But I don't know if I can.

Be a girl, they say

That's what you call yourself

Be a girl, they say

They cast my mind to hell.

Be an it, they say,

That is who you are

Be an it, they say,

They're beating down my heart.

Be non-binary, they say

And we will call you they

Be non-binary, they say

But I change from day to day.

Be a girl, a boy, an it, I say

Be who you truly are

Be a girl, a boy, a they

And then you will get far.

You are not what you eat, nor what you speak, or wear, or say

'Cause who you are is deep within you, it's always been that way.
