“Welcome to the stage, Princess Madison!”
Madison stumbled out from behind the curtain. Lights blinded her, shining from above. The man who had just introduced her ushered her forward.“Henry?” She asked peering around. She hated how her voice sounded, small and weak, but she couldn’t help it. The bright lights brought her back to being strapped on a cold metal table while someone cut into her with rusty knives.
“There’s no Henry here darling.” The man smiled. “You’ll get back to him soon enough, right now you just need to show these lovely people your talent.” Madison peered past the lights and saw a crowd of people gazing curiously up at her.
“My talent?”
”Yeah,” the man replied, “show them your powers sweetie.” Madison looked up into his face. “You’ll see Henry after this I promise.” Madison nodded and with new found confidence, walked into the center of the stage.
“I was told to show you my talent,” she cleared her throat nervously, “so here it is.” She took a deep breath and a pair of golden wings unfurled from her back. She looked over at the man.
“Just have fun.” He encouraged.
Her face, scrunched in determination, she spread her wings and rose into the sky. She hovered there, flapping her wings to stay afloat and spread her hands. Balls of fire erupted in her palms. Her eyes flowed a bright gold and she swooped low over the crowd. She spiraled back around shooting two fireballs at the lights above the stage. They exploded. Sparks flew, the crowd covered their heads.
Madison landed on the stage, obscured by smoke and fire. As the smoke cleared Madison walked to the edge of the stage, wings spread, eyes glowing, and awaited the crowds response.
