Chapter 016
Beeihae Shinnshiow
Shinnshiow opened his eyes. He did not know, at that time, how long he had been asleep. Unlike before, he felt that his body was very fresh. He can move his hands and feet freely. Everything felt so light.
A few seconds later, he got up. Sitting up on the bed, he looked around the room. No one was there.
I'm alone again!
His friends might be outside the room. Or it could be, they had returned home to rest. Shinnshiow was fully aware the last few days must have been very tiring for them.
Hope they are well!
After about two minutes of pensive in bed, he felt bored. He decided to get out of bed and try to walk. Cautiously, he lowered his foot. His palms pressed on the surface of the bed as a footrest. He didn't want to suddenly fall because his legs weren't strong enough to support his weight.
Shinnshiow was a little surprised because the thing he was worried about didn't happen. He could stand up easily. Slowly, he released his palms from the surface of the mattress. He raised his hands up. He didn't feel anything. Absolutely no pain. His body had recovered.
This is so weird! What kind of magic medicine have they given me?
Shinnshiow began to walk. At first, he lifted and shifted his feet slowly and very carefully. But it was very boring. He started walking faster. Faster and faster. Until finally he walked as usual.
The bedroom door opened. A doctor and a nurse appeared from behind the door.
"You can't get out of bed yet. Let alone walking around like that without being accompanied by other people," said the doctor.
The nurse who entered with the doctor immediately approached Shinnshiow. She held Shinnshiow's hands and body.
"I'm fine. You can see for yourself that I can walk around smoothly. My body is recovering."
The doctor looked at Shinnshiow with a look that was hard to describe. The gleam in his eyes was like a mixture of surprise and amazement. Shinnshiow smiled. Doctors were ordinary people. So it's not strange that their analysis and predictions were not always right.
But, this is a little weird. Did they not expect that the medicine they administered would have an effect this quickly?
"What medicine did you give him?" The doctor looked directly at the nurse, who by then was no longer holding Shinnshiow. The nurse was standing right beside Shinnshiow.
"Only the medicine the doctor has prescribed. Absolutely nothing else." The sentence came out at a slow tempo from the nurse's mouth. Her face was no less strange than the doctor's. She looked at Shinnshiow with an odd look.
What is this? Were there any other medicines I had been taking?
"Did you eat or drink something that didn't come from the doctors and nurses at this hospital?" The doctor looked at Shinnshiow with questioning eyes. His tone was quite polite. However, Shinnshiow found the sentence was quite intimidating.
Shinnshiow shook his head. "Nothing. Absolutely nothing. My friends didn't give me anything. I only ate medicine and food from this hospital."
"Please, Sir, remember again." The doctor apparently still couldn't believe it.
"That's right, Doctor!" Shinnshiow didn't know how to convince the two people. "Is this something unusual?"
"I can't explain this. But it is a miracle." The doctor shook his head vigorously.
"That means I can leave the hospital, right?" Shinnshiow really wished he could go home.
"Wait a minute, Sir! Of course you can't. You have to go through a series of examinations first. The results of the examination will be part of our consideration in determining whether you can go home."
"That's too long." Shinnshiow shook his head. "Doctor! You have to see this. I can do my normal activities?" He jumped up and down to prove that he had really recovered.
"Not necessarily, Sir. Someone who looks healthy is not necessarily really healthy. I hope you don't force yourself to move excessively, such as jumping up and down. Please return to bed first. I will immediately prepare for a thorough examination."
Shinnshiow did not utter any words. He could only nod.
The doctor then walked away towards the door. Before opening the door, he turned around. "Nurse, you take care here. Always accompany Mr. Beeihae."
The nurse nodded vigorously.
I hope she doesn't feel that this is an added burden.
"All right! I'll go back to bed. But first, I'll go to the restroom."
"Please, Sir!" The nurse also walked beside Shinnshiow."
Eh? What is she doing? It's too much!
"Nurse, you don't have to accompany me."
"Sorry, Sir! I'm just carrying out the doctor's orders."
Shinnshiow sighed. He had no other choice but to let the nurse escort him to the front of the bathroom door.
"I can go in myself. Nurse, please, just keep watch in front of the bathroom."
The nurse nodded.
Ah! Luckily, she didn't insist on coming in.
Shinnshiow laughed inside.
Less than three minutes later, Shinnshiow emerged from the bathroom. The nurse stood straight in front of the bathroom. She accompanied Shinnshiow as he walked back to bed. After Shinnshiow lay down on the bed, the nurse sat on a chair that was right next to the bed.
Shinnshiow did not close his eyes. He just lay there, staring at the ceiling. He didn't say anything, either. It was silent because the nurse didn't make any sound either. This situation lasted for about twenty minutes until the bedroom door opened again.
The doctor was back again. This time, he came with three male nurses. One of them brought a wheelchair.
"You will undergo a thorough examination in another room." The doctor smiled.
Shinnshiow just nodded. He had no intention of wasting energy by arguing with the doctor. He only hoped that the examination this time would convince the doctors that he was okay.
"Since you can stand up, we don't have to push your bed to get there. Please take the wheelchair we have prepared for you," said the doctor.
Shinnshiow then got up from the bed and immediately moved to the wheelchair. The doctor and nurses then took Shinnshiow to another room several floors below where Shinnshiow was being treated.
Shinnshiow carried out an examination process that the doctor called a thorough examination process. The entire process took only about forty-five minutes. The doctor said they would have the results in two hours.
The doctor and several nurses, including the nurse who had just accompanied him, then escorted Shinnshiow back to the room. Even though it was only two hours before the results came out, Shinnshiow could see the look of confusion on the doctor's face.
"So far, what does the examination say?" Shinnshiow tried to get a tentative answer from the doctor.
"I'm sorry, Sir. I can't say it right now. But it looks like you're already healthy. It's hard for me to understand this myself. So far, people who have been poisoned by Korabizu, at the earliest, can only walk normally as usual, after one week of being treated."
"There are always exceptions to everything," said Shinnshiow. "Maybe the poison that had entered my body was only very small in dosage. So, the effect didn't last long either."
"That's not usually the case, Sir! Even though the poison that enters is only a small amount, the damage done doesn't immediately recover in a short time. But we admit our knowledge is still very limited. There are many other factors that we may have overlooked."
"Where are my friends, Sir? They must know this news."
"According to the police guarding in front of your room, after giving information to several police officers who came from the police station, they went downstairs. Previously, we had told them you would sleep until at least seven in the evening. So, it was only natural that they then decided to rest first. But, Sir, don't worry. We have already contacted the contact number from the police and also your home telephone number."
"Thank you, Doctor."
"You're welcome, Sir. Now you need to get rest first. In about two hours, I will come back here."
After saying that, the doctor rushed out of the room. The nurses who came with him, one by one, also followed out. The nurse who had come first was the nurse who was currently still in Shinnshiow's room.
"Nurse, you can also go out. There's no need to keep watch in the room." said Shinnshiow.
"Sorry, Sir! Just like the doctor had said earlier, I'm also still a bit confused. You are recovering quickly because basically your body can recover on its own in an extraordinarily fast tempo or because certain substances have entered your body. "
"But I didn't eat anything other than what the hospital gave me."
"Indeed, there is no super drug that we give you. But the thing can also enter your body in other ways."
"What do you mean?"
"Sorry, Sir! Actually I shouldn't speculate. I should only convey this kind of suspicion to the doctor or the hospital."
"I understand. If foreign substances other than the drugs given by the doctor enter the patient's body without the patient's knowledge, of course, it will be a problem. The patient or the patient's family can sue the hospital. But, don't worry. We won't be looking for a commotion.."
The nurse still looked doubtful.
"I'm not going to tell the doctor, or any of the other people who work at this hospital, that you've said anything. So even if it's just speculation, I'd love to hear it too."
The nurse took a deep breath. It seemed she had already made up her mind.
"There could be foreign substances that have entered through the food that you ate this afternoon. Or through the IV fluids that we gave you this morning."
"Shouldn't it be sterile?" Shinnshiow looked at the nurse's face. "So, is it possible that someone touched the food or IV before it was given to me?"
"This hospital is a big and luxurious hospital. So it should be that safety in this place is the main thing. And it's true that it is a priority here. But that doesn't mean that there have never been some violations."
The nurse stopped talking. Her face changed. Shinnshiow was worried that she would regret what she said, so she didn't want to finish what she had started.
"Don't be afraid. This is our secret. You will not get involved in this."
"Six months ago there was an error in the administration of drugs through intravenous fluids."
Again, the nurse stopped talking.
Shinnshiow was surprised to hear that.
"One month earlier." The nurse continued. "There was also a patient who vomited because the food he was eating was mixed up with that of another patient. According to one of my seniors here, something like this had also happened several times a few years ago."
Those kind of things shouldn't happen in a nice hospital like this.
"Nurse, how long have you been working here?"
"Just one year, Sir."
"Before, worked at another hospital?"
"I just graduated from nursing school two years ago. But only a year ago I got a job."
"So you have to wait a year before you can work in the health sector."
"That's because I graduated from a faraway place, Sir. So the hospitals in this big city and also the surrounding areas only prioritize nursing school graduates in this area. We, who are graduates from the other regions, have to fight hard to be accepted."
"It turns out that there is such a thing."
"Yes, Sir! At least, in the health sector, it happened. I don't know how it is in other sectors."
"Back to the matter. How come I never heard any news about those things?"
"Because the hospital always finds an agreement with the patient's family. So, legally, there has never been a lawsuit."
"But financially, of course, it's a bit burdensome."
"I think so, Sir! But that's much better than getting into legal troubles. Reputation is much more important."
"So, the bottom line is there is a possibility of super-drugs or drugs entering my body through IV fluids or food from this hospital."
"Yes, Sir! That's exactly what I mean."
"I'm definitely not going to sue because I haven't had any negative effects."
"Thank you, Sir!"
"By the way, where are you from?"
"I'm from Yeuandong, Sir!"
"Huh! Same with me!"
"I know, Sir. I recognize your accent and that of your friends."
"But your accent is not like the accent of the people who come from there."
"The family where I grew up has always advised me to practice using the accent that is common in Tianjing or this city if I really want to make a career in Tianjing or in this city. So, I have been practicing for a long time. And for one the year after I graduated, while waiting to get a job, I used to train really hard. So, with an accent like you can hear now, people don't suspect that I'm not from here."
"Yes. Your accent is indeed very similar to the natives of this city. So, from the beginning, the nurse wanted to have a career in this city or in Tianjing."
"That's right, Sir! I have my reasons for doing that."
Shinnshiow knew that the reason must be personal. He didn't want to ask about it because there was a possibility that the nurse would shut down and no longer want to talk to him.
"What's your name?" asked Shinnshiow.
The nurse quickly answered. "My name is Jangjean Yangkwei."
"Miss Jangjean, nice to meet you."
"I am also pleased to meet you, Mr. Beeihae."
Without being preceded by a knock, the door suddenly opened. Yihshyong and Iren appeared from behind the door. Their faces were so bright. Their eyes widened when they realized Shinnshiow and Jangjean were having a conversation.
"What's going on? It looks like you two are having a great time." Yihshyong looked at Shinnshiow and Jangjean with a big smile.
"Sorry, Sir. I have to go now," said Jangjean. His voice sounded a little nervous. The nurse nodded at Tsaehorng and Yihshyong before exiting the room.
"Iren, it looks like we came at the wrong time."
"Shyongge's right! We're disturbing Shiowdi, who is currently undergoing recovery therapy."
"What's wrong with you guys? Nothing happened here. We were just chatting about something very important. So put your wild imaginations aside first."
Iren and Yihshyong then laughed heartily.
"Where have you been?"

"Earlier, we went downstairs with Jenqyih and Tsaehorng. After that, because the doctor said that Dahge was fine, just needed to rest, we intended to visit him."
"Only intended? So you haven't been there yet?"
Yihshyong and Iren shook their heads in unison.
"Why?"
"On the way to the room where Dahge is being treated, another doctor stopped us. He said that Dahge was fast asleep. We better not disturb him."
"Didn't you guys think that's a bit odd?"
Iren nodded. "We didn't want to argue with the doctor or the other people here. So we turned around and waited in the lobby for a while."
"Actually, it didn't really matter," Yihshyong said. "Soon after this, I will be there to accompany Dahge. Meanwhile, Iren will continue to be here to accompany you."
"Thank You." Shinnshiow nodded. "Yihge and Tsaehorng are back already?"
"I sent Jenqyih home. I feel sorry for Chioujen if she has to be alone at home too long," Yihshyong said. "Regarding Tsaehorng, he's a busy man, so he always has things to take care of. I feel bad if we keep troubling him."
"It's just, it's difficult for us to refuse his help," said Iren. "There is currently no other party we can rely on."
"Where is the young man whose voice is similar to Dahge's now?"
"You mean Jinqkang? The police are borrowing him. They need someone who sounds like Dahge," said Yihshyong. "This is a long story. We'll tell it another time at home."
"I hope I can meet the young man soon," said Shinnshiow. "I wonder what he's like."
"You already talked to him on the phone," said Iren.
"But I thought I was talking to Dahge. How did he look?"
"Unlike his voice and accent, his appearance doesn't look like Dahge at all. I think he looks more like Tsaehorng. Iren, what do you think?"
Iren nodded. "That's right! Her body shape is somewhat similar to Tsaehorng. However, his face is very different."
"His face actually looks like the face of one of my father's cousins." Yihshyong spoke with such a certain tone. "Do you guys remember? I showed you a picture of him once." He turned to Iren.
"Your father's cousin? Which one?" Iren scratched his head. "Your father has a lot of cousins."
"The one who became the swimming coach."
"Oh! The one who often trains those elementary school kids?"
"That's right! What do you think? Very similar, right?"
"But he's bald."
"I just said the face is similar, not the hair!"
Iren laughed. "You're right. I think from a distance they do look alike. At least, if we look at it from over fifty meters."
Shinnshiow laughed. He had seen that photo too. If Yihshyong's words were true, he could already imagine what Jinqkang looked like.
Yihshyong continued his words. "Ah, Shiowdi, you said earlier that you and the nurse were having a conversation about something important. What was that?"
"About that, now I'm going to talk seriously." Shinnshiow got up from the bed. He got down and sat on one of the chairs. He felt very excited.
