The journey ahead continues and so far, Flowey has found nothing interesting to ideally chat about besides the destruction of both monster kind and humankind.
"Is there nothing else you like to do as a hobby?" he asked out of nowhere, Flowey halted, startled by this.
"A what?" he replied back, distaste obvious in his voice but he just ignored it. "Hobby. Baking or cooking, reading, crochet, that sort of thing. Your better company than just being alone but your idea of good conversations and ice breakers are something I agree eye to eye on. Is there something else you might enjoy?" he questioned the flower who looked disinterested. "Or are you just this boring when it comes to small talk?" he added on, which Flowey took offence to.
"Hey! I am NOT boring! You just lack the taste of destruction!" he countered back and he just shook his head. "Whatever you say, the stuff you talk about isn't really my style-" he said and then his soul jumped as they entered a fight.
"Most excellent...now we can practice on this unfortunate soul!" Flowey said, making his evil face again though he just tilted his head. "He looks like the frogs on the Surface, honestly a bit cute. I wonder if he's soft..." he mused out loud and touched the ACT button and then checked the monster's attack and defense. "Froggit?" he said, studying the name as the monster now fire flies at him.
He sighed, getting hit by a few but overall, he wasn't hurt to bad but he wasn't seeing a real reason to hurt this Froggit. Flowey said how to give him the word and he'd fire pellets at it and kill it.
"...No. It's just defending itself and those it cares about, that's no reason to slaughter it. I didn't slaughter you, did I? Besides, I made a promise. I plan on keeping that promise for as long as I possibly can." he replied, though he knew Flowey disagreed, he definitely got treated as an equal by the human. And this human falling down after Frisk, this extra path from both Genocide and Pacifist, it was all very interesting to Flowey to say the very least.
Though it wasn't slaughtering...it was something he'd play along with, but if it meant the human dying, he'd fight back no matter what he says. He adapted to the attack patterns, learning how to dodge them quickly and though his act was *Check *Compliment and *Threat, he surprised Flowey by doing something that was none of those options. He dodged the bullet patterns and got close to Froggit...and hugged the small monster in his arms.
"He is soft. How nice.." he mumbled, the small monster was surprised but very pleased by the affection as it was pet and gently held. "...Will every monster down here want to harm me to protect themselves, or just to kill me in general Flowey?" he asked, looking down at the monster as he let it go and spared it.
"It's...uncertain. Sure, I can speak for another human. I've seen things before, but your a little more...unsure of. Maybe is all I've got for this. Just don't get killed with your mercy bullshit." he said to the human who simply smiled secretively. "I won't Flowey, thanks for caring though." he said and began walking as Flowey set off on his rant of denial.
His smile only grew at that.

A little further in, he noticed most of the monsters haven't really confronted him, like they were convinced he wasn't a threat. But one fight simply does not do that. Flowey could see the gears turning in his head though and decided to inform him of more things. "Guess your pretty slow to not realize a couple things huh?" he said, and received a confused yet curious look from the human.
"Nuh- huh! I'm not telling!" Flowey said defiantly and felt like he should hoard this over the human. It was silent for a couple beats...then he felt his petal being lightly pulled. "Hey! Not fair! Let go!" he said and yet he wasn't hurt, it was more like having a cheek being pinched and lightly pulled.
He snickered and then continued on his path, eventually coming across another puzzle. He read the writing near a switch. "Did someone...prepare for a human such as myself to fall down here or something?" he questioned, pulling the switch as the spikes went down. "Can't see why a person would do such a thing, are they also a monster or human as well?" he mumbled out loud, seeing yet enough written instructions on pulling the switch and he followed them. He got curious on the other switch, but it didn't even work anymore, so he just decided to press on.
"This is all very...surreal." With that, he came across a much more difficult puzzle, one that is consisted entirely of spikes and Flowey narrowed his eyes at it. "Uh, maybe there was an answer key somewhere that reveals the answer?-"
"The way I see it. I could swim across, taking my chances that there aren't any water monsters waiting to pull me under for cheating. Or some some object to test and see which spike is...somehow less dangerous?" he offered, and him and Flowey shared a look. Next thing, he was doing his best to swim across without messing up his items or wetting up the Flowey in his hoodie. When he hauled himself out of the water, he was disappointed on how his clothes were soaked.
"My favorite hoodie...a well made sacrifice, it should dry. This place is relatively warm after all. So uh, how do monsters work down here Flowey. So I don't get killed. I can see they can attack me, and from your talk I know I can attack them back. But with my LV, that might kill them in one blow." he stated and heard Flowey muttering something along the lines of 'that's kind of the point' before piping up. "A barrier keeps all monsters down here, the barrier can be broke with seven human souls and so far we only have six. Of course, you can't pass through the barrier and leave without a monster soul. Which means you'll have to kill some monster to even leave." he said, looking proud of the information he knew.
"So...not only am I like the last human needed for their freedom, but also, I need to kill a poor monster to leave? Wouldn't they be trying to take my soul then? What if the monster doesn't want to live and give it up anyways, would that still be bad if they give me their soul?" he questioned and Flowey looked baffled.
"What about you Flowey?" he asked and Flowey suddenly looked insulted. "WHAT ABOUT ME HUH?!" he shouted back and he sighed. "Calm your petals, I mean...what happens to you? I wouldn't just want to leave you behind, we're a team now. Wasn't implying I'd kill you to get out of here and to be honest...I'd rather stay here with you some more rather than leaving." he said and Flowey's look softened. "You...you really mean that?" he muttered, averting his eyes.
"Yes. I do. And if I do die, I'd rather you take my soul, cross the barrier, harness your inner killing self and nab that final soul, or 6 others if you haven't got enough, for everyone and become the hero for everyone trapped down here. Would you do that for me?" he questioned and Flowey stuttered, tripping over his own words at his suggestion. "T-That's absolutely absurd! That plan wouldn't even work!" he sputtered out and a small chuckle came from the human.
"Heh, maybe so. But can you try for me anyways? I'd want you to have an happy ending, even if mines isn't so happy." he said and smiled at Flowey. Flowey looked bashful and scoffed, looking away. "Just..focus on surviving you idiot." he said and the human nodded, accepting this because he knew deep down, Flowey and him were alike in more ways than one.
Something he hoped in the future would help them bond better than they already were.

The next area they reached, had more complex puzzles. "So...all of these leaves are supposed to look like platforms but some don't actually have any underneath them?
Was there supposed to be some sort of blueprint that we missed?! It seems like this might break my leg- I don't know how far the ground is!" he exclaimed and Flowey spoke up. "Maybe use the same idea you had for the spikes." he suggested and he nodded. "Good idea." he said and picked up a rock and placed it down but it fell right through the false platform.
"...We might have to take our chances with this one Flowey." he started and Flowey nodded vigorously. "Yep, agreed." he said back right away and made sure to hold onto the human and after falling down enough times, they went back to find the answer to this puzzle...Then felt stupid they didn't see it before.
"Worse. Puzzle. Design. EVER." he grumbled and had Flowey agreeing with him as they went through. They found most things were still...solved. Of course, after a while it'll reset itself but it seemed like this was recent enough that someone went through here.
A monster or a human? Friend or foe? He wondered these things as he went through, they eventually neared the end of the cavern and they suddenly stopped. "Hey! Why the hell are we-" "I'm tired." he cut off Flowey, sitting down at the feet of the tree, nearby was a house. Of course he knew he could go in or try his luck but...a familiar feeling washed over him when he saw the lights on and two figures walk past.
"Hey...you uh, you alright over there pal?" Flowey asked, sensing the negative energy resonating off of his human companion. "You ever just...you ever just get the feeling you don't belong..anywhere? And did you ever feel that same feeling 10 times over, when you went to a place you should belong at but..it felt like someone got there first and replaced you and everyone is happy without you?" he asked and Flowey took a sharp breath and looked down, suddenly matching his sadness.
"Yeah..I get that feeling almost all the time. You feel that way...seeing a home?" he questioned, and he just shook his head. "Seeing a loving family together, a home that might welcome me in or shun me away like the rest. I've got nobody out on the Surface. What would I have to go back to? The perpuating feeling of dread and loneliness?" he asked and sighed. "...I'm an orphan up there. Fighting for a scrap of clothing, bits of food, and a little bit of compassion everyday. Foster families are always bad or don't want me. Hypocrites everywhere I look, but as soon as you act out and use your emotions, they've got cameras...Just to title you further as the beast you are seen as."
"I looked over, I was excited. For once, a fresh start. A fresh home. I planned to end my life when I climbed this mountain, and now I've met a better one. Maybe I'm dead, maybe I'm not. But...my happiness...it dropped when I saw there was a kid in there. Might be human but...I guess that woman has only room for one human in their life. That's why she never thought another would fall right after. Why I was with you. You knew she wouldn't come to save me...didn't you?" he asked and Flowey's sad expression spoke volumes.
"I can't blame you. I suspected it. There was someone else like me down here and...You've seen most of this stuff before or just from afar. But me being here, is a flaw of it's own isn't it? It wasn't predictable, it's never happened before. And it might not again." he said and pulled his hood over his head and held Flowey's pot in his arms.
"So. I decided...It might be best living in someone's shadow. Maybe in some cases but to live like that in there? I can't do that. Bet she doesn't even have another room for me.." he said and then he sighed. "I'm tired..so I'm gonna sleep here. You try to get some rest too Flowey. We've gotta find our own home here now." he mumbled and then moved Flowey to be in his hoodie so he wouldn't be cold.
"I won't let you live in someone's shadow like I have many times. It's time we let someone else be the shadow, and move into the light and create our own shadows. But for now...we can rest in the shade, where it's somewhat safe." he said and closed his eyes. Flowey's heart ached for this guy, not only was it like they'd felt the same pains, he now could see why he hadn't resorted to violence yet. That determination. That hope. He was older than Frisk and held onto it longer than her, since he was young in fact. That's why his was stronger.
And it would grow stronger with every bond he builds or breaks. He was creating a new world for the two of them, and Flowey felt...something. He felt like he belonged and that this run would last longer than either of the other ones, this one would be...for them both. At that, he closed his eyes and fell asleep listening to the steady breathing of his human friend.
