Sunday, June 11: Las Vegas
In the bright, useless screens, I saw glimpses of teenagers, like myself, beg for an ever-so-short visit to the land of gambling. The black hole of futures and dreams. The permanent vacuum of finance and family. And of course, a paradise of such amiable people with wonderful intentions; nothing near cheating for money, stripping, alley-murders, etc. It's also a family-friendly place for a nice weekend picnic trip.
Bullshit.
"Birdie. We're going. I'm the older one between us two, so suck it up. We're going."
I denied, "Look, I really don't think it's a good idea. I thought we went over this?"
She put the M&M doll back on the white table, calmly. She noticed my lack of energy, as I had spent the whole entire day hearing my voice repeat the same question, over... and over... and over again.
Why did Mom leave?
"Are you alive? Hello??" She groaned and crossed her arms, waiting for a response.
I rolled my eyes, and before having the chance to utter a retort, she pulled my arm with utmost defiance and strength and ran out through the perfectly timed sliding doors. The streets were packed with silly men messing around with their friends, teenagers slurping on alcoholic slushes, giant tour groups huddling with each other in 100-degree weather.
The roads were giving off hot air, distorting my eyesight. My maroon hoodie jacket hung around my waist as I slowly began to regret wearing long, black spandex. My thicker, gray graphic T-shirt wasn't helping either.
Evvie skidded her heels to a stop, making me bump into her perfectly fine and sweat-less body. I grabbed my knees, panting and desperate for fresh, cool air. Without thinking any further, I almost crawled my way into the elegant, yet doubtful building, immediately feeling the whoosh of the air conditioner.
A voice filled with pride said, "See? It's nice in here."
I shot a glare towards her, but instantly, a drunk man staggered and hit my shoulder. I blew up a few stands of my russet hair and flat-tired him. He tripped, but he was too drunk to actually look behind. My shoulders slumped of exhaustion, but before I had the chance to find a seat somewhere, Evvie slapped my back and propelled me towards the entrance.
But of course, I couldn't hate her.
"How old are you again?"
I finished shaking my head in disbelief after seeing three women shake places I've never thought possible and replied, "Eighteen."
"Oh my god."
"Yeah. 'Oh my god.' That's the whole reason why I told you no! I'm underage Evvie! Plus, I told you before!"
She scratched her head and looked around. She faced me and stared. She stared at all the uncomfortable places.
"Alright, even though your boobs are a bit...--"
"Small? Tiny? Microscopic? Miniscule? Nonexistent?"
"I wouldn't say nonexistent, but they are small. At least you have a little curve above your waist."
"That's the best compliment I've gotten in all my life."
"No problem. Hey, at least there's some sheer in your spandex. Some skin at least. Anyways, I think you'll be okay if you put on a bit of make up."
I scrunched my face as if I had sucked half a lemon all at once.
"You put that gross stuff on me, I'll break your all your lipstick and pencil sh**."
She rolled her eyes and said, "You want to wait out here or go outside into the blazing weather? I mean you can, I won't stop you."
And something clicked.
"Fine. Give."
She smiled and handed me lipstick, a crimson red to be exact, some black stick and brush thing in a tube.
She sang, "That's all ya' need. It's probably gonna be too dark for others to even notice whether or not you have foundation or not."
"Foundation? What is that."
"Girl, don't you have a phone? Outstagram? Flickchat?"
"Nope. No need."
"Wow. Okay. You have friends?"
"Yeah, I actually do. Three best friends."
"Alright, just curious. Anyways, the restroom seems to be... over there! You see it?"
"No. And I can't put it on by myself. What's this black, liquid thing?"
She made a pitiful face and shook her head while pointing her arm towards the restroom as she led me towards it.917Please respect copyright.PENANA10HHDB8ALU

A/N: Just saying, I personally love Las Vegas, which is one of my favorite places. It's just Birdie's perspective and ignorant thoughts about places she's never been to. Plus, her mom just disappeared.
I'M STILL EDITING. You'll see some changes as time goes by.
Thank yeh for reading.
