Forces
The sky that night was overcast, and the air was cold, blowing violently through the trees. With every step Jacob took, he could sense something dark lurking in the shadows of the forest. The whispers he had heard during his training were becoming clearer, but this time, the whispers were filled with fear and warning. He felt in his heart that something was coming, something more than just strangers entering the forest's confines.
"The road ahead is long," Zara said firmly, walking beside him, her eyes alert. "But we must be prepared for anything. These are not just ordinary warriors. Anyone who tries to approach the stone knows something about its power, and that is what makes them dangerous."
At the same time, Liara was leading a group of women to another side of the forest, where they suspected the attack would come from. A brave and calm warrior was her trademark, but her eyes were filled with worry, something that rarely appeared on her face. She knew that the threat wasn't just individuals, but dark forces trying to harness the power of the stone.
"Do you think they're sending an army?" Jacob asked in a low voice.
"No, this isn't an army," Zara replied in a low voice, keeping her guard up. "These aren't just humans. We're dealing with something older and more dangerous."
As they continued to walk through the forest, Jacob began to feel something strange in the air, like an invisible weight. The trees seemed to grow denser, as if trying to block out the view, and the wind grew quieter, as if the forest itself was afraid.
Then suddenly, the whispers he had been hearing at first disappeared, replaced by a dead silence. This silence was more terrifying than any sound he had ever heard. He felt his heart pounding, but he tried to remain calm, remembering his training with Liara and Zara.
They reached a remote area of the forest, where the ancient trees seemed to bear witness to a long history of secrets. Here, the greatest effort would begin. Everyone stood on the edge of a large circle of stones, the surroundings covered in a mixture of thick fog and dim rays that scattered the light.
"The enemy is here. Get ready." Zara whispered, giving faint signals to the warriors to move.
As everyone was on alert, Jacob saw something in the shadows. There was a strange shape moving among the trees, moving slowly, as if watching them closely. The shadow was low, perhaps human, but something about it seemed unnatural.
"They're here..." Jacob whispered, his pupils narrowing as he tried to see more clearly.
With those words, the trees suddenly moved, as if to open the way for something or someone. A dark figure emerged from the fog, wearing a black cloak wrapped around his body. His features were blurred, but he was very tall, as if his every movement was imbued with hatred. With every step he took, the ground cracked beneath his feet, as if it was in pain from his presence.
"Who are you?" Jacob asked, his voice trembling at first, but he quickly gathered his courage.
"I am the one who seeks the power that humans do not understand," the response came in a rough voice, as if the words themselves were coming from the dark depths. "I have come to take the stone."
Jacob took a step back, as Zara whispered to her people to prepare for battle. "It seems that it is not just a person, but a being... an ancient dark thing."
The dark being smiled a terrifying smile, as if it were a smile of victory. "You are a guardian? Do you think that the mere power of the stone will stop me?"
Without waiting for an answer, he reached forward, and suddenly, the ground around them shook. Jacob felt something invisible pressing against his chest, as if a tremendous force had exploded in the air, but it was directed towards them.
"Use your power, Jacob!" Liara shouted, rushing forward towards the dark being, ahead of the entire group.
Jacob felt the power that the stone had given him flow through his body, but it was not what he expected. He couldn't control the power completely. It was drawing energy from him, as if it was tightening its grip on his heart.
"Nature... speaks to you, use it!" Zara said in a decisive voice.
At that moment, Jacob felt something unusual. The ground beneath his feet, the trees around him, the air itself, were as if they were part of him. He was no longer just a guardian of the forest; he had become one with everything around him. He raised his hands toward the sky, and from the depths of the forest he had never known before, he drew a power he had never known before.
Suddenly, the forces of darkness were retreating, as if they were being crushed by the power of the spirit that was flowing into Jacob's body. But the dark being did not give up. "You don't understand yet," he whispered defiantly, "You cannot defeat me."
Despite the being's retreat, the battle had only just begun. Jacob was fully aware that the confrontation he was facing was more than just a physical battle; it was a battle between ancient forces, fighting for control of the stone, and what it symbolized.
However, he had one hope: if he could communicate with the forces of the forest, and join them with his spirit, perhaps he could defeat the darkness, and save the place that had become his home.
