Scene 7 opens
Jerald H/KJ: *reads his Bible* God, I need your help, please! *continues reading his Bible* Luke 11:4, ‘Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation.’ *closes his Bible, his eyes, and prays* God, I’ve fallen down a dark hole and I need help getting out. *starts crying*
Eli/Conductor: *knocks on Jerald H’s door and walks in*
Jerald H/KJ: *opens his eyes and quickly wipes away his tears*
Eli/Conductor: Is everything alright?
Jerald H/KJ: Not really.
Eli/Conductor: Do you wanna talk about it?
Jerald H/KJ: I’ve done a lot of things, but this is probably the worst.
Eli/Conductor: I’m sure it’s not the worst, man.
Jerald H/KJ: *stands up* I’ve seen things, dude! Things that are seriously messed up! And Satan keeps trying to trap them in my mind! I’m sick and tired of it! I’ve been talking to God a lot and I can still feel Satan trying to tempt me and pull me away.
Eli/Conductor: Jerald, you need to remember that God will forgive you. He always does!
Jerald H/KJ: I know, but… It’s hard when Satan is constantly getting in your head, shouting at you, screaming at the top of his lungs to get you away from God!
Eli/Conductor: You just have to keep reminding yourself that Satan has no power over you! He has no power over anyone!
Jerald H/KJ: *sighs* You’re right.
Eli/Conductor: *walks over to Jerald H and pats him on the back*
Jerald H/KJ: It feels good to have gotten all of that off my chest though, I have to admit.
Eli/Conductor: That’s the spirit.
Jerald H/KJ: The Spirit of the Lord working in us.
Both: *chuckle*
Death Chord: *walks into the green room and sits down in a chair, then pulls out a picture of a preteen boy* I promised you, brother. I’m going to fulfill that promise. If only you were here to see. *gets teary-eyed*
(Alone starts playing)
Death Chord: This strange feeling inside me, holds me down, it’s all I feel. Those around don't understand. I'll show them, how well first hand. This emptiness inside. This lone darkness in me. I may fall, on my own, I stand all, alone. They will notice one day. They'll see their broken ways. I'll show all, on my own, I stand all, alone. I see myself stuck in, the emptiness I call, my own. This is my own worst pain, and no one cares at all, they go. I just want to break this, I just want to make this, go. This emptiness inside. This lone darkness in me. I may fall, on my own, I stand all, alone. They will notice one day. They'll see their broken ways. I'll show all, on my own, I stand all, alone. If they refuse to care, then I'll make them see how, myself. I'll change their eyes from stares, to feel what I have shown, by force. They will learn to break too, they will then feel ache too. This emptiness inside. This lone darkness in me. I may fall, on my own, I stand all, alone. They will notice one day. They'll see their broken ways. I'll show all, on my own, I stand all, alone. All alone, ah. All alone, ah! All alone!
(Alone stops playing)
Death Chord: Till next time, brother.
Oliver: You know that I really like you, right?
Mary/BB: Of course I do! And I really like you too!
Oliver: That’s what I wanna hear.
Mary/BB: I’m glad I met you, Oliver Hart.
Oliver: I’m glad I met you, Mary Ferill.
Mary/BB: *leans closer to Oliver*
Jerald H/KJ: *walks into Oliver’s room* So this is how you repay our friendship?
Mary/BB: Jerald!
Oliver: Dude, what the heck, man?!
Jerald H/KJ: I told you to stay away from her!
Oliver: And guess who she chose between the two of us? Me.
Jerald H/KJ: *punches Oliver in the face*
Oliver: *falls backwards and grabs his jaw*
Mary/BB: Jerald, what has gotten into you?!
Jerald H/KJ: I could ask you the same thing, Mary! Why are you doing this?! You won’t even tell me why you’re upset with me and why you wanna be with this narcissist!
Mary/BB: Jerald, I…
Jerald H/KJ: We’ll talk about this later! And you! *points at Oliver* This isn’t over! *walks away*
Craig, Jerald P, and Charlotte: *run into Jerald H*
Jerald H/KJ: You guys haven’t really separated since you met. What’s up?
Craig: We’ve been brainstorming and we all agree with Apirl that the person with the alter ego of Death Chord is none other than Emilia Vyk.
Jerald P: The only thing she likes in musical theater is the suspense and the climax, she doesn’t like anything else unless it’s thrilling or action packed.
Charlotte: But we still haven’t quite figured out why she likes playing the organ if she doesn’t really like musicals.
Jerald H/KJ: Well, it would be pretty suspicious if I went to talk to her, but we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
Craig: What if nothing happens?
Jerald P: Or something happens and we don’t know about it?
Dylan: *walks up to Jerald H and his friends* I’m pretty sure nothing will happen that we don’t know about.
Charlotte: How?
Jerald H/KJ: We’re all gonna split up and cover more ground.
Craig: Who all will be in on this?
Jerald H/KJ: All of us, plus Emilia, Eli, Leonard, and April.
Dylan: Who’ll be going with who?
Jerald H/KJ: Craig, you, Jerald P, and Charlotte can all go together. Eli, Dylan, and I will be in a group, and lastly, Leonard, Emilia, and April will be in a group.
Jerald P: Sounds like a plan!
Jerald H/KJ: And I’ve already talked with Mr. Myers about it and he was fine with us doing this.
Craig: Now that that’s dealt with, we need to get ready to perform another song.
Dylan: Why?
Jerald P: Edward Penlora will be here again. He wants to see us perform another song. One that actually has lyrics.
Jerald H/KJ: Lovely. Well, let’s go.
Edward: Well, Mr. Myers, I’m certainly hoping that your students will be able to perform something decent this time around.
Mr. Myers: Oh, they will, Edward. They will indeed!
Edward: Where’s that scrawny boy?
Mr. Myers: Leonard? He’s rounding up the students and trying to get them in here to perform.
Edward: Good luck with that.
Leonard: *backstage with performing students* Alright, gang, go out there and give it your all!
Students: *backstage* *walk out on stage to their instruments*
Students: *off stage* *take a seat as well as Leonard, Mr. Myers, and Edward*
Mary/BB: *walks downstage to start singing*
(Up We Go by LIGHTS starts playing)
Mary/BB: Here in a familiar place, we got our heads down and we pretend it's ‘cause the night is dark and running out of space for us to run around. But it's a dead end, and money's tight and it's been a long time of this. Something's got to give. Everyone here is ready to go. It's been a hard year with nothing to show from down this road, it's only on we go, on we go. Everyone here is ready to go. It's been a hard year, and I only know from down this low, it's only up we go, up we go. Let's get on another flight, maybe set out to sea. Kick it up and shake a fist at it ‘cause death is harder to come by than it is to breathe. When you gotta make a break for it 'cause it's been a long time of this. Something's got to give. Everyone here is ready to go. It's been a hard year with nothing to show from down this road, it's only on we go, on we go. Everyone here is ready to go. It's been a hard year, and I only know from down this low, it's only up we go, up we go. Nothing gives easy. Easy gives nothing. I'm just tryin' a keep income coming in. Dawn is bound to break when the night is done. Always darker days before brighter ones. Everyone here is ready to go. It's been a hard year with nothing to show from down this road, it's only on we go, on we go. Everyone here is ready to go. It's been a hard year, and I only know from down this low, it's only up we go, up we go!
(Up We Go by LIGHTS stops playing)
Everyone: *off stage applauds and cheers*
Mr. Myers: Marvelous job, students!
Edward: Oh, teens these days with their pop and their electronic tunes!
Mr. Myers: Give them a break, Edward. Not everyone has to have the same taste in music and theater as you do.
Edward: No, but if you can’t even perform the genre you like, you shouldn’t perform at all!
Mr. Myers: Oh, goodness gracious, Edward! The students aren’t here to be criticized! They’re here to have fun!
Edward: How can you expect to put on a show by just having fun? There’s more to it than that! You have the props, the rehearsals, the choreography, and so much more!
Mr. Myers: If you think that this show isn’t going to turn out very well, then you can try and help out and make it better!
Edward: That is exactly what I am going to do!
Leonard: I think the students did amazing, Mr. Myers.
Mr. Myers: Thank you, Leonard. Students, you are all dismissed!
Leonard: Mr. Myers, I’m starting to worry more about Edward.
Mr. Myers: I’m feeling the same way.
