Alone

The wall dripped

Along the splattered lines

Down their ruby lanes

To the mountain on the floor

No molehill could be so large

As this mountain on the rug

Crimson rivers, scarlet lakes

A crumpled, scarred up meadow

The mower lay still

Deep in the puddle beside

A vulture no longer circling,

A falcon shot down from flight

One instance

One argument

One life

One mistake

But then it had been a time long coming

Patience only lasts so long

If only it hadn’t felt so wrong

Even from someone else’s hand

The door locked shut

Now I was alone

With a secret hard to bear

And a mess to clean

As much as I hated him

As much as he hated me

I wish I had been his undoing

But alas, it wasn’t me

They won’t believe me

That I know too well

The police shall hound me down

But for what cause?

Maybe I should have stopped it

Maybe I should have cared

Maybe I should have never told him

Maybe I should have run

I’ll lay it low for now

Playing the cards he’s dealt me

It’s not like this is my first frame

And probably not either my last

He’s a crafty bloke indeed

To have gone through so much de-tail

Just, I’d like to know why?

What had I done to warrant this?

I’m sure the answer will come

With time. They always do.

For now I must bide my time

And think of what to do

There is but one I know

Who’d ever maybe believe me

I know it’s an iffy plan

But surely she will aid my side

Because, it wasn’t me

I’ll swear it all year long

For once, it wasn’t me

Though I rather wish it were
