Today, it's time to apply for jobs. I catch the bus and head downtown, approaching a local warehouse for a job opportunity. As I enter the facility, a man, who appears to be the boss, comes toward me. I can tell from his authoritative demeanor that he must be in charge.
I try to maintain enthusiasm and a touch of humor, saying, "Hello there, sir. I was wondering if you're hiring." Although I'm a bit socially awkward, I quickly realize he's unimpressed. I start to freak out but manage to calm myself down when he suggests we speak in his office.
In his office, he surprises me by offering me the job right away. I'm in shock; Boss Harry, as I call him, hired me on the spot. I'm overwhelmed with gratitude and express my thanks.
As I make my way to the warehouse floor, he hands me the necessary safety gear. The work mainly involves conveyor belts, and it might be boring, but I'm determined to do my best.
However, something goes terribly wrong. I hear the workers screaming, and the conveyor belt malfunctions. Boss Harry and everyone else panic, with the boss screaming for everyone to get out.
I worry and run for safety, watching the conveyor belt collapse, causing a loud bang and shattering glass everywhere. Boss Harry, visibly concerned, believes everyone is accounted for, but then a man cries out in fear.
I've never heard a grown man scream like that. My empathy compels me to help him, despite Boss Harry's warnings. I head toward the man's cries, and Boss Harry yells for me to stop. However, I can't ignore the man's distress, and I shout back that someone is trapped.
Boss Harry doesn't listen and threatens to fire me on my first day, highlighting that it's not a good start to my employment history. However, I make a decision to use my unique ability to turn invisible and rescue the man.
When I arrive, the man is astonished by my ability. I offer my hand, but he can't move. His legs are trapped beneath the heavy boxes that fell. He pleads for me to leave him.
I decide to lift him and become invisible, quickly escaping from the wreckage. I set the man down safely, and he introduces himself as Jin, thanking me profusely.
I smile at Jin and my achievement, and as I glance at Boss Harry and my coworkers, they're in disbelief over what they've witnessed.
