The Universe Academy was a place where all of the planets, astroids, stars and moons gathered. The students were to study to be the replacements of the older counterparts solar system. Some students aimed high, while others... not so much.
Cynthia did neither, she wanted to become a moon. It was not an ambitious role, like a planet or star. Nor was it an easy A, like an astroid or satellite. The problem was that a planet had to choose her, Saturn has at least 62 moons so if anything she would taken in by her. Granted only nine positions were left.
That day was graduation, as always a single white rose was placed on her desk. Ah, the secret admirer. She knew they had to be rich, a flower from earth was worth a lot of gold. It felt nice, but to be frank she was scared of who it might be.
There was only one person she truly loved, and they were just a person who she took classes with. He was a big shot too, a planet that many had high hopes for. Ambrosi, an average looking boy, but his smile was brighter than any star. He was nothing, but kind to her and he was aways full of life.
Cynthia admired him for that. As a shy girl, she didn't open up to a lot of people. Her expression in the form of art and writing instead instead.
That day was the last day. The day that decided, whether she would be an astroid or a moon. The day someone would either pick her or her dreams will be thrown out the window forever. The day was breezy as Cynthia wore her best dress.
If I don't get what I want I might as well go out in style, Was her train of thought. The out door graduation really messed up the hair she perfectly styled hair with it's strong winds. Now it's a mess.
Ambrosi stood on the stage about to pick his moon and Cynthia's heart seemed to ache. Honestly, there's only one moon for Earth to pick. How would she possibly make the cut. Lost in her thoughts, she didn't hear would he picked.
"If you don't want to come up here and take the spot, I guess I can understand. It's not like we really know each other..." The boy said somewhat dejected. Everyone seemed to be looking at Cynthia and suddenly it clicked.
The girl pointed a light grey finger at herself with a questioning gaze at the new Earth. He seemed to laugh a bit and guested her to come. The new moon sprung up maybe a little too quickly, and tripped over a chair. Thankfully a friend of hers caught her before she could make another crater in her body.
As soon as she got onto the stage Cynthia embraced Ambrosi. The two of them blushed a faint blue. She laughed to herself.
"That secret admirer would pretty upset about this." Cynthia mused as Ambrosi held her close.
"I assure you he's the happiest guy, for he has his one and only." He gave her a quick peck as a few people in the audience whistled. Remembering that they were still on stage they made their way off and to a place they can alone.
In the journey Cynthia realized that Ambrosi meant rose. Roses were hard to come by unless you were an earth native. Ah, he was her secret admirer.
Once they had made it into the art room, she ran hands through his hair. And hugged him close, giving him a quick kiss.
"Like a satellite I'll orbit my way around you. I love you Ambrosi." Cynthia snuggled into his chest. Somehow without seeing his face she could tell he smiled.
"Quoting song lyrics are we?" She giggled quietly at Earth's comment.
"Maybe."
"You know, Earth only has one moon. I'll stay loyal to you, and you'll be my everything. I'll never leave, because we're each other's one and only." They sat together holding hands in a comfortable. After laughing at Ambrosi's cheesy lines.
The Earth and Moon were together forever as Ambrosi kept his promise and Cynthia only saw Ambrosi for he was her world.
