Every time Winter wanted to cuddle, but another part of her didn’t trust Cameron.
“Why are you just standing there?” Cameron questioned to Winter as she stood next to the bed. “Go to your room, okay? It’s not like it’s miles away, silly.”
She looked at the floor, rubbing her arm almost uncomfortably.
“What?” he said, tipping his head to the side. “What is it, Evans?”
She was silent.
He smirked then, propping himself up on the bed with an elbow. “You want to cuddle, don’t you?”
Her cheeks reddened, answering his question.
“Well, come on then,” he urged, pulling up the covers. “What are you waiting for?”
She gave him a curious look. “Why did you just have an English accent?”
He chuckled under his breath. “You can’t just stand there all night.”
“I can,” she answered, tipping her chin up.
He looked her over. “I won’t let you.”
She huffed out a breath.
“Come on,” he urged, nodding to the open sheets. “Don’t be shy.”
She still didn’t move.
“Winter,” he warned softly, “come on, Sweetheart.”
Her neck slightly flushed.
“Are you embarrassed?” he quizzed. “You do know we’ve done this like what… twice before?”
“It doesn’t change the fact that….” Her voice trailed off.
“You’re craving it more?” he finished, making her glare at him.
“That wasn’t what I said.”
“It’s what you thought,” he responded slyly. “Now come on, before I drag you. And I’ll be mean about it.”
She sighed in defeat, but crawled in beside him, making his lips tilt higher when she lied down, hands under her cheek as she glared at his chest like an angry child.
“Hold on…” he said then. “Why the hell are you wearing a parka? It’s not even winter.”
She wrapped her arms around herself, Cameron hearing the fabric squeak at the movement. “I’m cold.”
He exhaled slowly. “Come on, take it off. We both know you won’t sleep in that.”
“It’s puffy…” she argued, squeezing the sleeves. “See? It’s like sleeping in clouds.”
He gave her a look.
She sighed heavily, sitting up and pulling her arms through the sleeves. “Fine. Just don’t laugh, okay?”
“Why would I laugh?” he questioned.
She slid off the jacket and threw it to the ground, revealing a dark black T-shirt under it.
“Why are you wearing my T-shirt?” he quizzed.
She shook her head. “I said ‘don’t laugh.’”
“I’m not laughing,” he answered, brows raised, “I’m questioning.”
She shook her head again, plopping down beside him while she hugged herself. “Let’s just go to sleep, okay?”
He drew the covers over her then, watching her eyes glaze as the fabric brushed against her arms.
“You do know the terms of ‘cuddling,’” he said, “right?”
She gazed up at him.
“‘Cuddle,’” he defined, “as in ‘a single person hugs another person while they fall asleep in their arms kind of thing.”
“I know,” she whispered, suddenly sounding exhausted.
“So why art thou hugging thyself?” he replied. “I’m supposed to hug you, you know.”
“And I’m waiting, William Shakespeare,” she responded. “So why don’t you shut up and hug me, okay?”
“Wow,” he commented, listening anyway, “demands—demands. When are you going to say ‘please?’”
“Maybe when you stop being an annoying asshole, Kay?”
He exhaled a chuckle. “Start being nice to me or I’ll start tickling you.”
“Noooooo,” she whined, shifting further into him. “Please, don’t.”
“Then what do you say?” he pressed.
“Thank you…” she whispered, making him smile. “I’m comfy.”
“You’re welcome, Snowflake,” he said back. “Now go to sleep, okay?”
“Don’t wake me up at three in the morning,” she said randomly.
“Why?” he questioned.
“I’m tired,” she answered. “And I picked a random time that I considered early, but that’s not the point.”
“Then what is the point?”
“Keep me asleep all night,” she murmured, making him look down to see her lashes slightly parted. “I know you can. Promise?”
Wow… this much trust… already?
Just a minute ago she couldn’t get in with him, she planned on standing there all night.
He nodded in her hair. “Promise. Now go to sleep.”
She relaxed in his arms then, a small smile curving her lips when her lashes shut, making one form on his, as well.
