"BINA RUN!" Her father's voice bounced off the walls of the new crater she had just created, causing dozens of passersby to flock slowly and unsurely to the devastation. Immediately, those who assumed an Ether-using youth was the cause quickly whipped out their phones to call the tip hotline, each one as desperate as the next to do anything to get out of the slums.

Bina made it to the top of the crater, crawling free. She turned Immediately to help her father out of it but found he had been climbing the opposite side. The crowd was mostly on his side, and those whispering into holes or communicators were a telltale sign that soon enforcers would arrive and his daughter Bina would be hunted. Youth with this much power would be considered a gold mine for research and military advancements. He turned to see his daughter watching him calm and collected, waiting for the next plan or idea. She searched her father's eyes for what to do, and as the realization hit, her heart fell to her stomach, but before she could protest, he ignited.

Flames engulfed him and bent to his will, startling all the onlookers to their core. "An Adult Male Ether User!?" One man said, tumbling in surprise, scrambling to back away from the new heat source. "RUN!" He screamed, the flames roaring with the intensity of his voice. Screams of terror echoed through the slums as people scattered away. "RUN AND DON'T LOOK BACK!" He cried as even those hiding in their nearby shacks began to flee. The sound of engines above closing in meant the pursuers were close. Bina still sat at the crater's edge, watching her father hurl flames into the sky, intimidating any who may have lingered. He looked over his shoulder to see Bina still standing there waiting. The sound of the drop ship above filled the area as heavy spotlights focused on the flaming man.

"BINA! They won't kill you if they catch you alive... Please!" Her father's words struggled out through tears that faded away into the heat as soon as they escaped his eyes. Bina froze. If she had left her father now, she'd be alone. They had lost Mother to the raids not too long ago and hadn't stopped moving since they had nothing but each other, and now she was going to be left truly with nothing.

"As long as you have the flames, you have us, my little spark." Her father said before turning to face the enforcers being airdropped in.

"DISENGAGE WITH THE ETHER AND LIE FLAT ON THE GROUND!" A helmeted soldier demanded, holding a weapon and charging itself with electricity.

"GO!" Bina's father yelled, raising the temp and size of his flames, causing some enforcers to shrink.

"DISENGAGE IMMEDIATELY!" The commanding officer barked, not shrinking from the flames but slowly etching closer. "NEW ORDERS: Take in hostile alive." Slipped through a receiver attached to the enforcer's helmet. Hearing this, Bina's father takes advantage by blasting two enforcers with enough condensed flame to melt one's helmet completely and burn through the armor of another. The Commander's instincts kick in, and he fires his rifle. Instead of a bullet, an arch of lighting passes through the hostile arm, blowing it away. Bina watches as her father's arm implodes. She can feel the flames welling up inside her. Her father, sensing the same, drops to his knees and seemingly releases the Ether. The Commander demands another Enforcer to watch the hostile as he checks on his two downed men.

The melted helmet clung to his subordinates' heads, the shape becoming tight as it was superheated. They were dead, while a nearby enforcer put out the other with severe Ether burns to the chest. The images relayed back to the HQ, and new orders were sent over the airwaves: "Kill the leader of the Crimson mountain, Egan of the Endless." The commander, leaving the medics to do their job, makes his way over to Egan.

"Egan of the Crimson Mountains, son of the endless flame... You and your people have murdered thousands of my men." The commander's voice was filled with hate, pain, and regret.

"I'm sorry, Commander. Did my family leave its Mountains and come to your home and kill everyone you knew? Did they take your wife from you and threaten everything you love for power?" Egan asked, his eyes meeting the cold visor of the solder.

"If you people weren't so dangerous, we wouldn't have to put you in your place!" The Commander barked, anger filling his tone. Egan laughed at his words almost hysterically.

"It must be fun seeing life through that visor only. We were only dangerous if not left alone, and the only danger we posed was to your country's pride, and anything else falls to its insatiable Greed." Egan's words held the Commander for a moment. He dropped his weapon and removed his helmet. His face had been kissed by the flame. Ether scars ran across chin to cheek.

"You're right, Egan. I've watched brothers and sisters, Mothers and children die, and all I can do is hope one of us is on the right side... but a bright side to all this, you're the last one." He raises his gun to Egan's head and begins the slow charge. Egan closes his eyes, accepting his fate.

"NO!" Bina cried out, alerting the enforcers to her presence. The commander stopped his eyes, analyzing the little girl's face before looking at Egan.

"Who is that..." The enforcer asks, grimness gripping his tone.

"No one, you have the last of the Crimson Mountain right here! Do it!" Another Enforcer, using their visor, scans the girl's face, revealing she is in no database. Before the commander can stop him, he relays that information over the open coms, sending in new orders over all the helmets. "Kill the last of the Crimson Mountain." The commander's eyes shut tightly, and when they open, duty replaced all light.

"Please... you have me. I'm all that matters. Leave her!" Egan pleads, but it is disregarded. The commander lifts the rifle and aims it at Brina's chest. The gun begins to charge.

"Yeah... I guess we don't." As Egan said this, a light began escaping his chest so bright it blinded the Commander, causing the shot to graze Brina's head, briging her crashing to the dirt. The light grew and grew engulfing all around as it reached Brina. She felt her father's warmth wrap around her as her vision went white and her consciousness faded. She could hear her father's voice: "Become the guiding light and embrace the flame, my little spark.".
