Two sides. Smothered in anguish, in pain, in hatred. Forced into war for reasons unknown. They were given no choice, they were Creators or Destroyers and that was that.
There were the Creators, the artists, the writers, those who forged beauty in a world of evil. Creators lived in beautiful homes, full of beautiful people who were forging more and more wonderful inventions to aid the war.
There were the Destroyers, who searched and killed the Creators, or at least attempted to do so. They resided deep in forests, in secret bases, ready to fight whoever they saw, including their own kind.
The Creators could not cause harm. The Destroyers were programmed to.
Keiji was a Destroyer, a specific sort of them, commonly referred to as a Raider. Like everybody else with his occupation, his sort had one job, to aid the Destroyers.
Destroyers could not craft, it wasn’t something they enjoyed at all. To obtain weapons, they couldn’t make them themselves. In fact, the only people who could make weapons were the Creators, on the other side of the Protection Path.
Hence, the Raiders. Their work was dangerous, they had to sneak into the Creator’s side and raid them of all their weapons, supplies and architecture.
That way, the Destroyers’ side, especially near the Protection Path looked similar to the ones of the Creators, full of beautiful designs and ingenious inventions and that way, the Creators felt threatened.
Threat. That was all this pathetic war was. Threat. No actual violence. Except for the uncommon occurrence that a Creator would come over to the Destroyers’ side, in which he would be tortured and killed. Yet there were no actual invasions, just unkept promises that one day, they would.
Keiji personally thought that both sides should just start working together and benefit all of humanity. He couldn’t tell anyone he thought that way though, he would likely be killed on the spot.
He kicked a small pebble down the Protection Path as he sulked, watching it crash along the white, smooth sediment.
There was really no way his life could change, he realised as he pondered how depressing his society actually was. The Creators and Destroyers would never come to an agreement, and would always hold their seething grudge, no matter what.
At least, that’s what he used to believe. He was soon to meet a group, who gave themselves the title of ‘The Peacemakers’, and they were going to change Keiji’s dystopian reality entirely.
(this is only an introduction/prologue thing because I got tired, but I really like this story idea. I usually don’t like writing dystopian or fantasy stories, but I might actually write this one myself, if that’s okay with you :)
I also had no idea that Keiji meant criminal in Japanese, I just liked the name to be honest. I suppose it does suit him though!)
