Jason Voorhees was born.
Pamela Sue Voorhees, sixteen, had been married for a year to camper, Elias Voorhees, who was the same age as her. Elias had been a cold boy growing up. He became distance since his parents, Edward and Tracey Voorhees, were too busy to parent their son.
Camp Crystal Lake was an escape for them both.
Marriage came with commitments for life.
But Elias was a drifter, and went from town to town.
Pamela also had psychological problems.
And, for a decade, nothing happened.

Pamela saw Steve Christy.
'You can be a volunteer cook', he said.
'Thanks, Steve', Pamela said.
As Camp Crystal Lake became popular, Pamela was more distant.
In the middle of the dark woods, was a shack.
'This is our home, Jason', she said.
The silent boy nodded.
He didn't smile.

Jason Voorhees, now eleven, thrashed in the cold lake.
Barry and Claudette, now seventeen, were making out in the barn. They were in charge of taking care of him; they failed to do their jobs. 'Jason! Jason!', Pamela yelled.
She dragged him from the lake with her hands, performed CPR, and vowed to get revenge on the camp counsellors.
