Pitch black.
That was all he could see when he opened his eyes.
I'm..falling? Where...am I? I-I can't move..
He met eyes with some sort of figure, their face and facial features covered by some sort of void of white, their words were cold and sharp, cutting deep into him like a knife. Yet, he could not properly process these words, but he knew they hurt.
Stop...
"This is for your own good."
I can't..breathe...
"No one will ever leave again."
WAKE UP!
With a jolt, he sat up, realizing that last part was Flowey urging him awake but when he looked, Flowey's pot was not with him. "Flowey? Flowey!" he shouted, springing up with such adrenaline he felt only on the Surface. His ally would not be taken from him. He hear the sound of ground shifting and followed it, leading to the right. He saw roots everywhere, along with bones and how Flowey was being held by a skeleton.
"Well, well, well. I knew I smelled a rotten flower, what are you doing here? And don't lie, we both know it won't fool me coming from you." a skeleton said, threatening to tear off one of Flowey's petals. Despite Flowey's best attempts to fend him off, he was still in a tight spot and thought this would not end well in his favor. Even if he told him why he was here, he'd never believe him. "L-Let go of me you stupid smiley trashbag!" he hissed, trying to bite down with no sort of success.
Something resonated deep inside of him, seeing Flowey like this, a knife began to form out of his own determined energy and he threw it straight at the skeleton. Both were surprised, Flowey was more than relieved to see the human there and defending him no less. The knife wasn't aimed to hurt, but to remove Flowey from his hold. He went into the ground before this guy could get him and rejoined with the human, the pot was shattered at the skeleton's feet.
"Thank Asgore your here!" Flowey cried, wrapping himself like a bracelet onto his arm. "Are you alright?" he asked, concerned and this guy now turned to him. "Listen pal, I don't know who you think you are but if you want to hurt my friend, you'll have to get through me!" he said, though he was unarmed. No stick, no knife, no weapon.
"Heh, actually, far from it. Thought it was lyin' when he mentioned another human fell down here. And your uh, 'friend', doesn't have any good history with me." the skeleton replied, deciding to take a more peaceful approach. It was still 'night', Frisk was still in bed, but now he got the skeleton's name.
"The name is Sans, Sans the skeleton. Jeez, you must be either really bad with finding good friends or have really low standards for who you should befriend." he said, speaking about Flowey who scowled at him. He kept a serious face, watching Sans. He was a white skeleton, with a smile constantly spread along his face and currently giving a lazy wink and shrug like they were normal buddies or something. He wore a blue jacket, with a grey hood, wore some grey gloves, black and white basketball shorts and white socks with light pink slippers.
Sans' eyes narrowed, reading the kid and he could see his DEF, LV, and ATT was strange, especially his LV. No wonder he was friends with Flowey.
"So..you know the human in the home with that lady right? And you say their name is...Frisk?" he said, a shadow casting over his eyes as Sans misread his question. "Yep, little sparky kiddo. Either you've been through this before or-" "I can't believe it." he said suddenly, Flowey was confused and he remained looking down. "Another human existing or them being down here too?" Sans questioned, now following.
"They went missing on the surface. I thought maybe they were dead. So I went to the mountain to join them in death, though I was not going to be heading where they would, perhaps I'd get the luck of the draw and get a hug while passing on the way down." he said and then he looked thoughtful. "I'm glad to hear they are okay." he said and both watched him, seeing how he knew Frisk on the Surface. "I hope they find peace here or find some way back to the Surface without taking any lives."
"And you- what about you?" Flowey asked him and he laughed. "What do you mean? I'm fine where I am." he said back to the concerned flower. After all, this can't be a home if it's covered in the dust of a million monsters. Sans sees he's dealing with someone who's good, then turns to Flowey. "Did he kill a single monster?" "Sadly, no. That LV is from when he was above the Surface." he said scoffing, Sans could see now he might be dealing with a retired killer. Something he didn't think he'd call another person.
He sighed, and then leaned against the wall. "So. Why are you out here and now in there?" he said, tilting his head to Toriel's home. "I don't belong in there." he replied simply and Sans wouldn't just have him stay out in the open and sleep against a tree. "..Come on, let's go for a bit of a trip ok?" he said and his smile seemed to widen a little bit more.
"But that might turn out to be a long walk-" "Don't sweat it kid, I know a shortcut." he said grinning and offered his hand to the human. He looked at Flowey, who simply shrugged, making it clear he should take his chances. He took a deep breath and grabbed Sans' hand and then suddenly, it was like he was floating but he still felt the skeleton's hand in his own. Flowey was on him still, he touched his petal with his free hand gently to reassure his friend. Though..neither could see each other.
What was this?
It was like he was floating in nothing but it was something right? But suddenly, they were both jerked out of the void of emptiness and darkness but they did not stick their landing. Sans landed alright, then witnessed how him and Flowey hit the floor hard, but he made sure he didn't crush Flowey and he grunted when he landed. He felt like the wind just got knocked right out of him and it seemed like Flowey could agree as well, when he tried standing his legs felt wobbly and he fell back down.
A hand was offered and he saw it was Sans' hand. "Need a hand kiddo?" he offered, he nodded and took it and pulled himself up to stand and observe where he was. He was in some sort of house, it was pretty quiet so one could only assume it was empty besides them.
"This will be quick, my bro isn't here so it's just me and you, of course." he said and he brushed off Flowey. "You're LV-" Sans started and Flowey quickly piped in. "Was for when he was on the surface, he didn't hurt a damn monster down here." he said and Sans paused, not expecting the flower to defend him. "He still killed before-" "And maybe it was on accident! He ain't genocidal clearly or maybe he hates humans like we should." Flowey snapped at him and Sans held up his hands.
"Touchy subject much? You uh, you really care about this kid huh? I guess, someone like you saying they didn't, means a lot more than I should've suspected. Just do me a favor and keep this no killing streak going. I'll be up ahead in your journey if so." Sans said, smiling lazily then shrugged before teleporting them away and they landed on a pile of red leaves.
Flowey spat out the leaves and growled and the human sat up. "Why did he call me a kid? I'm like over 13, I'm no kid anymore." he said and helped Flowey. "More importantly, what are you hiding?" he challenged and scoffed. "But you'd tell me when the time is right, right?" he asked and received a nod. "Good, then let's beat it before-" he said and then a shadow loomed over them and he turned and saw this goat lady. "Another...human fell down? My most apologies! I- I never...considered this. Please, come in. Your...hurt. And you got here all by yourself? Good gracious!" she said and he brought in Flowey, there was no protest from her in doing so.
When he walked in he stood there for a moment. The warm comfort feeling throughout this place it felt like...
"Home.." he said, breathing out the words in a hushed whisper. Flowey knew that look, one of belonging and it was temporary but he would aim to see it much more. He turned to the woman and he shook his head. "I am- I am sorry...really. We must leave." he said and her look nearly broke his heart.
"Oh...I simply must..test something." she said and took a deep breath and suddenly they were in a fight. This wasn't a fight to prove his strength though, to prove he could protect himself. She wanted to make sure he could dodge better, to survive. He got hit a lot, she was sending impassable attacks. He was burned on multiple parts of his skin and he kneeled. His heart was pounding in his ear, faintly in the background he could hear Flowey saying to get up. But he couldn't get up, he collapsed.
Toriel gasped, not able to stop the attack she started and she was sure she was going to harm this poor human and Flowey thought he would be powerless to stop it. He closed his eyes, ready to accept this when how low his HP was.
█████! Get up █████! Everyone is depending on you! You still have so much to live for!
His eyes widened at that voice, it was...it couldn't be...could it? Suddenly, something resonated deep within his soul and like the magical energy flowed through him and the attacks came but...he was alive. A shield, made purely of energy just like the attacks was made to block them. Flowey and Toriel was shocked, but Toriel was both grateful he'd have a shield to better defend himself with and that he was alive.
He stood there, feeling the magic sink away into his body and the shield vanished, a feeling of some sort of drugged happy feeling came over him as he found himself smiling. He was still badly hurt, and low on HP but he was alive.
They were allowed to stay the night with Toriel, both witness his utter relaxation at laying in an actual soft bed in the longest of times. He thanked Toriel for letting them stay there, helping them leave tomorrow, and everything else. She smiled and said it was her pleasure, giving him a plate that held a single slice of Butterscotch Cinnamon Pie and he ate a couple bites then set it down as he laid down in the bed.
As his eyes drifted shut, he thought about that voice he heard when that power suddenly surged through him and fell asleep. When he left the Ruins and waved to Toriel, it finally dawned on him when they saw the face she made at saying he was leaving. He finally figured out the word for it. She felt heartache, someone had did this prior before her. The trouble would be catching up to this human. But it seemed like she had no intention of fighting him, perhaps her and the human fought earlier for some reason?
"Hey! We gonna leave or what?" Flowey said and he smiled at his smaller companion. "Yeah sorry, I was just thinking about something was all." he said and then he opened the huge door to the Ruins. "Of course you were..." was heard out of Flowey's mumbles and grumbles. But what he hadn't expected when he fell through the door and it slammed and creaked shut behind him was...
"Snow?" he asked in utter surprise, holding up a few clumps of snow in his hand and then he stood, realizing he had it completely on his body. "Well then, guess not every part of the Underground stays the same. Good to know. Let's keep heading forward Flowey." he said and trudged through the snow forward, confident on his journey.93Please respect copyright.PENANA5bWQnKY9hG
