*3rd POV*
Elena woke up on a couch, she heard two voices whisper-yelling. She walked over to where the voices were coming from. "Look, it's not too late. We can leave them here. We don't have to go through with this," Trevor argued.69Please respect copyright.PENANAJBgbKFJmY6
"I'm sick of running," Rose argues back. "Yeah? Well, running keeps us from dying," he yelled. "Elijah is old school. If he accepts our deal, we're free," she told him.
Elena tried to sneak away but the floorboards creaked under her.69Please respect copyright.PENANAUeUv9BgrFH
"You!" Rose yells, "There's nothing around here for miles. If you think you're getting out of this house, you're tragically wrong. Understand?"
Rose sped in front of Elena, "Who's Elijah?" Elena breathes out. "Your worst nightmare," Rose whispered as she walked away from her.
×
"Why am I here?" Elena asked Rose. "You keep asking me these questions like I'm gonna answer them," Rose replied. "Why won't you?" Elena asks. "That's another one," Rose said annoyed. "You got me. Ok? It's not like I can go anywhere. The least you can do is tell me what you want with me... and that coffin," Elena demands while gesturing towards the glass coffin in the middle of the room. Inside the coffin was the corpse of a female. She had pale white skin and pitch-black hair. She looked like she was in a peaceful slumber.
"I personally want nothing. I'm just a delivery service," Rose says as she moves around the room tidying it up. "Delivery to who? Elijah?" Elena asks.69Please respect copyright.PENANAra0kVVjzcT
Rose chuckles, "Two points to the eavesdropper."
"Who is he? Is he a vampire? And who's in the coffin?" Elena pesters. "He's one of the vampires, the originals. Inside the coffin is Elizabeth, someone important to Elijah," Rose explained briefly.69Please respect copyright.PENANA2sfEXPpdhw
"What do you mean, the originals?" Elena questioned.
"Again with the questions. Haven't the Salvatores been teaching you your vampire history?" Rose asked nonchalantly. "So, you know Stefan and Damon," Elena pointed out. "I know of them. A hundred years back, a friend of mine tried to set me up with Stefan. She said he was one of the good ones. I'm more of a sucker for the bad boys, though, but I digress," Rose chuckles quietly.
"Who are the originals? Who's Elizabeth?" Elena asked again. Rose sighed heavily while turning to face the doe-eyed girl. "Trevor and I have been running for 500 years. We're tired. We want it over. We're using you and Elizabeth to negotiate ourselves out of an old mess," Rose explained. "But why us?" Elena asked with curiosity.
"Because you're a Petrova doppelganger. And Elijah has been looking for Elizabeth's coffin for centuries, both of you are the key to breaking the curse," Rose told her. "Curse? The sun and the moon curse?" Elena asked her in a confused tone. "Ohh. You do know your history," Rose rolled her eyes. "What do you mean I'm the key? The moonstone is what breaks the curse," Elena stated.
"No. The moonstone is what binds the curse. Sacrifice is what breaks it," Rose tells her. "Sacrifice?" Elena whispers, confused. "The blood of the doppelganger. You're the doppelganger. Which means in order to break the curse, you're the one that has to die," Rose says bluntly. "How does Elizabeth fit into this?" Elena continues to ask questions. Rose sighed, "Once the sun and the moon curse is broken, Elizabeth will awaken. She's important to Elijah, she was taken from him many years ago and placed somewhere, where no one would ever find her. He wants her back, so, we're gonna give her back."
×
"Tell me more," Elena demanded while examining the coffin. Trevor walks into the room, "Captivity has made her pushy, eh? What do you want to know, doppelicious?" Trevor says as he proceeds to cover one of the windows. "Who are you running from?" The brunette asks. "The originals," Trevor answered. "Yeah, she said that. What does that mean?" Elena questions.
"The first family--" he kicks a couple of books, "The old world-- Rose and I pissed 'em off," Trevor states. "Mm-mmm," Rose hums. "Correction-- I pissed them off. Rose had my back. And for over half a millennium, they've wanted us dead," He says throwing a book at Elena's feet.
"What did you do?" Elena asks quietly. Trevor looks towards Rose. "He made the same mistake countless others did. He trusted Katerina Petrova," Rose tells the girl. "Katherine," Elena states the obvious. "Mm. The one and only-- The first Petrova doppelganger," Rose says as she walks away. "I helped her escape her fate. And now I've-- Sorry, we've-- been marked ever since," Trevor states. "Which is why we're not gonna make the same mistake again," Rose tells Trevor. They both walk out of the room, leaving Elena alone with the coffin.
×
Rose continued to clean up around the room. Elena sat on the couch next to the coffin. "He's here. This was a mistake," Trevor pants as he enters the room. "No, I told you I would get us out of this. You have to trust me," Rose tells Trevor. "No! He wants me dead, Rose!" Trevor yells while pacing around the room. "He wants them more," Rose assures him. "I can't do this. You give them to him, he'll have mercy on you, but I need to get out of here," Trevor says as he freaks out. Rose grabs ahold of him, "Hey. What are we?" She asks him. He takes a couple of deep breaths before replying, "We're family. Forever." They nod their heads together.
A loud pounding on the door interrupts them. "You're scared," Elena points out. Rose looks at Elena before turning back to Trevor, "Stay here with her. And don't make a sound." Rose runs to get the door, leaving Elena alone with Trevor and the coffin.
×
Rose walked down the stairs to see Elijah standing outside the door. "Rose-Marie. Is there somewhere we can talk?" Elijah asked. Rose sighed, "Yes. In here. You h-have to forgive the house." Elijah looked around and replied, "Oh, no. What's a little dirt? I completely understand." He closes the door as he walks into the house. "So tell me, what is it that gives you the courage to call me?" He questions. "I wanted my freedom. I'm tired of running. You in a position to grant me that?" She asks him quietly.
"I have complete authority to grant pardon to you and your little pet. What is his name these days? Trevor. If I so see fit," he sighs. "Katerina Petrova?" Rose questions. Elijah turns around and raises his eyebrows at her. "I'm listening," he says as he goes to sit down.
"She didn't burn in the church in 1864," she said waiting for his reply. "Continue," he stated. "She survived," she replied. "Where is she?" He asked expectantly. "You don't seem surprised by this," Rose pointed out. "Oh, when you called and invited me into this armpit of civilization, which is a mere 3 hours from the town we know as Mystic Falls, I surmised it had everything to do with Katerina. Do you have her in your possession?" He questioned her.
"No. I have better. I have her doppelganger and Elizabeth," Rose stated confidently. "That's impossible. Her family line ended with her. I know that for a fact. As for Elizabeth, her coffin was cloaked by a witch and hidden in a place only Mikael knew about," Elijah said in disbelief. "The facts are wrong and the witch must have died because we did a locator spell and found her coffin," she said, her voice full of confidence. Elijah sat up in his seat, "Well, show them to me," he demanded.
"Elijah, you're a man of honor. You're to be trusted, but I want to hear you say it again," she says softly. "You have my word that I will pardon you," Elijah whispers. She stares at him for a few seconds before replying, "Follow me." She walks out of the room, and Elijah stands up and follows her.
They walk into the room where Elena is pacing back and forth. She turns around to face the two vampires and Elijah speeds over to her. Elena starts shaking as he leans down to sniff her neck. "Human. It's impossible. Hello there." Elena looked Elijah in the eyes, her body shaking and tears in her eyes. He turned around and walked towards the coffin. He stopped right in front of it and touched the coffin. Elijah started to groan in pain and grabbed his head. He removed his hand from the coffin and the pain seemed to cease. He stood up straight and fixed his jacket.
×
Elijah walked towards Elena, "Well, we have a long journey ahead of us. We should be going." Elena looked at Rose and begged her, "Please, don't let him take me."
"One last piece of business. Then we're done," Elijah said as he turned to walk toward Trevor. "I've waited so long for this day, Elijah. I'm truly very sorry," Trevor says as he looks at the ground. "Oh, no, your apology's not necessary," Elijah said quickly. "Yes. Yes, it is. You trusted me with Katerina... and I failed you," Trevor insisted. "Oh, yes, you are the guilty one, and Rose aided you because she was loyal to you. That, I honor. Where was your loyalty?" Elijah asked him.
"I beg your forgiveness," he begs quietly. "So granted," Elijah says briefly. Suddenly, Elijah smacks Trevor's head off of his body, killing him. Rose gasps and starts crying, "You--" Elijah interrupts her, "Don't, Rose..." he says as he fixes his suit. "Now that you are free," he says as Rose continues to cry. He cracks his neck and walks towards Elena, "Come."
"No, what about the moonstone?" Elena chokes out. "What do you know about the moonstone?" Elijah questions. "I know that you need it, and I know where it is," she stutters. "Yes," he confirms. "I can help you get it," she tells him. "Tell me where it is," he demands. "It doesn't work that way," Elena breathes out. "Are you negotiating with me?" He asks while turning to look at Rose. "It's the first I've heard of it," Rose spits out. Elijah turned back to Elena, "What is this vervain doing around your neck?" He grabs the necklace and rips it off of her neck, throwing it across the room. He grabbed Elena by the back of her neck, forcing her to look him in the eyes, "Tell me where the moonstone is."
"In the tomb underneath the church ruins," Elena says, her voice emotionless. "What is it doing there?" He asks her. "It's with Katherine," she whispers. "Interesting," Elijah states.
The sound of glass shattering filled the house. "What is that?" Elijah asked. "I don't know," Rose tells him. "Who else is in this house?" He questions. "I don't know," Rose repeats. Elijah grabs Elena and tugs her towards the front door. "Move," he yells at Rose. She follows behind him, he stops to look around and a figure speeds around them. Elijah pushes Elena into Rose's arms, another figure speeds past them again. "Rose," Elijah says in an annoyed tone. "I don't know who it is," Rose insisted. One of the figures speeds past them one more time.
"Up here," a voice said. Elijah sped up the stairs, stopping halfway. "Down here," another voice said. A stake is shot into Elijah's hand, he pulls it out with an annoyed expression on his face. When he looks back down the stairs, Elena and Rose are missing. "Excuse me. To whom it may concern, you're making a great mistake if you think you can beat me. You can't. You hear that? I repeat--" he yells out as he breaks a coat hanger in half, "You cannot beat me. So I want the girl on the count of 3, or heads will roll. Do we understand each other?"
"I'll come with you. Just please don't hurt my friends. They just wanted to help me out," Elena pleads as she stands at the top of the stairs. Elijah speeds up the stairs, stopping halfway. "What game are you playing with me?" He questions. Elena pulls out a vervain grenade and pulls the pin, throwing the grenade at Elijah. It explodes in his face, making him scream in pain. He recovers quickly and began making his way toward Elena. Stefan steps out and starts shooting him with wooden bullets, but none of the bullets affect Elijah. Stefan decides to tackle him, sending both of them down the stairs. Elijah gets up and attacks Stefan, but Damon pops out and stabs Elijah with the coat rack. Elijah dies, his body desiccating as it's stuck in the wall. Rose runs away after seeing Elijah's dead body. Damon heads after her but is stopped by Elena's voice, "Just let her go."
Elena runs down the stairs and into Stefan's arms. "Hey, come here. Are you hurt? You ok?" He questions. Elena looks at Damon while hugging Stefan, 'Thank you,' she mouths.69Please respect copyright.PENANAdESVFNmanQ
'You're welcome,' he mouths back. She hugs Stefan for a few more seconds before pulling away. "There's a coffin, with a girl inside of it. She's a part of the sun and the moon curse. I think we should take her with us," Elena stated. Stefan looked at Elena before looking at his brother. "Do we have to?" Damon whined. "Rose said she was important, Damon," she tells him. Damon sighs, "Show me her coffin and I'll carry it to the car."
Elena took them to Elizabeth's coffin and Damon walked up to it. "Be careful, when Elijah touched it he sounded like he was in pain," she warned him. Damon looked at her with a look of disbelief before turning back to the coffin. He looked inside the coffin and saw the girl sleeping. The girl had long black hair and pale ivory skin, she looked almost lifeless. He laid his hand on top of the coffin, testing the waters. He shrugged and carried the coffin to the car with ease.

Damon stood at the table, where they kept the booze, and poured himself a glass of whiskey. He took a huge gulp of the drink when Stefan walked into the room. "Where's Elena?" Damon asked. "She's home," Stefan replied. "And you're here why?" Damon questioned as he turned around to face his younger brother. "Because she wanted to be with Jeremy," Stefan stated, walking closer to Damon. "Here," Damon said, handing Stefan a glass of whiskey.
"Thanks," he whispered as he took the glass. "Listen, uh, what Rose told Elena about the curse..." Stefan began as he leaned on the back of the couch. "I know. We'll keep her safe," Damon assured him as he took another sip of his whiskey. "You know the only way we're gonna be able to do that is if we're not fighting each other," Stefan points out, "We let Katherine come between us. We let that happen with Elena, we're not gonna be able to protect her."
"Yes, Stefan. Heard it all before," Damon sighed heavily before finishing his drink and setting it down. "Hey," Stefan calls out. "What?" Damon asks as he turns around to face his little brother. "I'm sorry," he replies softly. "About what?" Damon asks, rolling his eyes. "For being the guy who made you turn 145 years ago," Stefan says. "Enough, Stef. It's late. We don't need to rehash that," Damon said, turning back around. "You know what? I've never said it out loud. I guess I just need to say it, and you need to hear it," he tells him, making Damon clench his jaw tightly. "I'm sorry. What I did was selfish. I didn't want to be alone," he continued, Damon turned to face him. "Guess I just needed my brother," he finished, nodding his head in Damon's direction and walking off. Damon poured himself another drink before sighing.
Damon's head suddenly began hurting, visions playing in his mind. A young girl was running around with a little boy. He couldn't make out the details of the little boy, he was like a blurry figure. The young girl had pale skin, bright dark green eyes, and long pitch-black hair, she reminded Damon of Snow White.
"Slow down brother, you are too fast," the girl giggled breathlessly. The boy stopped in front of her, "Maybe you are just slow, dear sister," he panted. He tugged the girl into a clearing in the forest. "Today they taught me how to control the wind, let's start with that," he whispers. The two stand in the center of the clearing. He held both of her hands and told her the words to chant. She began chanting, her hands glowing in his, and the wind began picking up and the leaves swirled around the two. The girl began giggling and hugged the boy. "It's amazing! I love it!" She squealed.
×
Stefan walked into the parlor room and walked up to the booze table. A figure sped around the room, alerting Stefan. He ran and got a stake ready just in case, "Who's there?" He yells out. Rose walks into the room, "I'm not here to hurt you," she says.69Please respect copyright.PENANAaGn0oMG79Z
"Why are you here?" Stefan asks. "Lexi once told me that you're one of the good ones," she informed him. "You knew Lexi?" He questioned. "Trevor was my best friend. For 500 years, I have lived with one person, and he's gone. And I don't want to run anymore, because I don't have anywhere else to run to," she states.
"Well, I'm sorry, but I can't help you," Stefan tells her. "I don't need your help, but I think you need mine. Elijah may be dead, but this isn't over," she says bluntly. "What do you mean it's not over?" He asks her. "It isn't over. The originals, they'll come for them. They have to. They're doing it for him," she informs him. "For who?" He questions.
"Klaus."
×
There was a knocking at the door, and Damon went to answer it. He opened the door to reveal Elena. "Hello, Elena," he greets. "Stefan here? He called, said it was important," she breathes out. "Right this way," he says, stepping aside and letting Elena into the house. "Hey," Stefan greets her.
"What is this about?" Elena questions. Stefan steps aside to reveal Rose. "You," Elena whispers. Rose gives her a tight smile and Stefan turns around to face Elena again.
×
"Ok, you have to understand, I only know what I've picked up over the years. And I don't know what's true and what's not true. That's the problem with all this vampire crap. But Klaus and Elizabeth, I know are real," Rose explained. "Who are they?" Elena asks while shrugging her shoulders. "Klaus is one of the originals. He's a legend," Damon tells her. "From the first generations of vampires," Stefan says.
"Like Elijah," Elena pointed out. "No. Elijah was the Easter bunny compared to Klaus. He was a foot soldier. Klaus is the real deal. As for Elizabeth, all I know about her is that she was cursed and taken from Klaus many years ago, he wants her back," Rose explains. "Klaus and Elizabeth are known to be the oldest," Stefan reveals. "Ok, so you're saying that the oldest vampire in the history of time is coming after me and this coffin?" Elena asks. "Yes," Rose said as Stefan said, "No."
"What they're saying is... If what she's saying is true..." Damon began. "Which it is," Rose cut in. "And you're not just saying it so we don't kill you..." he continued. "Which I'm not," she cut in again. "Then we're lookin' at a solid maybe," he finishes.
"Look, Elijah's dead, right? So no one else even knows that you exist or that we even have the coffin," Stefan assures Elena. "Not that you know of," Rose tells him. "That's not helping," Damon points out. "Look, I've never even met anyone who's laid eyes on him. I mean, we're talking centuries of truth mixed with fiction. I mean, we don't know what's real. For all we know he could just be some sort of stupid bedtime story," Stefan rambles on. "He's real, and he doesn't give up. If he wants something, he gets it. If you're not afraid of Klaus you're an idiot," Rose tells them.
"All right, we're shaking. You've made your point," Damon tells her. Elena stands up, grabs her bag, and begins walking towards the front door. "Where you going?" Stefan asks her. "School. I'm late," Elena tells him while eyeing Rose. "Let me, uh-- Let me grab my stuff. I'll go with you," Stefan says while getting up. "That's ok. I know where it is," Elena informs him. She walks away from them and out the door.
"She's in denial," Damon whispers. "Shut up, Damon," Stefan tells him.
×
"Alright Rosebud, I need some answers," Damon says as he walks into the room. Rose is standing there crying. "Oh, please don't tell me you're crying 'cause your buddy Trevor lost his head," Damon tells her as she walks away from him. "You always been this sensitive?" Rose asked sarcastically while wiping away her tears. "There's a little vampire switch you can just pfft for this very reason. Takes the emotion out of it," he whispers to her. "Yeah, you switch yours, I'll switch mine," she tells him. "Is that a dig?" Damon asks her. "It's an observation. Being in love with your brother's girlfriend must be difficult," she states.
'Ouch,' Damon thought.
"I'm not in love with anyone," He assured her. "You wanna try that again?" She asked sarcastically. Damon sped in front of her, "Don't get on my bad side," he tells her in annoyance. "Then show me your good side," Rose demands, getting on Damon's nerves.
"How do I find Klaus? And why do I keep having these visions and dreams of the girl in that coffin?" Damon asks her. "You don't find Klaus. He finds you. As for the dreams and visions, Elizabeth's coffin is cursed. Any supernatural being that touches it begins to see her life flash before their eyes. Some of them have even said that you begin to see and hear her," Rose tells him. "Come on. Somebody's gotta know somebody who knows where he is, right? And how do I get rid of these memories and the pain that comes with them?" Damon pesters her some more.
"Add another 200 somebodies to that, and you're still not even close. As for the memories and pain, there's no way to get rid of them. Eventually, they just go away," she informs him. "Humor me. You got in touch with Elijah. How'd you do it? Also, how do you wake Elizabeth?" he asked her. "Through a very low somebody on the totem pole," she pauses, Damon motions for her to continue. "A guy named Slater in Richmond. As for Elizabeth, no one knows," she replied, rolling her eyes.
"Perfect. I'll drive, maybe he knows something about Elizabeth," Damon said to her. "No. You forget not all of us can do sun," she points out. "Then you drive. Come on," he tells her as he walks out of the room.
×
Rose parked the car in the garage and they got out. "Back entrance. How convenient," Damon states as he closes the car door. "That's the point. We can't all have little daylight rings," she says as he walks up to her. "How do you know this Slater guy's even here?" he asked her as they walked towards a door. "I called him. He's here. He's always here," she tells him. "Good. Just one thing," Damon says as he pushes her up against a pillar. "If you are setting me up in any way, I will rip your heart out and shove it down your throat. It's something I'm very good at," he says with a smug smile.
Rose twists his arm around and pins him up against the car. "I'm older than you and stronger. Don't get on my bad side," she warns him, using his own words. She lets him go and he turns around to face her. "You can trust me," she tells him as she walks away. Damon follows her into a cafe, the front of it had big glass windows. "Woah. What about the, uh... sunlight?" Damon asked her cautiously. "Double-paned and tempered. UV rays can't penetrate. You see the appeal now?" She asks. "Mm. That and the free Wi-Fi," a man says as he approaches them. Rose hugs the man and greets him, "Hey. How are you?"
"Good. I saw you come. What are you doin' here?" The man asks Rose. "Mmm, it's a long story, but I want you to meet--" she pauses as they both look at Damon. "Damon Salvatore. Turned 1864, Mystic Falls, by Katherine Pierce, aka Katerina Petrova," he rambles on in awe.
'Strange dude...' Damon thought.
"So I take it I was right. What I told you about the tomb under the church is true?" He questions her. "Yes. It was right. Thank you for the tip," she thanks him. Slater chuckles before turning to look at Damon, "Yeah. It's nice to meet you," he says as he holds his hand out for Damon to take. Damon gave Rose a look before taking the guy's hand. "Maybe. What's goin' on, Rose? Where's, uh, Trevor?" He questions her. Damon made an 'o' face and looked away awkwardly. Rose gave him a tight smile before frowning.
×
"And you're sure that Elijah's dead?" Slater questioned. "Beyond dead," Damon confirmed. "Trevor was a good man, helped me with my dissertation on sexual deviance in the Baroque period. I was going for my Psych Ph.D.," Slater rambled on as they all sat down at a table. "Slater's been in college since '74," Rose explained. "When I was turned. I have 18 degrees-- 3 Master's, and 4 PhDs," he continued. Slaters bragging was starting to get on Damon's nerves.
"The point?" Damon asks in an annoyed tone. "Exactly. I mean, what is the point? What should I be doing with my eternity? If you have an answer, please enlighten me," Slater replies sarcastically. Rose grabs Slater's arm before speaking up, "We need your help. If someone wanted to get in touch with Klaus, how would you hook 'em up? And what can you tell us about Elizabeth, the one in the coffin," she asks him. "Craigslist. As for Elizabeth, I don't know anything about her other than what I've told you before," Slater states, his voice changing in tone with the mention of Elizabeth. "Really?" Damon asks in disbelief. "Seriously. I respond to a personal ad that gets sent to somebody who knows somebody who knows Elijah, who's dead, and that's where my connection ends," Slater informs them.
'Great,' Damon thought.
×
"Here's what I don't get. Elijah moves around during the day, which means the original people knew the secret of the day ring. Now, why would Klaus want to lift the curse of the sun and the moon?" Damon asked Slater. "To keep the werewolves from lifting it. If a vampire breaks the sun curse, then the werewolves are stuck with the curse of the moon forever and vice versa. And if he breaks the sun curse, Elizabeth will awaken," Slater explained. "But werewolves are all but extinct," Rose whispered. "True. I've never seen one, but rumor has it--" Damon cut him off, "Not such a rumor."
"Mystic Falls?" He questions and Damon nods his head at him. "God, I've got to visit this place. It sounds awesome," he breathes out. "Awesome doesn't even begin to describe it. Can we stop the curse from being broken at all?" Damon asks him. "Well, what do you mean?" Slater looks at Damon with a confused expression on his face. "Well, if we rendered the moonstone useless and stopped the curse from being broken," Damon suggested. "Well, yeah, probably, but why would you wanna do that?" Slater asks warily. "Tell me how," Damon demands, giving him a small smile.
"You think I'm going to help you figure out how to do something that will piss off an original? And keep me from walking in the sun?" He asks in disbelief. "You wanna walk in the sun? I can make that happen, if you help us," Damon tells him. Suddenly there's an explosion inside the cafe and all the nightwalkers start burning. Damon grabs Rose and carries her out of the cafe. "You're gonna be ok," he said as he put her in the car. "I know, I just--" Damon interrupted her. "Who was behind that?" he asked her demandingly. "I don't know. Where's Slater?" Rose asked him. "Iowa by now. Who the hell knows?" Damon says sarcastically. "He's not behind this. He's a good guy. He wouldn't betray me," Rose rambles on. "Then who did it?" he demanded an answer.
"It's Klaus. Don't you understand? You don't know this man. I'm dead. We're all dead," she cried hysterically.
×
Damon sat on the arm of the couch, staring into the fire. He took a drink from the bottle of whiskey, Elizabeth's memories playing in his mind. He could hear her screams echoing in the back of his head.
"I'm sorry about today. I didn't know that was gonna happen," Rose sighs as she enters the room. Damon's brought out of his thoughts by her voice. "I believe you," he tells her truthfully. "I wish we could save Elena. I know that you want to," she says softly. "And I will," he said confidently.
"You remind me of Trevor," she said, her voice filled with humor. "Why? Why him?" Damon asked, furrowing his brows in confusion. "Because he always talked a big game, he was always working an angle, but underneath it all, he was the best friend anyone could ever hope for," she explained. "Hmm. Where'd that get him?" he asked sarcastically. "Dead. And my loyalty to him almost got me dead, too," she said.
Damon poured her a drink before replying, "To friendship." They both take a swig of their drinks. "You're right to fight it... the way you feel about her," Rose says quietly. "And why is that?" he asks her. "Because if we want to survive, we need to not care about anyone," she explains as she walks away. "Caring gets you dead, huh?" Damon says quietly. "It might just be time to turn the switch off on your emotions," she whispered sadly.
He stayed quiet for a few seconds before turning to face her. "I will if you will," Damon tells her. He watches as Rose sets her drink down before looking back at him. She stands up and walks over to him with her brows furrowed. "Damon your nose is bleeding..." she whispers. Damon suddenly collapses to the floor and everything goes pitch black.

*Elizabeth's POV*
"Meredith, please come here!" I yelled for my daughter. When she didn't reply I got worried. "Mere?" I yell once more. I walk out of our house looking around outside. "Nik? Meredith?" I looked around for my child and husband. It was dark out and I heard Nik screaming. I sped to the screams to see him tied up, Elijah and Mikael keeping him tied to the cross. "What are you doing?!?" I scream at them. I went to speed over to help him, but my body wouldn't move. I look over to see Esther chanting a spell. I turn to Elijah, "What are you doing?!" I repeat myself. He looks at me with a heartbroken look before turning away from me. I feel pain spread throughout my body, it feels like I'm on fire. I try to do magic but it's no use. I look up at Nik to see his head turned to the side looking at something with tears streaming down his face. I follow his gaze to see the coven holding our daughter.
"Meredith! What are you doing with my daughter Esther?!" I yelled at her. "Simple. She's an abomination that the witches are going to take care of." She said blankly. "Your own grandchild? You would harm your granddaughter!" I scream. She laughs maliciously, "Oh, I'm not going to harm her. The coven probably will though."
I looked into my daughter's eyes, they were filled with tears. She looked absolutely terrified, it was breaking my heart. I couldn't do anything but stand there and watch. I watched as the coven leader held a blade to Meredith's throat. "No! Don't hurt her!" I scream out at the witches. I heard Nik screaming his protests. All I could focus on was my daughter.
The lady slit Meredith's throat and I cried out as I watched my daughter's body fall. My heart shattered, and I felt the rage boil in my blood. The coven walks away, leaving her body on the ground. I was finally able to speed over to her, I kneeled down and picked up her lifeless body. "My baby, my sweet girl. They will pay for this I swear," I cried into her head.

*3rd POV*
When Damon came to Rose was sitting next to him and he was laying on the floor. "What happened?" Damon groaned as he sat up. "You passed out. You started screaming," Rose told him. He looked up at her and was about to say something before Rose's phone starts ringing. Damon handed it to her and she answered it.
"Hello," Rose says. "Rose?" The person on the other end of the call asks. "Slater. Are you okay?" She asks him. "Yes. I-- I took off. I'm sorry. I was friggin' freaked," he responds. "No. I'm sorry to involve you," she tells him. "Look, I want no part in any of this, but I did some digging," he pauses, and Damon gestures to Rose for him to continue.
"Ok. What did you find?" She asks him. "You can destroy the curse, but you need the moonstone. And you need to wake up Elizabeth," he says to Rose. "How? What do you mean? I don't follow," she says in a confused voice. "Well, can your friend get the moonstone? You need it," he tells her. She looks at Damon questioningly and he nods his head at her. "Yes. He can get it. What next?" She asks. "We need a witch. G-get the moonstone. A witch should be able to figure out the rest. Good luck, Rose," he says as the other end cuts off.
