Boren Carlos puffed at his cigarette as he rest his hand on the car door. He sat in the car resting his back on the chair. He removed his cigarette and let out smoke from his mouth.
The door opened and someone sat beside him.
“That cigarette is gonna kill you one day,” the person beside him said.
Boren sighed. “Now that is so harsh to hear from a friend. I don’t think you even like me, Jimmy.”
“Of course I like you and that is why I am telling you.” His friend ignited the car and turned on the radio.
“So you are gonna take me to work or what?” Boren asked.
“Of course and that’s why you are in my car now.”
“Don’t worry,” Boren said, throwing the stub away. “I will get my car soon.”
“Better make it sooner,” Jimmy said as he pulled the car onto the road.
Boren looked at him in disbelief. “Sending me out soon? I will note that.”
Jimmy laughed.
“ So you are going to offload when you get me to work?” Boren asked.
His friend shrugged. “Sure.”
“Say, why don’t you follow me to work and we will offload together, later,” Boren suggested.
Jimmy shook his head. “I don’t like your profession. I have told you always.”
He made a turn careful of the ducks that crossed the road.
“Why do you hate acting so much?” Boren asked.
“Since I was a child, I had and will always do. Watching films is a hard work for me,” the driver answered.
“Now I can’t help but believe it was because of an actor stole your mom from your dad,” His friend put in, grinning.
Jimmy hated to remember the situation. He wasn’t sure but that must have boosted his hate for films. He had always hated films anyway.
He shrugged and said nothing.
“Do you even have a job now?” Boren asked.
“Nope!” Jimmy said as he drove into a street.
“So what’s your job? You spending money, you know.”
“When I got insurance for my burnt big house, I bought a smaller one so the remaining money is what I spend,” Jimmy explained.
“But what if you run out money? It can’t last forever you know,” Boren said.
“When I reach that stage, I will think about it,” Jimmy repiled, nonchalantly.
“Seriously? Why don’t you want to return to your old job!”
Jimmy sighed. “I have said to not bring up that matter up again.”
“But…”
“ I said I’m done with it,” Jimmy said turning to himself. “And I am not going back.”
“If you say so.”
There was a moment of silence between them and they heard what the radio was saying. “ There was another massacre In A western town of Ukraine By The Hradecut. Hundreds of people were killed…” Jimmy turned off the radio swiftly.
“You running away from it, Jimmy? Just why?” Boren asked but Jimmy ignored Him. Silence reigned for the remaining drive and soon Jimmy
Was parking the car in front of the studio his friend worked; Wonder Studio. Boren got out and bent to look at Jimmy through the window. “Thanks for a wonderful ride and drive back safely.”
Jimmy only nodded and reversed the car before driving away.
“Incase you change your mind, I’m still available.” Then he walked in. Jimmy sped home, careful not to think about anything. Even when the thoughts try to force in, he quickly turn on the radio and changed the station.
His new house stood in a gentle neighbourhood of the town. It was a cottage with dark colours; marble stairs was before the red door and it had some shrubs around it. It also had a chimney. Jimmy parked in front of the house and got down. He went and opened the boot, took one of the carton that was in and climbed the stairs and opened the door. It was a warm welcome and Jimmy smiled at it. He hoped to enjoy himself for a long period of time, pushing away bad memories. He dropped the carton, dismissing the thought of getting a juice with another thought of getting it after the packing. He got out excitedly and his smile faded as soon as he looked forward.
“Long time no see Jimmy. Did you miss me?”

Penelope Roger and Neil Thompson smiled at him; they bear on their hands cartons from the boot of his car. They were a part of his life he wanted to forget and he hated that they came.
Neil was the first to speak up. “Thought we could help to unpack,” he offered.
“So how have you been faring?” Penelope asked.
Jimmy said nothing but followed his impulse. He climbed down the stairs to collect the carton but they won’t let him.
“We did it out of goodwill, Jimmy,” Penelope said. “ Won’t you at least let us in the house?”
Reluctantly and especially to avoid been rude although wondering why he cared, he let them in.
“Nice house,” Penelope commented, dropping the carton.
“Now what do you want?” Jimmy asked coldly.
“Just missed you Jim buddy,” Neil replied awkwardly. “It’s been long you stopped by, you know.”
“I will never again. Do me a favour,” Jimmy said. “Leave my house.”
“Waoh, hold on Jimmy. We just got in,” Penelope said. “Did you hear about the massacre?” Her voice was suddenly serious.
“I don’t care,” Jimmy repiled, pushing down his conscience.
“Approximately nine hundred people died, thirty were lost,” Penelope continued.
Jimmy turned to her. “Why are you telling me all this?”
“Every citizens should at least stay updated,” Penelope put in harmlessly. “And you are one, aren’t you?”
“Look, I know exactly the direction you are heading for,”Jimmy said. “But sorry to burst your bubble, I’m not going back. That part of me is gone.”
“But you heard it Jimmy, or have you suddenly become heartless?” Neil asked. “Because of what happened? This isn’t you, Jimmy.”
“Don’t bring that up now,” Jimmy warned.
“It’s all in the past now Jimmy. You got to forget about it and move on,” Penelope said.
“I said don’t bring that up!” He was suddenly angry which surprised them. He was rarely angry before. At least before the incident.
His eyes was glowing and they couldn’t predict his next move.
But he was suddenly calm. “Leave my house.”
Penelope raised an eyebrow at Neil and he walked out of the house. Penelope walked to him.
“You are not exclusive,” Jimmy pointed out.
“You can’t send me out like that, you know,” Penelope repiled and held his face between her hand.
“We have broken up years ago,” Jimmy said.
Penelope flashed a grin at him. “Don’t you know all ex have powers.” It was more of a statement than a question. “My once puppy.” She stared into his eyes. “Tell me you will follow us back.”
Jimmy had just started to protest (editing)
“Think about it again Jimmy and properly. And while you are thinking, take into consideration that the life and destiny of someone’s father or mother, brother or sister, children and family as a whole is in your hand.”
With this, she withdrew her hands and with a swift turn, walked out of the house.

It was a huge office. It had portraits hung all over it walls; there were also paper filled shelves. At the top of it was a desk with files stacked on it. The owner,Mr Roy paced the office for a while clenching his fists. After pacing for long, he sat expectantly in his office when Penelope and Neil walked in. He looked to see if anyone followed but was utterly disappointed.
“Bad news, Mr Roy. We were unsuccessful,” Neil broke the news.
“Seems he would be a hard nut to crack,” Mr Roy said. He had waited for long, silently praying for success.
“Don’t be so bothered,” Penelope put in. “I have talked some sense into him and I am sure he will ponder over it.”
“You think?” Mr Roy asked.
“ I was about to ask the same. You know it has been long you two broke up,” Neil said. “The glow in his eyes… I am afraid he might have changed.”
Penelope flashed a grin. “I know my boy.”
