05.09.2015 - Black Out Days by Phantogram
So I walk into my English Class today, on the first day of school, and my teacher, Mrs. Crouse, has us sit down wherever we want. None of my friends are in my class, so I sit alone, which sucks. But then our teacher leaves the room. Which is a huge shocker, and then comes back five minutes later, with James Blake calling, "She's coming!" and everyone puts away their phones and wraps up their headphones.
She had with her one of the those trolley things, that the janitor uses to carry big things around. On it she had three cardboard boxes, and she picks them up, but can't and Wells Mulick jumps up to help her. He plays rugby on the school team and is really strong. He picks them up with ease, and asks her where to set them down.
"Just there, on the floor," and Wells sets all three boxes down, in the front of the class, three mysterious boxes. And then she opens them. I had the lucky seat in the front of the class, so I could see what was in them, but people in the back were not as lucky. They were journals. Probably about 50, maybe more. In one box there were newer journals, simple and colorful, bound with faux leather or fabric. There were all 3-5 centimeters wide, and pretty enough, but the next two boxes had much more beautiful ones. The next box had leather bound ones, about the same size, though a few were much larger. Some of them were embossed, or had a tie. The last box had very old journals. These were bound with thick buckled straps, she had jewels and precious stones imbedded in them. And Mrs. Crouse says, "If you have a place that you like to write, you'll be more inclined to do so."
She then says we all get to pick one, as a personal journal. She brought us up in groups of four or five, the size of each table, and my table was called third, so Eloisa, Zach, and I got to pick ones. Most of the newer more modern journals had been taken by the popular kids, but a few took beautiful leather bound ones. I immediately went to the third box, and flipped through a few, and then saw the one you're reading out of.
Dark leather, with thick straps, an embossed spine, but underneath the buckles was an intertwining celtic knot embossed, and it was all surrounding a few of the fae from ancient celtic mythology. The straps each had a small green stone, the color of an emerald embedded, and it was probably the largest in number of pages, but smaller in size.
Then out teacher explained the journals, we were to write whatever we want, it can be private, no one will ever read it, including her, age would just check that you write something every week. And every Monday we would have a word of the day period, so our writing could be prep for that. So my two words for next Monday are laudable, and tawdry. They are both adjectives. Laudable mean to be worthy of praise. And Tawdry, meaning showy, but lacking quality, like gaudy.
I don't know what much else to write, today was boring. Second day of classes, and everything is pretty easy.
