Exit through the gift shop is an amazing book written by Maryam Master. Exit through the gift shop is a book about a girl who has been diagnosed with cancer, going through chemotherapy. Her best friend, Al, finds ways to cheer her up. It’s a devastating story told through the eyes of twelve year old Ana who faces her terminal cancer head on through every single page. As if this wasn’t enough, she also needs to deal with her parents getting new partners and coping with bullying at school. Ana sees her exit from the world as a gift shop as when we exit a zoo, for example, there is usually a gift shop.
I read this a while ago and I still think about how devastating and happy this book is. I love the way it concludes, though I may have cried a little.
overall I rate this book four out of five stars, I love the plot though I am not a big fan of the writing style.
