It was four in the afternoon when he heard a knock at the door. Inside of his body his stomach leapt as he realized who it was. It was Allison, a woman of shoulder length red hair, hazel eyes, and an average figure. She was two years younger than his twenty-seven and she was very easy on the eyes. There was just one problem.
“Justin,” she lovingly called from the other side of the door. Justin shook his head and ran his large hands through his blonde hair. He had agreed to go out to a dinner date with her the other day against the advice of one of his friends. Since then his soul had been vexed unto death with texts, late night calls, and endless professions of love and comfort. Sleeping with her was one of the biggest mistakes he had made and he wished that he could change everything.
Justin opened the door and in rushed Allison, embracing him in a hug so tight he could his ribs would cave in. Upon release, she gazed at him with eyes wide open. He felt as if she were gazing into his very soul.
“Darling, are you ready to go?”
“Allison, I thought we were supposed to meet at Wendy’s in an hour.”
“Yeah but I thought it romantic if we went together,” she said. And then he tone changed into an eerie, ghastly demeanor. “Are you embarrassed to be seen in public with your girlfriend?”
“Yes, and I don’t recall asking you to be my girlfriend.” Justin thought to himself. “No it’s just I’m not ready yet!”
“No problem baby, I’ll wait out here. Oh and don’t worry about the iPad you wanted. I just bought for you.”
Justin glared at her.
“Um…how did you know I wanted an iPad?”
“I read your text from your friend the day we slept together. So I got it with my paycheck. I was going to bring to your class on Friday but I thought why not now. Yeah, I’ve already completely memorized your schedule when I came to check up on you yesterday. You didn’t know that did you?”
If Justin wasn’t creeped out before, he was now. Any interest he might have had left in the woman evaporated upon that statement. Perhaps now was the opportune time to cut his losses and send her on her way.
“Allison look, I think you’re a nice girl and all but I’m kinda getting creeped out here.”
“There’s no need for that baby. You and I will be special, ARE, special. Now get your sexy tail in the shower, I’ll wait out here.”
Reluctantly, Justin did as he was told. As he turned around he felt something smack fiercely against his behind. He looked back and caught sight of Allison smiling, her bright white teeth giving aid to the joyful yet sinister smile she wore upon her face. When he heard her enter the living room from the bathroom, he thought of plans to ditch her as he entered the shower.
When he finished his bathing, he dried himself. Looking over his face in the mirror, he wiped off some cream he had missed while shaving, then he stepped out. He was greeted by the sight of Allison wearing a sad feature about her. He shook his head, wondering what new had arisen.
“What is it Allison?”
“You like her don’t you?”
“What, like who?” then it dawned on him that he left his phone in the living room. He should have known better than to do that. And he mentally kicked himself for doing it.
“Charlotte. I saw the texts you’ve been sending her…”
Justin felt the color drain from his face and was about to say something about Allison was quicker. She took hold of Justin’s hands and gripped them tightly as she brought them up to her chin.
“What makes her so much better than me? Does she kiss better, is she better in bed, does she take you out like I’m about to?!”
“What no what is about!? We’re not even dating!”
“You’re not? Then why is she texting you?”
“Oh my God Allison she and I are just friends and have been that way for five years! Besides she’s dating another one of my buddies!”
“Now I know you’re just saying that.”
Justin was now growing angrier but he didn’t want to show it. In his mind, the quicker he got this done, the quicker he could send her on her way. Besides if she was offering to pay why refuse the offer?
“Okay look, if we’re going to go let’s go, I’m getting hungry.”
“Whatever you say darling,” she said as she reached up to caress his cheek. Justin pulled away and took his phone from her grip. Allison took hold of Justin’s arm and the two were off to eat.
The pair pulled into the parking lot of Applebee’s twenty minutes after they had left Justin’s apartment. Justin had put his phone on vibrate so that the nosy woman known as Allison would not nag him as to whom he was communicating with. Why did I sleep with this girl?
“I thought we were eating at Wendy’s?” Justin said. Allison glanced at him with her trademark smile.
“Justin I wanted to make up for what happened at your place. I know why you were getting angry and I should not have intruded on your privacy like that. I’ll pay for all of your expenses.”
“You had no problem invading my privacy a moment ago. You were looking at who I was talking to rather than paying attention to the road!”
“But we made it here safely did we not? Come on sugar bear, let’s go eat.”
Knowing that saying another word would prove fruitless, Justin stepped out of the car and the two walked inside the restaurant. They sat down next to each other at the insistence of Allison. A female waitress approaches the two, smiling as was the policy of most dine-ins.
“May I take your order?” she says. Justin mutters one word and instantly Allison takes charge, talking over Justin and effectively silencing him.
“He will have the New York Strip steak with garlic potatoes and I will have the same.”
“That was not what I wanted,” Justin murmured harshly. Allison ignored him and confirmed the order. Then waitress then left the two at the table to have their orders prepared. Allison placed a hand on her beloved’s own.
“Just let me take care of everything baby, I know what you want and what you like.”
“Allison,” Justin began. “It’s only been two days and you don’t know a thing about me. How do you know I’m not a serial rapist or something?”
“Oh you aren’t like that at all. If you were believe me when I tell you, I’d make sure you couldn’t procreate.” She let herself laugh a laugh that chilled Justin to the bone. Even as she scooted closer to him he wanted nothing more than to get away from this woman.
When he heard the door open by way of a ringing bell, he looked back to see two of his friends enter the restaurant. It was his friend Charlotte and her boyfriend, a black man dressed in a large red hoodie and white khakis. Her hair was brown, long and curly. Around her body she wore a large tan winter coat complete with white boots to match the black pants she wore. Her boyfriend seemed content with what he wore but he was also clean shaven. Charlotte noticed Justin and the two walked over towards the pair much to Justin’s dismay.
“Justin how nice running into you here,” Charlotte said happily. Justin only waved once, too embarrassed by the fact that he was caught in public with the woman sitting by him. Charlotte found his behavior peculiar and thought that something was amiss, especially since Allison was firing dirty looks at her. “Justin are you alright?”
Allison now thought it was time to unleash her full salvo. She was thoroughly convinced that Charlotte, wanted two men for the price of one. She wouldn’t let that happen, not by a long shot.
“He’s doing alright Charlotte thank you for asking. Not to be mean but I’m sure you should worry about your own there.”
“Excuse me?” Charlotte said, confused by the accusation.
“What, chocolate’s no longer doing it for you?” Allison spat. Justin sat there speechless as she continued her attack. “Now you want my candy as well? I know who you are and what you want. You made your choice when you picked out the wrong merchandise you’ve got walking around with you, so keep yours and I’ll keep mine.”
Justin could feel the eyes of the restaurant watching them and he was struck dumb. His mouth was covered, head low and eyes wide. Charlotte, angered by the racial attack launched at her and her boyfriend, felt red overcome the white upon her face as she processed the situation about them. Her boyfriend did not say a word, too angered to even move his lips.
“Oh don’t worry you psychotic bitch!” Charlotte said stepping up to her. Allison gasped, horrified but Charlotte’s retort. She continued. “I’m very certain you won’t find any man who would want to screw around with your diseased ridden ass! Besides there’s nothing upstairs and downstairs is probably a famine!”
Allison was ready to smack Charlotte but Justin stopped her, knowing what would happen. He then approached Charlotte and her boyfriend after he rose from his seat.
“Get me out of here please! She’s crazy!” he pleaded. Allison, in her mind still could not understand why Justin had no interest in her. Perhaps if she…
“Justin you can’t leave now, we need to eat our food and besides, after the other night I might have a stowaway on board!”
“Fuck you!” Justin said, not believing any of her lies. “Lose my number, don’t come near me ever again!”

Yes, Justin should have listened to his friend and used his head. What was it he had said? He suddenly remembered.
“Time spent learning about your potential interest is never time wasted.”
He should have listened then. Instead he listened to the other citizens within his body. The citizens known as hormones, invaded his reasoning and saw him lust after the ginger at the party the other night. If all went well, he’d welcome his first child into the world in four month’s time. Until then, as long as she lived within his home, he would spend the majority of his time taking care of her. He had become attached and it was his fault. Allison cuddled next to him and gave him a smooch upon his cheek. Justin angrily wiped it off as he continued viewing his movie.
“I told you that you would love me,” Allison said happily.
