Alright, since I mentioned it in the last part, let's get this one out of the way. I see this one almost more than "said is dead" and, while it can be right some times, 99% of the time it's not. Usually when I see this one, it's accompanied by "Instead of this, use this" much like with said. However, what makes this terrible advice are the examples given.
For instance..."said softly" is one that people believe should be replaced with "whispered." However, while it could be, they seem to believe this is the only other way to say it, but it's not. I find it appropriate to use when a character could be reassuring another in a calming tone like a parent and child or maybe as a lover. Softly does not always denote volume even though it could, but you'd probably already be using "whispered" or "murmured" or something of the like.
Again, this is one of the bad advice bits that I can admit could be useful, but it's the way it's given that makes it bad since connotation exists and people don't seem to bother. Just make sure you can tell the difference for yourself.
