I am Mia, and I reside in the town of Yanjung, a place brimming with beautiful flowers, especially roses, which happen to be my favorites. I must admit; I'm quite the hopeless romantic.
In Yanjung, there's an elderly statue known as Lonely June. June represents an old woman who wished to be acknowledged but never was, serving as a reminder for all Yanjung residents to connect with each other. After all, as social creatures, constant social interaction is key to our happiness. We must come together to stay happy.
I've always found statues a bit eerie, even the larger ones, and my friend Maddie never lets me forget it. But despite my discomfort, I've always been curious about the Lonely June statue and its meaning. I approach it, admiring its 12-foot stature, though it still creeps me out. The aged marks and dimples on its face, along with its crystal blue eyes, gaze down at me. I read the message on its hand: "Community Joins Together." A wonderful message to share with the community, encouraging us to unite and look out for each other.
As I stare at its face, I find myself getting a bit freaked out. I reassure myself, "Calm down, Mia, it's okay, it's fine."
Then suddenly, "Ahh! Ahh! Ahh!" I panic as the statue moves its arms, leaving me bewildered. My mind races, statues aren't supposed to move; they're lifeless objects.
I scream for help as it grabs me, desperately seeking assistance. "Help me... help me!"
A man nearby, who has noticed the statue's surprising mobility and strength, rushes to my aid. He remains confused and shouts at the statue, "Surely you can move, but you can't talk. You can't talk!"
Lonely June, the old woman statue, moves her arms and grabs the man's shoulders. I'm powerless, watching in fear. I tell myself I must do something.
As I muster the strength to kick the old woman in the knees, she retaliates with a force that feels like a giraffe kicking a lion. I groan from the impact, still in shock over the animated statue. I'm left utterly speechless, fearing for my life.
But then, a surprise. Lonely June groans. She can make sounds; she can probably talk. She drops the man to the ground. Suddenly, I hear a gunshot aimed at Lonely June's knees, and I watch the statue fall and shatter into pieces, her moans of death following the destruction.
Both the man and I are left speechless, and I think to myself, "What in the world..."
