Toey opened his bedroom window.
The night air was cool and the moon was hidden behind thick clouds.
Leaving the window, he sat on his bed and waited desperately for his phone to ring.
It rang finally.
Coming out of his house, Toey saw a luxury saloon car parked outside.
As he walked towards the car, the driver stepped out.
It was Chancellor Metha.
"I want us to have dinner together.," he told Toey.
Toey nodded and got into the passenger side.
As he drove away, Chancellor Metha waited for Toey to say anything, but he didn't.
Some time later they arrived at a hotel that also housed an art space for exhibition and a drama theatre.
Upon entering the foyer a concierge was waiting to receive them. They followed him to a private dining room.
The room was elegantly decorated with red and white balloons, and red and white roses. The table was set with fine China and sparkling silverware.
"This is so beautiful," Toey declared as he admired the white tiered cake which was also decorated with red roses.
"That means you like everything?" The Chancellor asked
Toey smiled at him.
"I do. It's very lovely."
Chancellor Metha pulled Toey onto his arms and they kissed.
They sat across the table from each other.
*Everything feels so exciting and that only happens when I am with you," Chancellor Metha avowed.
"That is so cliche," Toey remarked playfully as the waiter came in and poured out their wine.
"You speak as if you do not believe in love."
"I do believe in love," Toey said with an ardent expression.
"I love you."
Chancellor Metha waited breathlessly for Toey's response.
Toey only sipped his wine.
"I think I love you too."
"You think?"
The Chancellor charged.
Toey burst into laughter.
Reaching into the pocket of his coat, Chancellor Metha brought out a small grey box.
He opened it before placing the box in front of Toey.
The ring embedded in cushion had rainbow colored square cut sapphires set diamonds on either side.
"What is this for?"
Excitement danced in Toey's eyes.
"I thought this ring would look good on your finger."
"It looks expensive," Toey said as he took out the ring and slipped it onto his finger.
"Do you like it?" Chancellor Metha asked.
"I do like it," Toey glowed with happiness.
Chancellor Metha smiled at Toey with pride in his eyes.
"What do you think of this one?"
Toey pulled out a navy colored long sleeved Polo shirt for Fai's inspection.
"It's nice," was her simple reply. "Do you want to buy it?"
"Am thinking about it," Toey examined the clothing closely.
The three friends were browsing through the clothes on display at the Ralph Lauren store.
"Buy this one instead," Pun came forward and offered a bright green Polo shirt to his friend.
"I like the green one better," Fai adjoined as she held up a classic Ralph Lauren white short skirt.
"That skirt would pair well with that white shirt that has the bright orange stripes," Pun suggested as he pointed to rank full of blouses and shirts.
"How was your cinema date with Beer?" Toey asked.
"Has he confessed his feelings yet?" Fai asked.
"No, he has not confessed anything. But his actions tell me all I need to know," Pun replied dreamily.
"He has not confessed yet?" Toey chimed in while looking through a collection of bow ties.
Pun nodded.
Fai was confused.
"So are you spending time together as friends or as a couple?"
"We are definitely spending time as a couple," Pun clarified with emphasis on "Couple."
"I think Beer likes you," Toey patted his friend"'s shoulder as he passed by him.
"Be careful and not let your emotions run with you," Fai advised caution.
"Have you two kissed?" Toey asked with a naughty curiosity.
"He has kissed me on the forehead."
"But not on the lips," Fai spoke as she tied a silk scarf her neck while looking in the mirror.
"No, we have not kissed on the lips yet," Pun inspected a collection of Vaughn canvas low top sneakers.
"The way you two are spending time together one would think you two are officially a couple," Toey said as he helped Fai try on a new scarf.
"Did you notice the way he smiled at Pun when he saw us in the parking lot last Friday?"
Fai whispered secretly to Toey.
"I did," Toey whispered looking in Pun's direction.
"Pun."
Pun turned and looked at Fai.
"Just make sure this relationship is real and not something you have made up in your head."
"Oh my God! Mick is here!" Toey announced suddenly.
"Where?"
Both Pun and Fai cried in union as they looked about.
Toey pointed towards the store's entrance.
"Over there at the entrance, he seems to be talking on his phone," Toey said with a lowered voice.
"Yes, it is Mick," Pun acknowledged.
"What is he doing here?"
Toey looked at both Fai and Pun.
"People come to malls for all sorts of reasons," Fai said before observing after a long study of Mick as he spoke on the phone.
"He is looking handsome don't you think?"
Pun thought the same but gave no response.
"I have a bet," Fai declared.
"If you can make Mick buy you anything from Ralph Lauren. Toey and I will give you 3,000 Baht."
"I am with Fai on this one. Get Mick to spend money and we will give you 3,000 Baht."
Pun looked at Fai and Toey with determination.
"You think I can't get Mick to spend his money?"
"We will like to see you try," Fai smiled in Pun's face.
"I will show you," Pun vowed as he walked valiantly the store's entrance.
"Is he really going to do this?"
Toey was both excited and horrified at the same time.
"I think so," Fai uttered with disbelief.
Toey grabbed onto Fai's arm. "Pun is mad taking on this bet."
"Come, let's hide." Fai advised.
Quickly they hide behind a Shelf of neatly folded Polo shirts.
Coming out of the store, Pun called sweetly out to his target.
"Mick."
Mick turned and saw Pun.
Pun smiled adoringly at him.
Then after a moment when their eyes were locked together, Pun winked at him.
Mick came over to Pun.
"Mick I was just wondering why have you not asked me out on a date?"
Looking perplexed and puzzled, Mick asked: "Do you want to go on a date with me?"
Pun wrapped his hands around Mick's waist and his head against his chest.
Fai and Toey gasped from their hideout.
"Mick, you have such broad shoulders."
It took all the blarney Pun had to say this.
"Really?"
"Yes, you do. And you smell so amazing that I want nothing more than to make love to you."
At this point Pun could not believe the amount garbage coming out of his mouth.
But there was a bet and he was determined to win at all cost.
"Pun are you all right?" Mick spoke with genuine concern.
"Of course I am all right," Pun smiled, wrapping his arms around Mick's neck this time.
"What brings you to the mall?"
Mick was still in shocked by Pun's behavior but went along with it.
"I am meeting with a relative, what about you?"
"I came to Ralph Lauren but I can't afford anything," Pun moaned sadly.
"What do you want from Ralph Lauren?" Mick inquired.
Pun smiled in triumph.
"Let me show you."
Upon entering the store, Pun quickly snatched up a couple of items without giving a second thought as to what they were.
"These are the things that I want," Pun now said to Mick.
Mick collected the items and took them to the sales associate.
Pun followed behind.
Mick took out his wallet and retrieved an Express Platinum credit card, and handed it to the sales associate.
Pun's eyes grew wide when he saw the credit card.
"What card is he using?" Toey asked from their hideout.
Fai squinted her eyes.
"I think it's a Thai American Express Platinum credit card."
"Oh, so he is rich," Toey remarked.
When all the payments were done, Mick handed the carrier bags to Pun.
Coming out of the store, Pun placed his hand on Mick's arm.
"Mick you really are so sweet. I am truly grateful."
Before Mick could give a response Pun kissed him.
Fai and Toey's jaws dropped to the floor as they watched the kiss between Mick and their friend.
The next day, Fai and Toey wired Pun the promised 3,000 Baht.
