(warning for death and swearing and just war in general)
They were trapped. In there own minds. The room was small, gray, and empty besides the thoughts of the terrified. The projections of there minds paced in the dark room.121Please respect copyright.PENANAgFUJAIRAIo
"We're bound to die here." A soldier said. He had his uniform on, but a hole was scarlet red with blood that dripped down his leg. It didn't seem to bother him. It was as if the pain only existed in the real world. 121Please respect copyright.PENANAfvSRGiCFG7
"In our own minds." He continued. "If the dragon finds us out there, unconscious..." He couldn't even finish the sentence. Jett sighed. She was the princess, yet what could she do? These men had family, jobs, friends. Everything she had. They weren't soldier 1 and soldier 57,364, but actual people. Yet, she didn't even know their names. "This was foolish..." She whispered to herself, but they all heard. She shouldn't have fought. She wasn't ready for what they had. She wasn't ready for the curse. She wasn't ready to be a commoner, and to struggle in her life. What hope was there, being trapped in their minds?
"Atleast we're under the covers. It's less likely we'll be found there, and otherwise our curse will fade in a few hours."
Suddenly, a man screamed in pain, filling the small room. His body started to rip to shreds, and it turned into dust. He was dead. The scream ended, and the room fell silent. "Jason..." So he has a name. Jett thought. "If they've got Jason, then they'll follow the trail and find all of us soon."
Yet, something had changed. A figure with a black cloak covering his body had emerged in the room. A few whispers were spoken. The figure turned his body and looked around.
"You're not getting out of here by wishing it." The figure's voice sounded like nails on a chalk board. Yet it spoke firmly. "It must be the soulless gem we all are wearing. It's coming to help us." A soldier shouted. Jett couldn't tell from where. 121Please respect copyright.PENANAhs3ZIopTjR
All of a sudden, Jett felt pain course through her body. She fell down to her knees. Agony coursed through her veins. She felt her stomach lurching but there was nothing to throw up. Her hands clamped together, and she had trouble breathing. Did the dragon get to us?
Yet it wasn't the dragon. It was the figure. All around her, Jett could see the soldiers in pain as well. He was doing something.
"You dogs, you sons of bitches." Jett grimaced. Her parents, King and Queen, were both nothing but SOBs? But the pain made her fall onto her back, tears barely managing out of her sore eyes. "You're worth nothing. Your death will mean nothing. It doesn't matter what you regret or what you want, as long as you feel that pain. Don't you sense it? The empty air. The nothingness that is like a well within your souls. The fear of the truth. It keeps you here, in this hellhole. Do you want to die as cowards, or live as men? It's your duty to die fighting." The figure laughed. "Your last breath hasn't been spent. Defend the castle. Your day is not yet over. The journey won't end here. Death is at your door. Will you let it enter, or will you choose to ignore it? The choice is yours."
The room went quiet. Jett looked away. When she looked back, the figure was gone. But a soldier's eyes turned white, and he was standing up. The pain seemed to have dissappeared from him. "I'll defend the castle with my life, whenever it ends..." A soldier got up and whispered to himself, and then his eyes too turned white. Then others got up, mumbling to themselves about a future. They desperately clinged onto the belief that it was still there, and not yet turned into ash by fury and flame. 121Please respect copyright.PENANAFy9vNpvIdt
"No curse is unbreakable..."
"The future is near..."
"Cowards die, heroes die trying..."
"The walls are made of lies..."
"We'll be seeing each other soon..."
Suddenly, most of the soldiers were standing, their eyes white and peaceful. Jett still laid on the floor, her body aching. "You've went this far. Why do you stop now?" She told herself, but it still was painful to speak. She pressed onto the floor. "The pain means nothing. Pain is only a nuisance. You have nothing to lose by ignoring it." She was on her knees now. They shook heavily. The pain was disappearing. As she got up, she heard the figure's voice cackle. "When the bell finally rings, we'll meet again." His final words were.
Jett smiled, the pain seeping out of her body. "Not today." Then, the world turned white, and she could see the truth. Her fight wasn't just her enemy, but also in her head.
