Do you just have that one friend who you can't imagine life without? Upon whom do you trust your life and soul, with whom you share absolutely everything?
I had a friend who fits that description perfectly.
That was until he turned out to be just like the rest of them.
Heartless, cruel, emotionless and Evil.152Please respect copyright.PENANA38rKXQc55t
I trusted him more than my parents, more than my sister, and more than if possible myself.
When did his other side show up? Well, it all started on a casual Wednesday.
---------------------
"Oh Shoot!" I had gotten late to English class again and luckily I found myself a seat at the very back of the class.
I placed my belongings on the floor and started checking my phone beneath my desk.
Why wasn't Evan here yet? He told me he had English first class too.
Just as I was about to message him, the glass door opened and he clumsily entered.
He glanced at me and searched for an empty seat and found one right next to me.
I had purposefully left that seat for him as I knew he was always and will for the rest of his life remain the Guineas World Record holder for the most latecomer.
I took a closer look at his face and realised he had 2 big black bags under his eyes and his face looked pale and worn out.
He caught me looking at him and I glanced at the message I just received.152Please respect copyright.PENANAqo34DD8U7l
Evan: Can't take your eyes off me can you?
Ugh! Egoistic much. I sighed to myself, rolling my eyes in real life and I added an emoji of it just in case he didn't see my real eye roll.152Please respect copyright.PENANAUcyzfmbrRh
Me: Why are you late this time Mr Excuses?
I asked, knowing he was going to give some lame excuse like he always did.
Evan: ran into an emergency
An emergency. I thought to myself. Was he telling the truth?
Me: Everything okay? 🤨
Evan: Yes mother, everything is fine.
Mother? Gosh, I hated this guy.
"Mr Evan, if you are done using your phone, can you give us the honour of paying attention to this class and tell us what yesterday's lecture was about?" said Mrs Sharlot, in an extremely annoyed tone.
Evan looked at me pleadingly
"Help" he whispered, pleadingly.
I shook my head in defeat. My poor memory was unable to process anything discussed in yesterday's lesson, in fact, barely remember what I ate for breakfast today.
He somehow managed to mix two to two and gave a summary of yesterday's lesson.
After an hour of yawning, and trying to keep my eyes open, the brilliant sound of the bell reached my ears and almost instantly, I popped my bag on my shoulder and left the class.
Evan catches up with me not long after.
"Why do you look so miserable?" I asked him pointing out his large eye bags.
"I'm fine, seriously!" he said with a fake smile and his eyes seemed distant and cold.
"If you say so!" I sighed knowing he was hiding something but I didn't want to pester him. Besides he kept teasing me for acting like his mother! Ick!
"Hey, I'll see you after the rest of our classes!" he said as he almost sprint down the hallway.
Why was he behaving this way? He had never hidden anything from me before, why did he seem so cold and distant towards me?
Classes were the basic daily dose of torture.
I had an oddly painful neck and some terrible hand cramps.
I dragged my feet towards my locker and started selecting the books to keep inside.
I noticed some voices behind the locker wall. I decided to drop in on the not-that-secretive conversation going on.
I heard Evan. He was talking to his friend. He seemed back to normal and his eyes didn't seem distant it seemed like he was having fun.
"Yeah, Jones! She was a pretty dang easy target!" Evan said playfully hitting his shoulder.
"Bro, you know she seems pretty serious about your friendship!" he said, guilt visible in his eyes.
"Yeah you know, that's kind of the whole idea with dares!" he said, his smile making me fume. He said it so casually like there was nothing wrong with it.
My heart felt like it was going to stop beating. I felt tears rolling down my eyes and I didn't care to wipe them away. I clutched my heart, it was throbbing painfully and I felt my knees go weak.
People started looking at me through curious glances and whispering amongst each other.
I glanced back at even. He seemed normal. No guilt in his eyes. Just Cold Blue ones. Nothing like the warm blue ones I remember, looking at while hanging out with him, and pouring my heart out to him, while staying up late at the rooftop of my building with him, sipping on hot chocolate, while crying in front of him, unable to handle all the pressure.
I dropped to my knees and my bad fell to the ground with a loud THUD.
The noise echoed through the corridors, and even came around the corner and glanced at me. His friend came along behind him and with one glance at me, his friend pat his shoulder and left.
I thought he was going to drop down next to me, help me up, tell me it was all just lies, comfort me and wipe my tears but instead, he just started at me, like I was some pathetic girl who was desperate for attention. He grinned at my helplessness and turned on his feet and just left.
Left me lying there, like a mess, like a distant stranger.
I couldn't hold it any longer, I felt my eyes getting heavy, my head started throbbing and my eyes slowly started shutting and then, suddenly, everything blacked out.
(SHE IS NOT DEAD, JUST LOST CONSCIOUSNESS)
