The History of Necromancy
Necromancy is the act of summoning the dead or other spirits for divination as well as summoning spirits for work with magickal operations. Necromancy comes from the Greek word "nekros" meaning "corpse" and "manteia" which means "prophesy." The first traces of Necromancy come from the Classic Greek era and so much of the terminology and history is documented from that culture. During the Medieval Ages Magicians and Sorcerers from Egypt, Greece, Rome and Babylon all practiced the art of Necromancy. Early Christians also wrote many manuals on Necromancy before it was condemned by the Catholic Church as evil and was outlawed in England by the Witchcraft Act of 1604.

Finding the Old Ones
The first step you need to do is to gather as much as possible information about the Old Ones and their demons, especially their names and their appearances. Their names you should learn from your head and also their appearances so you might be able to visualize them and possibly later on see them. Find out any information about their background, where they came from, where they dwell and where they still linger (this might be difficult to find, you can try HPL or some stories or books of my own). Find also their relations with each other, they might not all be one happy family (for example: Hastur made war with Cthulhu for reasons unknown). Lastly, study the prophecy: the ancient war between the Old Ones and the Yithians and the prophecy that the Old Ones will return to Earth and purify it. Look over your list of the Old Ones and their demons and see which God or demon you are drawn to the most as these will be the God or demon you will start working with first (my first God was Azathoth, the Daemon Sultan). Prepare for the energies you are going to work with as they might be extremely dangerous and can drive you mad or worse; kill you. Don't fear them but see them as your friends and don't push them away at all cause. If you overcome your fear you are save from madness. Start out with three Gods or demons to work with to allow for at least one God or demon to come through for you to communicate with.

Setting Up Your Altar
Now you have decided on three Gods or demons to work with it is time to set up the Altar. Buy some small ceramic clear bowls with no design on them (you can inscribe them with the Alphabet of Nug-Soth, just inscribe the name of the demon or God unto the bowl unto which you are offering). Put the three bowls on a small Altar where they won't be disturbed. The bowls must be assigned to the God or demon of your choice so their names must be written on the bowls or confuse them (you might want to give them the colors assigned to the God or demon, just use your imagination) and make it really clear which bowl belongs to which God or demon. Now, let these bowls or demon homes sit quietly for a week.

Activating Your Demon Home
After sitting quietly for a week it is time to activate each demon/God home. You will light a black candle and give a prayer or blessing to your demon/God to activate their home. Light your black candles and say three times:

Inviting the Old Ones to your Altar
After you have activated the demon/God homes it is now time to invite the Old Ones or their demons to your Altar. Call each demon/God by name at their shrine or home and ask them to enter into your household and begin to assist you in your daily life (WARNING: for some demons/Gods it is the custom to possess the body, if you don't want to be possessed by demons than this is not for you, so you can stop reading now). Do this after the blessing/prayer and be persistent that they enter into your household/body. All the effort will be on your part at the start and then in a few weeks you should hear from your demon/God in the form of a thought that is not yours (it is the custom of some of the demons/Gods to corrupt the thoughts, so you might easily recognize them).

Communicating with the Old Ones
You can tell the Old Ones speak to you because it will be a thought that just pops into your mind and will be a corrupt thought that has nothing to do with what you were thinking about at the time. This is how the Old Ones communicate with people. The better you know yourself and your own thoughts the better you will know what thought came from the Old Ones and which thought came from your own mind and this will allow you to be able to better communicate with the Old Ones. Tell them about who you are and where you live and all about you and your life (if you don't tell them anything, they will surely find out your purpose and so as They wish with you). Talk to them as if they were a new best friend and you wanted them to know all about you. Within two months you should start getting thoughts and information back from the Old Ones so be patient on this process. When you hear any communication from the Old Ones then you should talk back to them for all time. After you spoke to the Old Ones then pour them a glass of water as refreshment and set it next to their shrine (or just fill the bowl with water) and tell them it is for them. Conversations with the Old Ones are never boring as they may grant you great knowledge but they might be harsh on you or bully you but this is their nature of truth and they bring pain but only so you might learn from it, they never do anything without a purpose. If you don't know the answer to a question then just tell them you don't know. Always be honest and truthful to the Old Ones and never lie to them.

Offerings
Every time you speak to the Old Ones you should give them a bowl of water (or wine) at the end of the conversation (or just feed them daily) as an offering. They won't physically drink the water but it will be the same as giving them energy and this is a treat for them. You can dump out the water at a later time and make sure you don't offend the Old Ones in the process. Ask the Old Ones what they desire for an offering and you can give them very small portions of food on solstices or special occasions. Do not put salt on any food you give them.

Your Relationship with the Old Ones
After years, you will know them little by little, for They show little at a time but your relationship with them will slightly increase and you will start to know them and They might become your friends (that is really up to Them) and They will destroy your enemies and grant you knowledge.
