God. Can I leave? No. Can I punch him in the face? Yes. Before I knew it, I swung my fist at his jaw, but he caught it. He caught my punch. Why did I do that? Why? I groaned in frustration, pausing in all my actions, my fist still balled up inside his large palms. After what seemed like two decades, I was thrown back into the tables, my back aching as the pain settled on the top part of my spine. I hissed in pain, getting back up. I didn’t even stabilize myself before I went lunging headfirst into the boy. We were both thrown to the ground from the surprising and unexpected weight. He quickly shoved me off, getting back to his feet before I could even register what had happened.
As we ruthlessly fought, I could feel the countless stares of students laid upon us. The guards had started to take notice of what was going on and by the time they were walking towards us, I was on the ground, curled up in a ball, knees to my chest and eyes closed shut. I didn’t feel anything. I didn’t feel any pain, but when I did, it was from the past hits the boy had done to me. Had stopped hitting me because the guards were holding him back? I was too scared to open my eyes. I whimpered as I felt the heat of someone’s breath along my neck.
“I’ll let you go this one time. But now you know, how much power I hold.” One tear slid down my face, as I relaxed; feeling the heat leave me. I let out a slight gasp, opening my bloodshot eyes. I could feel large hands grip my shoulders, and hands underneath my armpits. I groaned and hissed in pain. Who was holding me? Who? I looked to my side and saw the same guard that had helped me through the security procedures.
“I’m guessing that getting into a fight on your first day was on your bucket list?” I let out an worn out laugh as he looped my arm around his neck, lifting me out and walking us towards the cafeteria doors.

I vividly remember one quote I had seen on the streets on a poster hung up on brick walls. It had said something meaningful, something that I had set as my life moral.
‘If you fight, you might lose, if you don’t fight, you’ve already lost.’ Those were the words on an advertisement for some football league sign-ups. I have done nothing in my life to contribute with anything football related, but the quote seemed to stick with me ever since I saw it. 267Please respect copyright.PENANAi3160LH81x
With that, I opened my eyes, I was faced with blinding white lights. I remembered what had happened recently, the fight, and how the boy that I thought was attractive, wanted to kill me.
“You awake?” I heard a voice above me speak.
“God? Am I in heaven?” I murmured.
“You wish.” I started to focus my eyes, and a shape formed in front of my face. It was the boy from the cafeteria, he was seated on a small chair beside me. I grunted as I sat up. Looking around, I spotted the guard that brought me here, sitting not too far away; right next to the door. “You clearly have a thing for angering people." I chuckled.
“Please. I just asked a question, who would’ve known a small question would cause such a big deal?” I scoffed, rubbing my temples.
“You got yourself a life sentence on Mateo’s blacklist.” I let out a sigh and rubbed my kneecaps. “Smartass.” I looked him in the eye. He had features like I’ve never seen before. He was thin and frail, and he had cut his uniform into a crop top. He had dark brown hair, almost the color of milk chocolate, and his eyes matched his hair, with the similar oak brown. He had freckles scattered along his cheeks and neck. He wore a black cross choker, and I could make out a few makeup products on him. “Quit staring, you’ll burn a hold through my face.”
“Should you not be in class?” I squinted.
“I would be, if you didn’t start that stupid fight of yours. You should be as well, but then again, you decided to start a stupid fight.” He emphasized the word stupid more than he needed to.
“Sorry.” I muttered a genuine apology and looked down. I was situated on what seemed like a hospital bed. I had bandages along my knuckles. I reached for my ribs, an aching feeing spreading. “I’m shirtless.” I spoke monotoned. “Where’s my shirt?” I looked around.
“Nurse took it away, there’s a new one next to you. Your old one was splattered with little specks of blood,” He looked me dead in the eyes. “Your blood.”
“Oh.” I rubbed my now bandaged waist and flinched at my own touch on the wound. “That boy did this to me?”
“No shit, Sherlock. Who else would have a killer punch like his?” I let out another long sigh.
“I want to go home.” I leaned back and closed my eyes.
“Where do you live?” I could feel the gaze of the boy wandering on my face.
“In the dumps. An abandoned building.” I spoke softly, remembering the concrete walls and rock-solid floors. Feeling such nice fabric underneath me gave me an unsettling feeling. I'm still not used to this luxury. I opened my eyes again, now looking at him. He had a look of sympathy on his face, and I could see his eyes soften.
“Well, you’ll get used to this place in no time. Although you’ve already become an enemy of one of the most popular and strongest dudes here.” He sarcastically spoke.
“I don’t think so.” I sadly smiled. “I really don’t.”
