The sky was tar-black and huge clouds enveloped the blue sky into a dark grey. The thunder roared and the rain began pouring over the city. In a flash, people began scurrying towards their homes and Aera stood from the bench and embraced the rain, even though she was shivering and had flimsy clothes on.
Sungjin, on the other hand, was about to head home in the rain when he spotted Aera shivering in the cold rain. He thought long and hard about what to do to help her. He trudged towards her and unzipped his jacket and hung it over her.
She looked at me, the first time I've seen her true face in a long time. I was captivated by her beauty and broken by her sad expression.
I moved towards her, cutting the distance between us and kissed her cheek. I embraced her in a tight hug. She blushed in surprise and was frozen and speechless, but soon after I took off her hood and she faced me.
She did the unexpected. She kissed me on my lips and felt her hands run through my hair, holding me at the nape of my head, deepening the kiss. Suddenly, she broke off the kiss and gave a pained smile. Before I could utter a word, she ran away.
'Aera, wait!', I said while looking at the direction she ran. But she was already in the distance, getting smaller by the second.
'Aera.'

She was blushing uncontrollably from the kiss. It wasn't like Aera to make a first move but it just seemed like she was longing for it. After a few minutes of running, she stopped at the seaside. Clumps of seaweed got washed up onto the shore. She breathed in the smell of salt in the air. She removed the scrunchie from her hair and let the wind blow through her hair. She couldn't stop thinking about what would've happened if she didn't ditch Sungjin back there.
'Sungjin, I so desperately want to give you a chance.', she sighed. 'But after what you did to me, I simply cannot.' 'I still love you very much, but I don't know if telling you would make a difference.'
'The reason I can't forgive you, dear Sungjin, is that I don't want to get hurt by you again.', she cried, slowly letting the tears flow freely as she continued thinking of him. She strolled towards the coast, flipping her sandals off and feeling the lukewarm sand underneath her feet.
'My love, I want to be with you once more, but it will not be so easy anymore.', she said in grief, the washed up feeling of dread entering her again.

Sungjin ran after Aera but saw that she stopped at the seaside. The clouds drained the sea and sky of its beauty and Sungjin could only see Aera there. He saw her take off her scrunchie in her hair, letting it blow in the wind. He was captivated by her hair blowing in the wind.
'Sungjin, I so desperately want to give you a chance.', she sighed. 'But after what you did to me, I simply cannot.' 'I still love you very much, but I don't know if telling you would make a difference.'
He blushed and smiled in happiness. She loved him, but she was too hurt from her past to accept it. He wanted to fix her broken pieces and hold her in his arms.
He walked closer to her and she started walking closer to the coast, flipping her sandals off. He followed her and she sat down on the coast. It looks like she was closing her eyes.
He walked to her and sat next to her.

'It's pretty, isn't it?', a voice asked. She urgently opened her eyes and whipped her head around to see Sungjin sitting next to her. He had quiffed brown hair that was thick and lusterious. His were a mesmerizing shade of golden brown. His face was strong and defined and had dark eyebrows which had a joyful expression. She sighed in relief.
'Yeah, I guess it is.', she said. 'Is this your favorite place to go?'
'Nicest place to get some peace and quiet.', he said. 'I need to ask you something, Aera.', he said. 'Is it about that... kiss?', Aera nervously asked. Sungjin nodded his head. 'I didn't mean to.', she sighed. 'I know.', he said. 'It's okay.'
Aera looked down and fumbled with her hands. 'Are you sure it's okay to just ignore it?'
Sungjin held Aera's hands and she looked up to him with a confused face. Sungjin removed one of his hands and cupped her face. 'It's okay because I enjoyed it, Aera.' He kissed her on the lips and she melted into the kiss. Sungjin wrapped an arm around her waist and held her close to his chest. He felt warm and toned when he hugged Aera and she felt comfortable with him.
They broke the kiss and Aera cuddled into his chest. They closed their eyes and remained in that position until the shower passed.
When the shower passed, they had both fallen asleep on each other. Sungjin was lying down on the floor and Aera was on top of him, Sungjin's jacket over her and himself. Her golden hair was spread over Sungjin's chest and Aera had her hand on his chest, listening to his beating heart while Sungjin's hand was on Aera's head.
They both woke up, alarmed to be in such a weird pose and Aera jumped off of him. 'I'm sorry for doing that.', she said. 'You don't need to be sorry.', he chuckled.
The storm had passed and the seaside was deserted, except for Sungjin and Aera. "Do you love me?', she asked.
Sungjin embraced her in a tight squeeze and kissed the top of her forehead.
'Aera Yi, I will always love you.'
