My name is Maira Music. I am invited to do a competition. If I win I get 50,000 dollars that I can use for college. I’m excited to be invited, I’ve always wanted to go to college. But I didn’t want the crippling debt that came with it. I’m going to major in programming. I've lived with my mother for all of my life, so it will be nice to be able to spread my wings and be on my own going to college. I'm not close with my mom, we argue a lot. She has been very verbally abusive ever since my dad died in the car accident that happened when I was only a kid. I put on my clothes and I put my long dyed hair into a bun. My mom was very upset when I dyed my hair. I chose to dye it purple and my mother threw a fit. I told her that I'm an adult and allowed to do what I want. She didn't like that answer. As I was getting ready I looked at my Brown eyes and remembered that my mom hated anything that I did, whether it was trying to express myself or wearing contacts to see properly. I looked in the bathroom cabinet and my eye contacts weren't there. I then walked into the living room to see my mother sitting on the couch watching television. 145Please respect copyright.PENANAB1QXQBuQw6
"What happened to my eye contacts?" I asked.
"I threw them away. You don't need them. Just wear glasses like everyone else." She said not even looking up from the TV. I walked away angrily and closed the door behind me. The house was very old. It looked ancient, there were pictures of my dad on the walls, and the smell of cigarettes in the air. I'm going to miss the house. I miss Dad too. He died in a car accident when I was only fourteen. I was only a kid. I remember the day like it was yesterday. We were driving a little black car, I don't know anything about cars. All I know is that it was a small car. My mom drove the car to pick up my dad from a bar and he insisted on driving even though he was drunk. Then all of a sudden we were going ninety miles per hour. He took a left, swerved then he took a right into a tree. Me and my mom survived but my dad wasn't so lucky. I brushed my teeth and I put on cologne. It was the one my dad would use. He would always smell like cinnamon rolls. My mom always liked the smell, she always smelled like cigarettes. I went into my room grabbed a pair of shoes and put them on. My room was very different from the other parts of the house. It was bright and colorful in purple, black, and pink. I then walked into the living room where my mother was still sitting.
"I'm ready to go," I said happily. I'm extremely excited to be on my own.
"Not when you are dressed like that. I didn't raise a slut." She scoffed when she looked at me.
"Mom, I'm wearing a tank top. I'm not dressing like a slut." I rolled my eyes. She always has to start an argument about something. My mom then got up angrily off of the couch.
"I don't care, you are going out like that for attention." She grabbed the car keys aggressively.
"Mom it's my body I can dress the way I want," I said calmly. She rolled her eyes and started walking outside to the car. I followed her and noticed that it was still dark outside even though it was bright and early in the morning. We drove for about an hour in silence. I had my headphones so I wasn't complaining. Before we got into the car I grabbed them out of my bag that I kept in the trunk of the car, I packed my bag to go to the competition last night and decided to put it in the car so I wouldn't be late in the morning. We then made it to our stop. I got out of the car.
"Bye, sweetie." She said while I opened the trunk and got my bag out of the car.
"Bye, Mom," I said happily as she drove off. I'm glad I don't have to put up with her for a while. It's nice to get a break sometimes. I looked behind me and I saw a huge building surrounded by a Forest. It was strange that it's in the middle of nowhere but I don't think it's a red flag. I then started walking to the building. Then all of a sudden everything went black as I stepped foot on the premises
