One of the many things I’ve learned about maintaining your mental health is find a healthy environment. I cannot tell you how much simply changing schools impacted my mental health and social life. Helping me overcome physical problems with being underweight, emotional problems like depression, and gave me people to talk to and trust who care about what I have to say and love me for who I am, helping me love myself, as well. 177Please respect copyright.PENANABIBCds0hd5
Before this, I went to a school with a terrible environment, The problem with this school is that is was super small and most of everyone was friends, but if they didn’t like you, you were cast out from the others and were bullied in several different ways. Some just did it silently, shooting you rude glances or ignoring you, while some said hurtful things that made you less confident in yourself. 177Please respect copyright.PENANAdYduBX7w3y
Me, for instance, was in a small group of 7 girls whom were treated this way, and these friends (who i thought were amazing at the time) apparently were not helping at all. Drama throughout my friend group became common, to where my friend group was split up into 3 smaller groups. I basically was the glue in the middle, the only thing holding our friendship together. That just put more stress on me, having to solve their drama, clarifying things that were not true, and trying my hardest to get them not to create even more drama. 177Please respect copyright.PENANAgC6Wqa0wf7
My mother noticed how I was feeling and acting, and put me through a process of three steps: First if all, get a therapist or someone to talk to, someone who can help you sort through everything your going through. For example, i needed help controlling my anger. Second, see if you can get on any medication to help with your anxiety or depression or whatever mental illness is challenging you. Third, make sure your in a healthy environment. Ask yourself whether the environment your in is building you up or breaking you down. 177Please respect copyright.PENANAjj7cotu31B
One more tip that I have learned myself overtime: love yourself. I know that can be hard, overcoming insecurities and trying to tell yourself what other people say isn’t true, but the more you do it, the easier it becomes. Being confident in yourself is a crucial step to living your best life. 177Please respect copyright.PENANAtuPJoxtW1y
