“Hmmm, yes of course. You are the best among my creations, I know you will not disappoint. The first condition, do not forget the reason for your existence, my little creature, you must kill the Supreme.”
I nod my head even though I can’t see them, I know they can see me. “I understand.”
“Second, I want you to take this child away from the black mages. Do not let him engage in black magic. Once he does, his death by your hands will still be inevitable.”
I see… “Yes, Diem…”
“Third, don’t hate yourself for being seen as my Chosen One. After all, it is one of the reasons why you deserve to be loved. Love yourself, my lovely Astra, it will do you a great deal of contentment and happiness.”
My face heated as shame engulfs me. “So, you knew...I- yes...I will make sure to comply with your wishes. I apologize for being ungrateful.”
They make a sound like they clicked their tongue. “Yes,” comes their sulking voice. “I get really sad whenever you think like that, but I forgive you. It has never happened.”
My eyes grow round. “What? I-”
“Fourth, love all of my creatures, Astraea. They were there to provide for all of you, in return, all they ask for is a little bit of care and love. Remember Astraea, I gifted you with enormous power because I knew you are not one to choose violence first over peace. You will not wield your power against your kind unless there is no other way.”
I bow my head. “I am humbled, Diem. I am like this because of all your blessings.”
Diem chuckles. “My, I knew you were perfect…”
I blush at the compliment but didn’t say anything.
“I also have a reminder,” they say. “Though you know what the future events will be, they will change once you intervene, therefore, do not rely too much on your knowledge.”
“I understand..”
“Well then,” Diem’s urgency makes me look up. “Close your eyes, my lovely Astraea…”
I do as told and not long after, a gentle warm wind blows in my face, and I feel my hair, which was tied up in a high ponytail, getting undone. Cassian’s body also begins to slip away from me. I fall into a moment of panic but eased knowing Diem was probably the one who made it this way.
Silence settles in.
I open my eyes to see the ceiling of my old bedroom. It is painted a light blush of pink -- to my horror. I raise my arms to see they are chubby and short. I jolt up on my bed and look around. Everything around me is pink.
This can’t be. THIS.CAN’T. BE.
The door to my room opens, pulling me out of my terror for a brief moment, just for it to surge back up again when I see my nanny’s youthful face.
“Oh my,” comes her soothing voice. “You woke up early, My Lady.” She smiles and let herself into the room.
“Na-nanny-” I gasp and cover my mouth when I hear a tiny voice.
I follow her with my eyes as she moves around my room.
“You must be quite excited, Miss. After all, today is the first day of the month of Diem.”
First day of Diem’s month. It’s the date that Diem revealed their presence to Tiviena with a blinding light and a voice echoing throughout the whole world. It’s also that day.
My Nanny sniffs and wipes a tear off her face then beams at me. “I can’t believe our First Miss is turning five today!”
