It was another normal Thursday, or so I thought. It all began in the afternoon. "Detective Jones, there is another case at the Stone Bricks Mall." My radio said. I think his name is like Joe. I sighed and picked up my radio. 'Not another one.' I thought. There had been 5 other cases recently and they were all linked in some way. "I'm heading over there now. Is it another one?" I ask. "I think so. This one is worse than all the other cases we have ever had." Joe sadly exclaimed. Me and Joe say our goodbyes and I pick up my phone to call my wife. It doesn't pick up for a bit, but that’s nothing unusual. Sometimes it takes her an hour to call back. I hang up once it goes to voicemail.

In 15 minutes, I am at the Stone Bricks Mall. I check my phone before going in. Sara-my wonderful wife, sent a long text. Usually when she does so, she’s angry at me or she confesses something to me, but I brush it off as I need to get to the victim and do my job. The second I open the door to the mall I gasp in horror. The victim is my best friend, Lily. The other part that makes me feel stones in my stomach is how she looks. Her eyes tore out. Her face all bloodied. Her limbs cut off. Her intestines sticking out. It makes me feel sick to my stomach. Whoever did this will pay the price big time.

"Hi...are you Detective Jones?" A voice asks behind me. At this point I have been holding Lily in my hands, unable to speak. I look at the voice, and see a man who looks like he is in his late thirties or early forties. I try to say something, anything, but there is a huge lump in my throat, so instead I nod. "My name is Billy Stone, I am one of the owners of this mall, and I used to be a police officer, so I know that they will ask you to get away from the body." As if on cue, some police officers walk in. "We are going to have to ask you to step away from the body." One of them says. I am able to speak again, thank goodness. "S-she’s not just a body. She was my best friend." I still step away from Lily though, out of respect as I know they are probably tired and just want to go home. The police officers apologize while one calls an ambulance to take Lily away. After some talking with the officers and Billy Stone, I get to go home. I run to my car because I can't look at this mall ever again.

The second I get home I have a panic attack in my car. I honestly have no clue how I was able to go home without any panic attacks. When the attack ends, I remember about the long text. I decide I need to focus on the case and not on my wife. She will understand.

I have been researching on Lily's case for what seems like forever and not a single clue. I haven't even used my phone yet as I am too busy. "Hey." Sara says. She seems scared. "What’s wrong babe?" I ask her in a concerned voice. "I'm worried about you." She says. "It’s ok. I'm ok. But whoever did this will burn in hell." I start to get angry at the world. 'How, how could they do this to an innocent, bright girl?' At that moment I get a phone call. I look at where it says who is calling. "It’s Dave, that one police officer." I tell my wife. "I will go then so I don't make any noise." She then walks away, going to her room. "Hello Dave! What’s going on?" I say in my best pretend happy voice. "You sound so cheery! Well I got some news on the 6th cas-" Dave starts. "What is it- oh sorry I'm just excited.” I interrupt. "It’s ok. We got some evidence now and we think we know who did it. Come to the police station, you will want to see this. And bring Sara." Dave finishes. We say our goodbyes and I then tell Sara. "Oh really? That is great!" Sara exclaims. "I will take you too! Let’s go!" I yell as I bolt out the door. "I will get something first!" Sara yells back.

After a minute Sara comes in the door. The second she buckles in I start the car. Me and Sara don't really talk on the 5 minute drive, but that’s ok with me. My heart is racing. 'The jerk who did this will rot in jail.' When we finally get there me and Sara run to the door. But the second I open it, Sara starts crying. "What’s wrong babe?" I say as I wrap my arms around her. But all Sara does is push me away and runs up to Dave. "HE TRIED TO MURDER ME! HE KILLED LILY!" She screams. 'What the fuck is going on?' Dave then yells for the other officers to get her, and Sara tries to run away. She then goes behind me and grabs my neck and pulls out a knife. "You get me, he dies." She says. The officers look at each other. I try to think about what’s going on and I only think of one thing that is obvious. Sara, my beloved wife, killed Lily. Why else would the officers need to take her? I decide I won't let her get away. For Lily. I then grab her arms and pull them off, but Sara cuts a little piece off my neck. It missed the jugular vein, so I should not die but it hurts a lot. I grab the knife and toss it to the ground so she can't hurt me or anyone else. Sara tries to run away so I grab her legs and she falls to the ground on her face.

"She dead?" Dave asks. I walk up to her, trembling. I put my left pointer finger against her neck. 'Phew, a pulse. Even though she killed Lily, I can't be a killer like her.' I look up at them. "Alive. But I did knock her out cold." I tell them.

"Do you know why she might have killed Lily?" The interrogator asks me. I think to myself....why...why would Sara possibly do this? After like a minute I finally remember. "Two years ago, Lily played a mean prank on her where she pretended to be dead. And also, they never got along. Sara did have anger issues and mental problems in the past, they could have come back." I state. The interrogator writes it down. "All right, your good to go." The interrogator then points at the door. I walk out and go in the car. I realized I have somehow not even read the long message Sara sent me all that time ago. It reads, "Dear Robert, I know when you read this you will know, but I had to tell you. Lily...I killed her. And no, I am not joking. She just kept bothering me. If you want proof I did it then look in the garage. It’s not any blood or anything but its clothes with stains. I know you will hate me for this. You and Lily just always seemed so close. Too close...I had to do it. But I was not the only murderer. You WILL find him again someday. This is my warning. He will tear you apart limb by limb like he did to Lily.''

When I get home, I think. A lot more than normal. 'So, Sara, my love, was a killer? And why did she kill those other five innocent kids? Wait...she was adopted and all those kids were not. Maybe she was jealous. Jealous that she never had biological loving parents. That won't excuse what she did. And about the whole there is another killer she is lying I know she is. I will never trust her again. I will never love her again. I will make sure everyone knows what she did. I will make sure she never escapes from jail.' Sara, game ON.
Book 2 will be called The Detective And The Suspect: The Battle. It will be the longest and also last story of this stuff!
