The Monitors were after me. I could feel it, the tightening in my chest, the subtle pressure on my gut, urging me to stop, urging me to give in, but I ignored it. That was relatively easy. Just focus on the mission, I chided myself. It can't fall into their hands. If it did, that was the end. No more plans, no more plots, nothing. It was all gone. A blast of plasma came out of nowhere and nearly hit me. I looked around, but there was no one. It didn't make sense. Plasma-guns aren't long-range. That's better suited to Laser models. But no one was close enough to have shot that blast at me. Then I saw it. 232Please respect copyright.PENANA4mwcDGYmA7
A slight waver in the air, like a heat wave, but I knew better. This type of wave was unique. It was made by only one thing. An Umbra-Pallium, probably Model 16. I was lucky. I would never have found the person, if not for the wave defect. I shot at the wave and it moved. Faster than any human could normally move. In fact, faster than any being except for a... no. It was impossible. It moved like an Altaarian, but that breed of human had been killed by the Council years ago. They had deemed it too dangerous, and so had eliminated it. None were left. Except...how had he moved so fast then? There was no other logical explanation. I scoffed to myself. There was no other explanation. This was all impossible. At that second, I felt something hot in my chest, like my heart was melting. My vision spun, and the last thing I remember is a man with a silver glow standing above me, with a look of pain on his face, and me going, "I don't look that bad, do I?" Then everything went black.232Please respect copyright.PENANAAMP9YTxp1P
