Jonas kicked a rock as he stumbled over to the community, where he would continue his training with the giver, He checked the small watch he had on his arm that his father had gifted to him around a year ago, he checked the time, he had a little bit of time to stop and catch his breath after running down the street. His scuffed shoes padded against the grass and dirt, he Would have rode his bike over, but a small pebble had gotten the chain stuck, and what far too small for jonas to unlodge in time,

Once he started running again a familiar face had caught up with him, and grabbed him by the arm. The brown haired boy looked over at his best friend, tilting his head and smiling slightly,
“So jonas! What's up?,” Asher asked cheerfully, “Oh, hey asher. I'm gonna be late if i talk to you”
He sighed and started running again, leaving Asher by himself, slightly hurt that his best friend (And small crush)had just pushed him away like that. He knew that Jonas was the new giver, but it seemed that he had stopped hanging out with both him and fiona.

I Ran down the street, hoping to not be late, when I went up to the building I realized the earbud was poking out of my pocket. I hid it quickly, not wanting to be caught with something so serious as that.
I turned down my ipod and walked inside, The woman at the desk smiled at me warmly, and looked down at me slightly, “Welcome back jonas, The giver is in his room”, the door unlocked and i walked in,

While walking into the room i thought about asher and how i had pushed him away, i know it seemed like i didn't want to talk to him, but the truth was i really really liked him, i knew how risky it was loving a boy in our society, If anyone had found out i would be released immediately, I wanted to shove those feeling deep down, i hated feeling like this, everyone else knew how to love, i felt like the odd one out.

I seemed to zone out slightly because the giver was sitting in his chair looking over at me, “Jonas' ', he asked warily, I stepped into the room and sat next to him, apologizing for being late, or zoning or, or whatnot.
The lesson seemed to go on a usual, him showing me something incredible, the flowers he had shown me today reminded me of asher, i shook it off and in the process i had lost that memory, i sighed and wiped my face.I was shown things of great misfortune, but that was all, he was in great pain so he sent me out early ,

I left and instead of going straight home i wandered into the forest, stepping over the colorful flowers i knew i could only see, the overgrown plants and trees that surrounded me, i continued into the forest popping my earbuds in,

I continued until I had heard a small branch snap, I put my earbuds back into my pocket and turned around. Asher stood there awkwardly. “asher?”I questioned, wondering why he was there, hadn't he been at work? Thinking about it I decided to ask him about it “Wait-, asher? Are you supposed to be working?”He kinda smiled and laughed uncomfortably, “Uh, well I uh,,,” He trailed off, clearly not wanting to talk about it.

“Asher,” I gasped and smiled, “Even if there IS something wrong with you, then there's something wrong with the both of us”, i held his arm, and pulled him in for a hug, the hug lingered for a second and then we parted.

“We should do this again”, he said to me, pecking me on the cheek before getting up and walking out of the forest, i sat there for another second blushing and surprised at what had just happened, The one thing i didn't know was that this wasn't going to go on for long.
