one time when i was in my gym class

i saw one of my friends, she was staring out the glass

she held her arms close to her and i walked over

i knew she was struggling, i saw it on her

i look at her with empathy, all i wanted to do was hug her,

we all sat down and she wouldn’t stop,

she wouldn’t stop scratching at it,

i noticed and pulled her arm away,

that wasn’t the first time today

she laid her head on my shoulder

and i told her

‘it’s okay, i’m here’,

later that day i messaged her

i had to be her rock, her support,

i told her i loved her, that she deserves all the good in this world,

i told her

‘stop scratching it, give it a break, it deserves a chance to heal’

i then told her

‘you deserve a chance to heal’
