This is a really weird one, but I loved war music. I feel like it hits the checklist for the things I want it to hit:
-good, meaningful lyrics253Please respect copyright.PENANAljlScYGOFv
-great tune and catchy
-good beat
-hits hard
The whole point of war music is that its meant to be motivating and singible for the masses. There isn't some crazy instrumental solo if your in an army tent waiting for your next orders. Its meant to bond people, and I always felt it does so really well. They also have awesome, meaningful lyrics. Sometimes its a diss at another country, or a really elaborate and funny joke. They don't have to all be "I love my country lalalala". It also(in a weird way) brings you to the event which it came from. It brings you to the mind of these soldiers, what they went through, what they wanted, what they had in common, etc. It binds you with the past to think that you're enjoying the same song a soldier did(without being subject to the same things they were). They're also in any language and from any area of the world and its always cool to see what foreign music is really like and what people from other countries sing. This is kind of random, but its also cool to see what words rhyme in another language compared to your mother tongue and what they can rhyme about. If anyone is actually interested in history, folk music or war music is something I would recommend looking into. Even if its just to find a surprisingly good song that happens to be a war song.253Please respect copyright.PENANAu9FAmSyEpd
Another thing about them is that they evolve. They're practically perfected to be the best lyrics and catchiest tune. As they spread around battlefields throughout the days the soldiers who sing them add on good parts or discard bad ones. They find the most motivating lyrics and obviously won't sing a song that doesn't stick in their head. When they triumph or fail, they'll sing that song for motivation. Those who follow them and believe in their message will stick to those songs as well, and as events change so will the song lyrics so that they remain up to date(of course this really only goes for wars in the past. Their music has fully evolved, but in a modern conflict the music might not be as catchy or good)
And anti-war music is also pretty good. The lyrics are deep and meaningful, evoking a really depressing feeling. They really hit hard. They make you think and wonder and try to comprehend what people went through back in the day, and obviously can bring gratitude towards how your life is.
Lets compare it to some more modern music. The lyrics are usually trash, making very little sense besides some broad theme (about love or drugs or something), the tune is good but not particularly awesome, and the solo instrumentals are hours long.
Anyway, if you want to find good music I reccomend looking at Ingen, they post historical war music no matter how obscure it is.253Please respect copyright.PENANAyMvGWc2FnN
