A few days passed after Emerald's death. Bruce visited the Rivera Household to see how they were doing. Mrs Rivera invited Bruce over to Emerald's room to go through her stuff. Bruce walked up to her fireplace first. He picked up a picture of Emerald and some other girl and sat on her bed. Connor, Emerald's brother, came in to see how he was doing. Bruce looked up from the picture 'Hey Connor. Who's this?' He pointed to the girl standing next to Emerald. 'Oh... That's our cousin... Alex... She tried to kill Em multiple times'
'What? How?!'
'First, she added poison into Em's orange juice. Second, she let her play with knives. Third, She let out her pet cobra in front of Em.'

Jade and Crystal had completely changed. They discarded the Green Diamond by putting it into a box and keeping it in Jade's overfilled attic. They even started to quarrel more. 'IT WAS BECAUSE OF YOU THAT SHE DIED!' Crystal shrieked. Jade burst into tears and ran out of the room. Crystal's parents had bought a new house at the edge of North Greatlin. It was the house of protectors. As Jade ran out of the meeting room, she bumped into Pedro. He didn't even help her up. It was as if she was a ghost. He ignored her and went into his room, which was at the end of the hallway. Jade went to her parent's house. It was the only place she could go. She went into her attic and bought out the box. 'So this diamond has magical properties, huh?' She whispered to herself. She brushed some dust off of it. Doing so, a line was revealed. "After the Great Protector's demise, The one who she most despised, will inherit the protector's abilities, Only if he or she doesn't hold hostility, Congratulations o brave one, you are more powerful than the sun." Jade quietly chanted those lines and began to glow. She closed her eyes. When she opened them, she was standing in between Emerald and Victor. 'EM!' She cried. She tried to grab her, but it was like trying to catch air. Jade looked at her hands. They were translucent. Jade cried out in horror. 'Victor... When I die, I know I will, please give my powers to Jade' Emerald pleaded. Victor nodded and vanished. The scene changed. Jade saw Victor in her attic, carving something on the Diamond. And then, POOF! Jade was back in her attic, clinging onto the Diamond. Jade... was the new Great Protector
