After walking for a few minutes, Dori stopped underneath a tree next to a lake.
“Alright, this may be surprising, but i live right here.” Dori said
Tom looked at the tree and noticed an unnatural knob with an interesting pattern.
Dori touched it slightly and it opened up the tree, revealing a ladder.
Dori smiled.
“C’mon, come in!” She chuckled.

The inside looked like some kind of cozy underground bar, but as a living room.
“Welcome to my humble abode.” Dori laughed
“Hey Dori” Tom heard a voice say.
“You’re finally-”
A very nicely clothed girl entered the living room.
“Damn Dori, never expected you to bring home a guy! Especially such a catch!” She said.
“No Lunox, it’s not like that, y’know-”
“Well, if you don’t want him…” Lunox said.
Tom was silenced by this girl’s forwardness, but then his witty personality came back and he said, “Y’know, I’m only a few meters away.”
Lunox walked towards him and said: “How about we reduce that, pretty boy?”
This caught Tom off-guard for a bit.
“Uhm-”
“ANYWAY” Dori interrupted, pulling Lunox back, “He has a problem with a portal-device he made and it would probably take him around six days to fix, so i thought I’d offer him a place to stay if needed.”
“Wait a minute” Lunox said, “Device? You know how to imbue magic into objects?”
Tom sighed at having to explain this once again.
“No, i don’t, this is called technology which is an alternative for magic where i come from.”
“Cool, how does it work?” Lunox asked, not knowing what she just started.

Tom’s voice deepened a bit when he chuckled, saying “You really want to learn this?”
Tom could see a bit of sweat on her forehead, but she still had a relatively steady voice when she said: “Uhm, yeah, why not?”
When explaining the gun, Tom’s voice sped up so much, it was almost impossible to keep up with him.At the end of the explanation, Lunox was just staring at him, having stopped listening halfway through.

Dori couldn’t keep herself from laughing, “Lunox, i know you like being all flirty, but you’ve never said that to anyone!”
Tom saw the fear that appeared in her eyes for a split-second, when Lunox said: “Uh-uh, that was because, uhm, theyyyy…. never had good voices like Tom here does!”
Tom could hear himself laughing, but then he stopped himself, because Tom thought: one should never laugh at anothers insecurity!

Tom sat down, looking at the time-gun and thinking about what he’d need to fix it.
He laid it down on a table, and started looking underneath the table for some tools he might need.
When he sat back up, he saw the tip of the gun was glowing, and it started shooting portals.
Tom got a improvised screwdriver out of a wood-chip, opened up the gun and removed the batteries.
In that room now stood three portals, on the brink of closing.
