.
We walked together to the parking lot where my mom usually was. After ten minutes of waiting, she still didn't arrive. It nearly got to the point where I asked Jason and his sister if we should go to the main office to call my mom since she wasn't responding to my texts.
Then that's when my mom came. She looked straight-up pissed. If she was a cartoon character, smoke would be pouring out of her ears, I swear. When we got inside the car, she started YELLING at me. Screaming, actually. She said that she told me that she was waiting on the other side of the parking lot. I said I didn't know, but she insisted that she clearly told me this morning.
As my mom continued to scream at me in Korean, Jason just sat there helplessly. His older sister was sitting in the front with my mom, and she stayed silent too. I was so embarrassed, dude. After about five more minutes of all that, she started driving, not saying another word.
We still gave them rides each day, but I avoided contact with them as much as possible.

Bonus! Another awkward situation with Jason! I'm so glad I'm probably never going to see him again.
My mom said she'd come late to pick us up, so we could hang out by the playground nearby. I was pretty bored after a few minutes of hanging around, so I got on the swings. I told him to push me as a joke, but he actually did. He pushed me so hard that I fell off the swings and scraped my knee.
He apologized, and I told him it was fine because it really wasn't a big deal. Then when I got home, I showed my mom my knee and told her what happened. My purpose wasn't to snitch, obviously. But my mom made such a big deal out of it and told my dad.
They were literally so pissed. My dad straight up went to Jason's house even though I begged and begged him not to. I just sat down in the living room in disbelief. After about thirty minutes, my dad came back.
Dude. My dad literally sat him down and gave a lecture to that poor guy. Even said he nearly cried. I asked what Jason's parents' reactions were, and my dad said they just watched. That must have been humiliating as hell. Goddamn.
We stopped giving them rides. I never spoke to him again after that.
