their empty gestures,

their charade of connection.

He clutches at his time now,

guarding each fleeting moment,

weighing every thought

against the weight of the lies he's told.

But he sees it clearly:

the net that ensnares him,

threads spun of expectation,

of obligations that silence his voice.
