"Thar she lay lad, a true sight to behold," announced Captain Dorvado.
"Are you sure we're going to find it here?,"questioned Gale.
"Our last excursion on the Jade Sands was a failure and not to mention we lost a shit ton of money."
"Ah , always so serious aren't ye?," grunted the Captain as he gave Gale a hearty whack on the back of his head.
"Shit that hurt Captain," scowled Gale while giving Dorvado his infamous stare of frustration.
"You'll get used to it, boyo," chuckled Dorvado as he ruffled Gale's fluffy hair.
Gale couldn't help but smile to himself as he thought, "Maybe this won't be as bad as I thought it would."
Meanwhile the Captain had turned around and called out,"Oi First Mate, I need your assistance
"Aye Aye Captain," replied the First Mate, Ige from the crow's nest.
The Captain turned back around too face Gale and gave him a small smile before walking over to the mast to talk to Ige.
Unknownst to Gale, Thaddeus had shown up behind him. She decided to give the boy a hearty slap just like the Captain to the back of his head before saying,"Rest now, dear Gale, for once we arrive, sleep may elude you. Let the gentle sway of the waves lull you into dreams, for tomorrow the hustle and bustle of our destination shall consume you,"
"What is it with you idiots and slapping?," grumbled the boy as he winced.
"Well are thou going to let your weary eyes surrender to sweet slumber's call?," Thaddeus demanded in a rather aggressive tone.
"I'm going I'm going you damn poet," chided Gale.
It would take around three more hours to reach the bustling city, Canibal. The city was situated on the east side of the Regorou Island and was surrounded by a 500 foot tall Durastone wall with a Sayk Ore drawbridge situated at its front. In the center of the city was a castle where the rulers of the islands lived and was the stronghold for the containment of many cursed artifcats. The castle was a magnificent structure, towering over the surrounding buildings with its tall turrets and grand arches. Many claimed that the city had all the supplies one could ever need including rare and exotic items that could not be found anywhere else in the world. Canibal was known as the melting pot of the Regorou Island, with people visiting from all over the world to trade. The city was famous for its bustling markets, where one could find anything from the freshest fruits and vegetables to the most exquisite jewelry and rare artifacts. However, that wasn't the only reason the crew of the Crimson Rogue was going to the city. In fact, if anything, trading was all but a side goal of their mission. The true goal of this mission was to secure a mystical object known as the Chronos Eye as they were getting paid a hefty amount of money for it by a wealthy merchant named Caspian Quillen.
As Gale made his way down the narrow steps into the belly of the ship, a sense of foreboding gripped him, tugging at his senses like an invisible hand. Nevertheless, he pushed aside his unease and continued on until he reached the door of his and Domini's cabin. Once inside, he collapsed onto the lumpy mattress, feeling utterly drained from the day's exertions. As the vessel rocked with the rhythm of the waves, Gale's eyelids grew heavy, and he succumbed to a deep sleep.
"Wake up boyo; we've arrived," yelled the Captain from above.
This startled the poor boy and as he attempted to quickly sit up he managed to smack his head on the wooden frame of the bed above him.
"Damn it," groaned Gale as he clutched his forehead while writhing in pain.
"Hurry up Captain's pet," yelled Domini.
"I'm coming, hold on," screamed Gale in response as he managed to slowly get up again.
He then stumbled over to his wardrobe, where he grabbed his bronze chest plate and quickly pulled it over his head, feeling the cool metal against his skin. He fastened the straps, making sure that it fit snugly around his ribs and adjusted the hood attached to it. Next, he pulled on a pair of baggy trousers, his favorite pair of worn cavalier boots given to him by none other than the captain himself, and a leather bracelet on his forearm.
Gale almost sprinted out of the cabin to meet the rest of the crew when he remembered something. His weapons.
"Shit.Shit.Shit," muttered Gale underneath his breath as he looked for his sword version of the haladie and both of his flying guillotines.
"You damn bilge rat hurry up," shouted Domini from the deck in an attempt to frustrate the boy.
"Shut the hell up,I already told you I'm coming you bastard," screamed Gale.
He knew Domini liked to piss everyone off to a certain extent but he seemed to particularly enjoy pissing him off way too much for his liking.
After a couple of minutes of rummaging around his cabin, he managed to find all three of his weapons along with his Goba belt. He then secured his haladie in the scabbard on his back and the flying guillotines on his belt along with the eight guns that were already there.
Once he had secured his weapons, he raced out the door to meet the rest of the crew on the rosewood deck.
"Finally, someone showed up," Domini sarcastically stated.
"Look here yo-," scowled Gale before getting interrupted by Rhea who said, "Domini you need to cut the kid some slack; when you were his age you were swabbing the decks of the Revengeance in fear of everything to ever damn exist."
This caused Domini to snarl, but he remained silent.
"As for you kid, don't let Domini get on your nerves,"
"He tends to enjoy riling people up for some pathetic reason."
He silently nodded in agreement with the look of anger still etched into his face.
After their argument was cut short by Rhea, Gale turned to face the open sea.
As the Crimson Rogue drew closer to the island, Gale leaned over the railing, eagerly taking in the sight before him. The island rose up from the sea, its lush green forests visible from miles away. Waves crashed against the rocky shoreline, sending sprays of saltwater into the air.As they approached, they could see that the island was much larger than they had anticipated, with towering cliffs rising up in the distance. The sound of rushing water filled the air as a waterfall cascaded down one of the cliffs, disappearing into a hidden lagoon below.Once they drew even closer, they could see the sandy beaches that encircled the island, beckoning them to come ashore. The beach was dotted with palm trees and other exotic plants, swaying gently in the warm ocean breeze.Off in the distance, they could see the bright lights shining from the bustling city nestled in the heart of the island. It was a place of trade for many sea travelers ,but for the Crimson Rouge it was the place of their next mission or rather their next heist.
As they got closer the sheltered cove they were planning to dock at came into view. Once it clearly came into view, the crew worked quickly to drop the anchor and secure the vessel to the shore. The sound of the waves crashing against the hull echoed through the bay as the ship settled into its moorings.
Once the ship was safely anchored, the pirates donned their gear and made their way ashore.
As Gale stepped onto the shore his jaw dropped in amazement as he took in the beauty of the Rengorou Islands.
"I read about this place before, but getting to see it in person is something I never thought would happen," muttered Gale excitingly underneath his breath.
"Ah so you too have read of the wonders of this place?," asked Ige from behind.
The sudden voice from behind him startled the boy caused Glen to stumble and fall face-first onto the sandy beach. The boy cursed as he spit out the grit that had somehow managed to get into his mouth. As he struggled to get up, he felt a hand on his arm and heard a gentle voice say, "Gotta watch your step there, Glen."
He looked up to see Ige, the first mate, offering him a hand up. "Thank you," he croaked, still trying to clear his throat.
Ige chuckled in response. "No problem, Glen. I'm happy to help a fellow crew member."
Glen looked up at her, still feeling a bit disoriented from his fall. "Why can't the some of the other crew members be as nice as you?" he asked, his voice tinged with frustration.
Ige laughed again, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "Well, maybe they're just trying to maintain their tough pirate image. But deep down, I know they have a heart of gold, just like you and me. We just need to bring it out of them with some good old-fashioned pirate camaraderie!"
Glen chuckled at her words, feeling a bit better now that he was back on his feet. "Sure thing," he said, nodding in agreement as he began to make his way further into the island.
As he walked away from Ige, he muttered to himself, "It's going to take a lot more than some fucking pirate camaraderie to get through to some of these shitty crew members." But despite his doubts, he couldn't help feeling a small glimmer of hope that maybe, just maybe, Ige was right after all.
