Once, in 5th grade, we had to make these little videos on an app and the teacher would play them in front of the class, on the electronic whiteboard. I was checking out the features before I posted mine, and saw that there was a lesbian flag icon that you could put on your screen. I knew I was lesbian at the time, so I put it in just for shits and giggles. But then, I sent it without realizing and it played in front of the entire class. Everyone (including the teacher) just went silent and stared at me. There were whispers and laughs. I - being the idiot that I was - decided to stand up and yell: “So what? You expect me to actually like any of those gorilla specimen you call men?”. HORRIBLE IDEA. The stares intensified. At lunch, some 6th grader (male) walked up to me and was like: “ohh I heard you were a lesbian.”. How the hell did he hear that? He was in a higher year than me! Anyway, I kind of stuttered a bit since I was confused and then I answered: “yeah, why?” And he laughed and said “Lol you look kinda like a lesbian”. And I just said: “well so do you.”. Once again, HORRIBLE IDEA. I’ll spare you the gruesome details that took place after that conversation.
