TW:BRIEF METIONS OF VIOLENCE AND MURDER
“Hi” I called out as I saw him arrive. He smiled as he climbed into his seat. His skin yellow and the scent of cinnamon wafting from him. I see 2 short swords on his sides and a longbow on his back. His unkempt hair falling just above the eyes.
“Hi” he smiled back.
“What’s your name?”
“I’m Mellby Woodcutter”
“Woodcutter? That’s an interesting name, where does it come from?”
“My family comes from a long line of lumber jacks.”
“Nice to know” I answer, I turn to the camera crew.
“Let’s get this show on the road” I call out.
I turn back to Mellby as they start counting down
“Hello everyone, I’m joined here by the 3-foot legend Mellby Woodcutter.” pre-recorded applause fills up the room.
“So Mellby tell me about yourself.”
“Hi, I’m Mellby; I like to help people, that’s, what I do.” Mellby stuttered
“And what pushed you to help people?”
“Emmm well my da disappeared when I was 5, but he was a bit abusive so I didn’t really mind. About 10 years later my mom and step da get married, and he was nice. So, when he disappeared I cared a lot more, I grabbed a bow and tracked him down, turns out a reflection took them both, I managed to kill it, and that gave me all this.” He said waving his arms over his yellow skin.
“So that’s not your normal skin colour?” I ask
“No, halflings aren’t normally yellow” he says with a smile.
“So Mellby, what adventure have you gotten up too while helping people?”
“Ok umm well, I haven’t really gone on many adventures, but I guess I can tell you the most adventurous thing I did was probably the time I killed a compound of hobgoblins. My friend Celia wanted some creature called “a Worg” we, me Ceila and Alex, went off to find it and we met some goblins. They said they would trade it to us if we killed the hobgoblins ‘cause they were kidnapping and harassing the village. We made a plan to attack them and then we attacked. Me and Alex cut down their numbers while Celia attacked the boss, after some time the boss managed to knock Alex out it was me and Celia against 3 hobgoblins. And that’s all I remember before Apogee took over”
“Who’s Apogee?” I asked
“They are my alter ego, the conscious fairy magic in me. It only comes out when I’m angry”
“Can we meet them?”
“I don’t think that’s a good idea, they’re very violent.”
“Please Mellby, for the audience?”
Mellby looks around before sighing

“Hello there”
“Hi, I’m guessing your Apogee?”
“And I’m guessing you’re the person I’m going to kill?”
“What N-” at that Apogee rushed towards me and threw me up in the air. I landed painfully on my side and watched with horror as Apogee destroyed the set throwing more people around, but thankfully keeping their short swords sheeted. A minute or so later the horns shrunk back into Mellby. He looked around at the destruction and shook his head sadly before muttering
“I told you”
With that Mellby walked away.
