There is always a cycle.
Kagome hummed, her blue eyes sparkling as she got dressed for the day. She wore a black fighting style kimono decorated with blue, white, and red fire designs that seemed to lick up the sides. The kimono stopped mid-thigh and had slits that went from thigh to hip, making her tight black shorts –that stopped just under the front of her kimono- necessary. On her left leg her ninja tool pack had to be attached –it was mandatory for any ninja- and she had gauze wrapped from the bottom of her knees to just above her ankle. She also added gauze from the bottom of her elbows to just above her wrists.
Kagome sighed, ‘Why can’t I just get ready in half a minute.’ Unfortunately, getting dressed took up the majority of her morning; meaning she couldn’t eat breakfast with her new roommate, Naruto.
It was devastation.
I call it the Cycle of Life
Kagome sighed, “Today’s my first day at the academy.” Insecurities were arising and she idly wondered about how she was supposed to make friends… she’d always been shy around people she didn’t know. “I don’t even know how other people my age expect me to act.” She mumbled, pouting slightly. Her ears perked up when she realized what time it was.
Taking out her customary black ribbon, she tied her ebony hair up in a high ponytail as she hurried out of her room, some of her bangs dropping to frame the left side of her face as she did so. But that didn’t matter, it always happened.
Kagome squealed as she skid across the floor to the front door, she slipped into her black sandals and yelled at Naruto to come walk with her.
We’re born
Kagome smiled slightly as he came out of the kitchen just finishing his ramen breakfast, he set the bowl on the floor and slid into his own blue sandals. “Ready Kagome-chan!”
Kagome winced as she looked at the bowl on the floor, she’d clean that up when they got home. They’d only lived together for a week so it was only to be expected that they’d have to work out their differences of housekeeping. “Just call me Kagome.”
“Cool!”
We make mistakes
Kagome’s anxiety came back full force when she approached the door of the Academy.
She jumped when a hand was placed roughly on her shoulder, “Don’t worry Kagome, I’ll show you around.” Naruto stated enthusiastically, happy to have the responsibility placed on his shoulders.
Kagome smiled at him halfheartedly, he obviously wasn’t aware that she wasn’t scared of the large building, but the people inside of it. “Thanks Naruto.”
He snickered, “Of course! I’m gonna be Hokage someday and if I can’t even take care of my roommate how will I keep the village under control?!” He opened the door a bit TOO enthusiastically and it clunked against the call behind it. Grabbing her hand, he started running down the hall “COME ON KAGOME! WE DON’T WANT TO BE LAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!”
It became a race –that Kagome won- and before long, they stood outside the classroom door panting
…The running hadn’t helped.
They were late.
We hurt someone we care deeply for, someone we never meant to hurt
Now having caught their breath, they turned to grin at each other.
“Let’s make a big entrance.” Naruto said eagerly and his blue eyes twinkled.
Kagome wanted to snort, those big blue eyes, the bright yellow hair, and a blue and orange jumpsuit… He’d make a big entrance if he just randomly walked in WITHOUT doing something crazy.
However before he could jump in, the door opened and a man came out, looking angry.
He had brown hair in a ponytail, a scar across his nose, and dark eyes.
Kagome pushed that thought aside to look at his outfit. A Konoha uniform. Army green vest, navy blue shirt underneath and the same color cargo pants. Complete with Konoha’s symbol on both the shirt and vest.
We just wanted to help
“Naruto! Class started an hour ago!” He said with narrowed eyes.
Naruto laughed nervously, “Sorry Iruka-sensei! I…Um… The new girl…”
“Eh?” Iruka turned his attention to Kagome, whom blinked up at him.
“I’m Kagome Nagata.” She bowed, “Gomen-nasai sensei. I didn’t know when class was to start.”
Iruka’s eyes softened as he noticed that she stood halfway behind Naruto. He hadn’t imagined that The Kagome Nagata would be so small... “Ahhh. That’s fine Kagome-san. However, Naruto doesn’t have the same excuse. He knows exactly when class is supposed to start.”
Kagome frowned, Naruto had purposely gotten them late? “Just Kagome.”
Iruka nodded slightly, “I’m Iruka Umino. I’ll be your instructor while you’re studying here.”
Naruto began to edge into the classroom.
So we cry for our someone, We beg their forgiveness
“I’ll let you off with a warning this time Naruto.” Iruka shot him a glare. “But I expect you BOTH here at 8 tomorrow.”
“Yes, sir!” Naruto replied and he took off into the classroom.
Iruka took Kagome’s hand, ignoring the way she flinched back when he first reached, but not forgetting it. Instead he stored the information away while he took her into the classroom.
Kagome shifted nervously when all eyes turned to her. There were at least thirty students! Naruto waved with a cheeky grin from his seat and she felt a little better.
Standing at the front of the room Iruka put an arm around her and used the other to gesture to her. “Everyone this is our new student, Kagome Nagata.” He smiled at her, “Do you have anything you’d like to say, Kagome?”
We plead our case based on our good intentions
Kagome took a step forward and bowed, “P-Please treat me kindly!”
Iruka sent her an encouraging smile. “Now where should we have you sit…” He ignored Naruto’s hand rising in the air, knowing the boy would talk nonstop if he put her there. “…Alright. You’ll sit next to Sasuke Uchiha. Sasuke please raise your hand.”
Kagome watched curiously when a small boy with black hair and onyx eyes raised his hand. She walked to where he sat in the top row and tried to ignore the jealous stares the other girls were giving her.
What was their problem?
Sitting down swiftly, she kept her eyes on the floor.
But the road to the underworld is paved by good intentions
“Hey…”
Her eyes fluttered up to meet the Uchiha’s. “???”
“I’m Sasuke. It’s really nice to meet you!” He said cheerfully, holding out a hand for her to take.
She smiled back at him faintly, “Kagome. T-Thanks. It’s a pleasure.”
He found himself slightly puzzled by her reaction, but took it in stride none the less. “H-”
“Sasuke! Kagome! I understand that you’d like to get to know each other, but please save it for after class.” Iruka interrupted, and both students looked up at him in shock. Some students snickered behind their hands.
“Sorry Iruka-sensei!” Kagome replied impishly, keeping her eyes on her fingers.
“Ahhhh I’m sorry too!” Sasuke’s sheepish response had a few girls swooning as he rubbed the bad of his head with a smile. “It’s just that I thought it would be nice to have a friend sitting next to me like the rest of the class!”
Iruka’s eyes softened. He’d purposely singled Sasuke out to sit alone in the back row, with a wall on one side and the other side empty.
But he’d only done that because most of the boys in the class were jealous of Sasuke, and the girls were obsessed.
It seemed like the better alternative to just have him sit alone.
And that leads to the final destination of the cycle
“You can spend time with Kagome AFTER class.”
What he didn’t know, was that a certain blond haired fox wasn’t exactly prone to the idea.
The lunch bell rung and Sasuke jumped up, grabbing his new seat neighbor by the arm hyperly. “Come on Kagome-san!
Kagome’s eyes lit up, perhaps this ‘friend’ thing would be a little easier than she’d thought. “Okay Sasuke-san!”
