Try something based off of irl events, but twist it up as much as you can. Or use a dream as inspiration.
For example, my most recent completed story Not Your Ordinary War (published on the site) was inspired by a dream my friend had, wherein she was an assassin, working with some guy.
Or, a different story of the same universe, Not Your Ordinary Election (not published), was based off a rather strange conversation with a suspicious classmate, based off of a random science doubt. I twisted it up into a story about a class election... but there's more to it.
Or, don't twist up the irl experience. I was challenged by someone to write a poem about a shared experience we had, and I wrote it in their point of view.
