Today is the day I will finally conquer the levitation spell. The 15th time is the charm, well, I suppose because a witchling's 15th moon is when they become a full-grown witch. Besides that, I'm very confident today. The levitation spell is one of my many favorite spells in the book. The simple thought of being able to levitate things, let alone myself, was astonishing and mainly what got me to roll out of my cot beside the factor of Jadestorm licking my face. I walked to my drawers to tame my hair with a few strokes of my brush before getting dressed. I reach my wear room and look over my options. Looking around, I spot my favorite dress, with a long tail and short rise. It was perfect. I grab it off the stick and throw it on. I trace over the floral pattern and take a look in the mirror as Muder walks in. I turn and look for approval.
"Well, someone looks beautiful today," she exclaims with a hint of pride in her tone.
"Thank you, Muder, but I'm not too sure about the dress. Since I'll be doing the levitation spell and mastering, shouldn't I wear something that's not as loose?" I replied with uncertainty in my tone.
"I suppose that is true. Well, you did look beautiful in it. Our morning meal is ready whenever you, master your outfit choice, do join me." Muder walks out of my room with a smile and small giggle.
I start to slip the dress off, undoing the small corset like strings in the back. I let the dress slide down my chest and on the floor. Quickly picking the dress up, making sure not to get it to dirty. I walk over to my wear room and reevaluate my options while hanging the dress back on the stick. I skim over a few more formal options but changing my mind too quickly when I see my light wash colored overalls and the olive-green sweater that lay next to it on the stick. I drape the overalls over the chair near my desk. Sliding on the sweater where the soft olive-green cloth brushes against my sun-soaked skin, then accompany it with my overalls, that my small clanking sounds when the buttons touch. I turn to the mirror and start to braid my hair, humming a lullaby, Muder always sang. Finishing the braid, I lay a soft pat on Jadestorm to the head while picking up my spell bag and my hat. Both match my overalls. In return for my pat, Jadestorm gives an approving nod to my outfit with a soft purr to follow.
I smile and walk out of my room with the soft touch of my long brown braid bouncing on my back, along with the occasional clink of my spell bag. As I turn into the kitchen, I see Muder hovering over the letters that have piled up on the table from the last 2 hallows. Muder tosses a letter along to the already generous pile of letters.
"Oh, my dear, you will be getting a letter today. Just a heads up," Muder smiles and returns down to continue slicing and reading them.
"Ah, alright then. Do you know who from or anything in particular?" I asked with curiosity growing inside of me.
Muder does not answer, so I sit and reach for my porridge in the center of our circular table and pull it back in front of my chest. Grabbing the glass of milk in front of it, putting it at 1 o'clock. I dip my spoon into the soup like porridge to test if Muder had made it the way I like and, as always, she had. I pick up the spoon, lift it to my mouth, and repeat. I finish eating my morning meal and take my dishes to the sink to rinse them, taking longer than usual as I let the warm water run over my hands. The warmth of the water soothing me to a small slate of sleep. Realizing I'd been standing there, I walked back to the table and grabbed my spell bag.
"Alright, Muder, I'm off to the hall," I announced with pride while leaning down to give Muder her kiss.
"Very well then, my dear. I'll be here today I've taken the day to myself to organize this," Muder replies waving to the pile of letters that have consumed ⅔ of the table now, "Do be safe my love!" She adds as I walk out the door of our hut.
The walk to the hall was 15 Myles, which sounds like a lot to a new student, but I've walked it every day since I was 6 moons. So, 15 Myles is practically nothing to me. I walk alongside the dirt road as merchants start to open their shops and bargain with strangers on the street. I round the corner and nearly take a young witchling out. Stumbling back, I turned to apologize, but the boy had scurried off. Ignoring it, I continue my stroll to the hall, ignoring all the vendors and chatty merchants. Focusing only on getting to the Hall.
I reach the hall and grasp the door handle with a relieved sigh and swing the door open.
