I can't help but wonder, why did she look so distraught when she looked into her purse. Could it be that she saw something horrible on her phone, like a miss call from her parents? Or it could be that time of the month. Oh god, I think I'm overthinking this way too much.
"Okay, I'm back," Zoe said as she approached me. She looked much better now.
"Everything alright?" I inquired.
"Yeah, everything's fine." She didn't sound convinced though.
I looked forward, to where the trail led. It was leading into the park's forest. I love forests, they are so calming, so peaceful. "Shall we continue?" I asked, gesturing forwards into the forest. She nodded and we continued walking along the trail.
"So," I broke the silence, "What are you into?" She thought about it for a while. Either she is into a lot of different things and has trouble picking something, or maybe she was debating on whether she should tell me her interests or not.
"I," she began, still looking unsure, "really like animals. And humans. And how they function. Anatomy basically."
"That sounds interesting."
"It really is. What about you?"
"Well," I really don't know what to say. I am into a lot of things, such as movies, reading, painting. "My most interesting interest is probably shooting."
"Excuse me?"
"Like, on a shooting range. Shooting at targets or flying plates. My aim is pretty good!"
"That is rather interesting. But I'm assuming that, unlike my interest, yours doesn't translate well into school."
"No, it doesn't. My favourite subject is actually Math."
"Nerd." She smirked. I honestly don't see what's so funny. Math is fun!
"And what's your favourite subject at school? I'm assuming it's bio."
"Yeah, I'm really into biology," she said with excitement, clearly showing interest, "especially dissection."
"Why is that?"
"As I said, I'm really into anatomy."
"Ah, right."
Throughout our conversation, she kept looking around all over the place, as if she was looking out for something. Or someone. This was freaking me out.
"Also, I'm really into blood."
Alright, that's kind of creepy. I stopped walking, as it took me off guard, but maybe it is not as bad as I think. I tried to play it off cool so I shrugged and smiled; however, in the back of my mind, I started contemplating things.
"Understandable," I finally said.
"You're not disturbed by that?"
"Well," how do I explain this to her? Being into blood isn't exactly a normal thing and I definitely am disturbed to an extent. And I can't lie because I'm an honest guy. "I am slightly if I'm being completely honest."
"Oh. Everyone is. I honestly don't know why."
"Umm," I started speaking but stopped immediately. After all, I don't want her to feel bad about herself or her interests. Plus, I am into certain things that some might consider weird as well.
"Uhh, what type of films do you like."
"Mostly films with murder in it" she replied in an unsettling tone. "Murder mysteries, horrors, that kind of stuff. What about you?" The sun was starting to set. I think this can be an excuse for me to leave soon because I'm getting rather unsettled by her company.
"I love action movies," I replied in the most enthusiastic tone I could master. "It's getting dark, shall we turn around and walk back?"
"Nah, let's walk a bit more."
"You want to walk down the dark and terrifying path in a forest, alone?" I said with a mysterious tone to try and spook her
She instantly replied to that question as if it was unspontaneous. "Yep. Well, not exactly alone am I? I have your company." And so we walked for about an hour more. The forest is beautiful with a variety of trees and other plants. The pathway across the forest is quite long. So long, in fact, it goes beyond the bounds of the park and into the actual forest. There, we did not have the luxuries of warm lighting from the lamp posts or a kept-up trail. However, we did come across some wild raspberries and blueberries which we happily nibbled on.
The sun was already hidden behind the trees and the trees made it even darker. "It's getting quite late, I have to head home." I tried my best to look confident; however, I think I still appeared very nervous.247Please respect copyright.PENANAHNqLHM3nCp
